My parents got this for Christmas went it came out. It was way too much money, but their son wanted and so like millions of parents do they got it for me. I still have it some 40 years later. Thank you again Mom and Dad. I love and miss you both everyday.
This car looks great and has inspired me to do my own box art body. I recall sometime in mid to late1985 going to the local track with my friends. Well, we took our tricked out Grasshoppers and Hornets and was shocked to see a wave of brand new RC10's sitting on every table. Maybe 30 or so. And when I mean brand new, these guys were already drilling out the chassis and modding these cars some even on hand cut fiberglass pans. Things were never the same after seeing these cars run for the first time so much so that the memory had lasted quite vividly almost 40 years later. Well my brother and I had to get our own (which we did for Christmas). It took some major effort to get the transmissions to spin freely, using the RC car action magazine tutorials and Jim Halsey's guide to get us up and running. The RC 10 wasn't just thrown together, it required involvement, dedication, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to get the most out of it. This is why it is so fondly remembered and treasured to this day.
Such a special car. The box art for this and the Frog are the two iconic images of the golden era for me. The RC 10 was the car I drooled over in all the magazines in the 80’s but I could never afford. Enjoy this one Glen!
Beautiful car. I love to see someone passionately nerding out over an RC car, it makes me smile because I know the feeling and I love it. Well done , thank you.
Epic with the wing and Epic without the wing! Probably best with for me though Glenn! Yeah needs the driver figure! But seriously my friend this looks bloody gorgeous! A Champion in many ways!!!What a thing and boxart is the best! This is a special one Glenn it really is!
Luckily for me when I was 13 years old for Christmas my Mom bought me an rc10. It still sits there on my shelf to this day. And on top of that it has the A stamp. 😀
I have to agree. The RC10 gold pan has been my most desirable car. Still haven’t owned one, but hopefully one day. Sometimes I’ll put a car on my coffee table to just admire for a week or two. I totally get it.
DEEP nostalgic feelings on this one friends...remember the kits bronze bushings (you put graphite on/in them). Bearings were stupid expensive back then(mid 80s). Also remember the mechanical speed control kit came with. Piano wire for linkages. You could call Team Associated directly for help/advice...someone would pick up! The tires were really realistic but you soaked them in WD40 to soften them. A lot of the kit's parts didn't fit at all, lots of hand work on early kits but that was normal.
I will get one of these someday. I had a gold chassis as a kid and always dreamed of building it but never got the parts. Threw the chassis away with my old Blackfoot and qd midnight pumpkin when we cleaned my dads house out after he passed away. Nothing cooler than a box art gold pan RC 10
I started back into RC after a long break around 2015 intending to be a continuing Tamiya/Kyosho fan-boy... The internet decided for me that the Gold Pan was actually what I should want ...but where were they? The Classic re-releases were all but gone but after a long and what felt fruitless search I was delighted to find the last one in a model shop in Finland at a standard price. What a belter - nothing else like it and I completely share your enthusiasm. That wing is great as well. May have to do that on mine 😁
Looks stunning Glenn! Never have I done a rc10 myself, nor have I seen one in real life. But it still one of those which grabbed me when I got my RCCA magazine each month back in the days.
My best friend got one when they were released and I was blown away by how great they were (I only had a Marui Hunter at the time). So many great memories of us dying all that white nylon in his mums pots on the stove which was also a thing at that time also. Along with the weet smell of "Reedy In A Can" motor spray.....fun times
Love it. Love the colour! I wonder how many dozen of us had one back in the day, sold it and now bitterly regret it! The wing looks great, I don't care if it is correct or not.
It was a golden era truly. So much competition between the manufacturers, as well as battery and charging tech development. The modern cars may go like hell, but they don't stop everyone in their tracks like these old beasts do.
Never was big with Team Associated and Losi back in the day, just knew them from magazines, but they weren't available in my LHS and I was always more a 4WD guy, than 2WD. So the RC10 is a real unicorn for me, great to see your very nice example.
Love it my dude! 😍 Just pop a 6 cell Nicad pack in it to squish the suspension down to the right height. 😉 Maybe add sway bars. Now you've got me thinking I need to get a new shell for mine and paint it up just like that. (or get someone to paint it for me 🤫) And then run it a few times before putting it back on the shelf. Basically I can't have an RC or slot car without running it at least a few times.
Nice one Glenn. Raced against many RC10s back in the 80s in the UK, always remember the gold metal chassis looked stunning and they were quick before 4wd took over. Remember meeting sponsored team drivers who had come over from the US to race with tons of kit like a F1 team taking on a bunch of amateurs 😍
I do love the look of this car, so iconic. I have one in the loft that I bought several years ago, really have to get it bumped up the restoration list! Great job Glenn.
Very nice buggy Glenn. I have to cut, paint, decal the body on mine one of these days. Yeah just make vids when you feel like it my man. We'll still be here.
An absolute legend and a beauty! Love that rear spoiler too. I rarely saw photos of this back in the day on the floor, they were always airborne shots. Great memories! Cheers Glenn
The Team Associated RC-10 is my absolute favorite RC out there! I’ve got a re-release with a box art painted body as well, then I have edinger which is my runner. Then I just bought my Dad a RC-10 Cadillac version that we are going to re build that I found local here where I live!! Then I have a RC-10T that I’m in the process of finishing! Very nice classic you got there!
Lots of memories of watching the competitive races back in the day. The hot, modified class buggies made the most amazing sound, ripping around my local track. Love the original livery too.
I remember these at Yennora Hobbies in 1985 and were $330 (Australian $). The kit only. The Tamiya Hotshot was $230 kit only and this was pricey enough. I was always staring at it and remember the "Made in America" on the front of the box.
As a known RUclipsr would say - -WHAT A THING!! 😍That is the car we all dreamt of back in the day, but could never afford, nor was it ever available where I lived. I'm so imensly happy I managed to get the rere car a few months back!! I know I will be staring at it once it's built 😊 I found the picture of the car with silver wheels - very nice indeed!! Have you seen the one with Tamiya Fox Golden wheels? Edit: Oh and by the way, I really like that wing!!
Great job Glenn, it looks awesome! If you get a chance check out the Clint Eastwood movie The Dead pool, there’s an amazing scene which features an RC10. There is also a nitro pan car with a corvette C2 body shell which features a lot in the movie!!👍👊
It looks fantastic Glenn and I do like the rear wing that is on there! It makes it unique but also looks like it belongs on there! I just painted my body this weekend and did it in the same color and decals. I was thinking of doing it in a custom paint job but it just felt right to do it in the box art! Those wheel nuts are a royal pain to find for a reasonable price, I am missing one front one as well but thankfully I can turn it to the one good side on display! LOL! Congrats on getting it wrapped up and it looks fantastic on display!
I feel old. I owned this back in the day, + the world's addition. I hated the original gear box. My favorite was the RC10T. Still love the stealth transmission.
I had a team model with the graphite chassis, that thing was absolutely insane racing it. I raced stock and modified with it, all dependant on what they were running mostly that day.
So I reckon a dogfighter next! and with the re-re in the new year, now maybe the perfect time. I love my RC10 also with the box fromthe original factory which is knackered but is part of its story. Love your box art version! Congrats and it does take your breath away a good RC10!! Sad aren't we!! 😆
I used to lust after those cars. They cost an absolute fortune back then I’m sure they were about £200. Just for the kit. And back then it was an absolute fortune way out of my price range
What a beauty! I started racing when I was 8 and still have my original RC/10. I'm getting ready to fully rebuild it so I can run in the races at the local track. Trying to decide my approach if I want to go completely stock, or use newer components. I've been out of the hobby for over a decade and really want to get it running again. I'd love to compete with it but I'm not sure if that's viable with part availability, etc.
Sweet looking ! Im sure you been told. You Seriously need some car stands...tires will get flat spots..my rc 10 sat in a box for years...pulled it out and the the tires had flat spots ..had to put some tire foams in them to "balloon" them back out ...
Great video. No apology needed for adding that rear wing. A period correct aftermarket modification or two is Ok in my book. I cant tell you how many cars in my collection have RPM control arms or Trinity hop up parts! That car turned out great!
They don't get much better than. I used to watch them run after our famous heats back in 85. I really want one for the collection. For now I settle fora dt02 in rc10 bodies. Ps... The wing looks great.
So ive got an original A stamp gold pan and just finished the Jay Halsey edition and both the body for the original as well as the new body i got for the original and the body for the Jay Halsey edition all want to sit high on the left side rear lol even without a motor in it it seem like it wants to start moving up on the left rear lol
Only thing I notice is that the hardware is aftermarket, looks like maybe aluminum or titanium with the wrong type used on the very front, should be black button head screws , also the shock top right below the shock caps should be gold, not aluminum color. Great car, had one in early 80's and have 3 now. You did a nice job, kudos to you!
My parents got this for Christmas went it came out. It was way too much money, but their son wanted and so like millions of parents do they got it for me. I still have it some 40 years later.

Nothing like an original box art rc10. Great job buddy.

What a stunning RC10 Glenn!
Always loved the look of them back in the 80's and still they look gorgeous today!
Wow, that RC10 looks absolutely stunning, the colour looks spot on! It is bloody gorgeous!!!!
oh boy, this is my Unicorn. Awesome!!! You nailed it absolutely, the box art is unbelievable!
That’s a gorgeous rc10, and that custom wing looks so good on it. A true classic rc. Thanks for sharing!!! 👍
LOL!!! I do the same thing after a build. Stare at it for a while. My wife laughs every time.
👍👌🤌
Thanks for another great video Glenn.
Missed your uploads 😢

Beautiful buggy!!! Keep the wing, it sets it apart!!!👍👍👍
That looks like perfection. See what you mean about with or without the wing. Great video 👍🏻
Love it. Love the colour! I wonder how many dozen of us had one back in the day, sold it and now bitterly regret it! The wing looks great, I don't care if it is correct or not.
You have the most beautiful collection. Your shelving looks like a museum display.
Love it! This was the car many of my friends had when growing up. I never had the "normal" RC10, but I built a few RC10L on-road cars. So much fun!
Congrats! This car is a classic for a reason. Thanks for sharing and very well done on the build. Enjoy!
It was a golden era truly. So much competition between the manufacturers, as well as battery and charging tech development. The modern cars may go like hell, but they don't stop everyone in their tracks like these old beasts do.

So sick! I'm 47 and this is on my list for the collection. Very nice

RC10, the Frogger, and the Tamiya King Cab were my childhood favorites - when i put the Twister Motor in my Tamiya, it was a BMX track legend lol.
Very nice buggy Glenn. I have to cut, paint, decal the body on mine one of these days. Yeah just make vids when you feel like it my man. We'll still be here.
Omg this brings back memories!!! Wow. I loved building it, modding it and racing!!!
An absolute legend and a beauty! Love that rear spoiler too. I rarely saw photos of this back in the day on the floor, they were always airborne shots. Great memories! Cheers Glenn
Damn, that’s a beautiful car.
What a great car to make a return to RC Legends. This is going to be a hard one to beat.
Awesome job mate.

The grin on your face through the whole video says it all!! Cracking looking car.
Lots of memories of watching the competitive races back in the day. The hot, modified class buggies made the most amazing sound, ripping around my local track. Love the original livery too.
19/10❤ geeorgious😍! Such an icon. Great job Glenn👌 should be top shelf🤔🤨?

I was always staring at it and remember the "Made in America" on the front of the box.
A Grasshopper and an Rc10 are what got me into RC cars.
Absolutely amazing looking RC Glenn
Awesome car! Definitely one to have in a collection!
What a treasure.. love the RC10 stunning Glenn 😊👍👍🥇Pete
Great looking buggy and i like it better without the wing.
Me and my brother had two of them when we was kids. Love to have a new one again.

Just awesome I have one in box art and it’s the best look love the wing makes it look like a stock car glad to have you back keep up the good work👍
You know, the off white looks great with the orange. It’s aged like a fine wine.
It looks fantastic Glenn and I do like the rear wing that is on there! It makes it unique but also looks like it belongs on there! Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I would suggest you put it where the gold Turbo Optima is so that it gets more light. 😁
Great buggy bud love the glasses glen looking cool
I feel old. I owned this back in the day, + the world's addition. I hated the original gear box. My favorite was the RC10T. Still love the stealth transmission.
Your enthusiasm is contagious 🎉 it is a true 💎

That is a sexy looking buggy, hats of to you Glenn. 1st class result 👌
Loving it Glenn 😅🎉
One word for that buggy --> EPIC.

Great vid.
Great Cars. My friend used to race one, and a Cougar.
*Happy Days*
You are both looking proper fit. Enjoy!
Looks superb, nice one :)
That is nice ❤ Great video and was excited to see it in my feed!!
Looks amazing you are right about the spoiler it looks great with or without it
Great video. No apology needed for adding that rear wing. A period correct aftermarket modification or two is Ok in my book. I cant tell you how many cars in my collection have RPM control arms or Trinity hop up parts! That car turned out great!
Display is looking awesome Glenn
I used to race one of those, it seemed another level of quality than others at the time.. we dyed all the white plastic black
Great Vid, as always Glenn! :)
My losi jrx pro had a removable wing like that, I loved it!
They don't get much better than. I used to watch them run after our famous heats back in 85. I really want one for the collection. For now I settle fora dt02 in rc10 bodies. Ps... The wing looks great.
Looks awesome. I would love an rc10. Good job mate 😊👍
Yep me too Dom!
@@mad-beerc3818 👍👍👍😊
I like the wing and the spotlights.
I have one in my garage. I am renewing it to teach my grandson about these cars...
My favourite car of all time , I still run one and love driving it
Gorgeous 🤩👍
I still have mine since I was a kid. Bought new, thanks Dad. Oh never mind, I have the carbon fiber model.
Wow, that’s a beauty!
The 3 spoke nuts are called KNOCKOFFS..
I HAD one back in 1987 with a Race Prep 540 motor and raced it and won. Upgrade from my Tamiya Grasshopper 😅
Looks great!
Hopefully you have a "working" one you can run round a track a few times. These cars really are winners!
I love my optima 4WD, the one with blue white and yellow box art. Box art as no wing
Keep the wing.
I used to race those and that wing works....
So ive got an original A stamp gold pan and just finished the Jay Halsey edition and both the body for the original as well as the new body i got for the original and the body for the Jay Halsey edition all want to sit high on the left side rear lol even without a motor in it it seem like it wants to start moving up on the left rear lol
there is only one thing wrong with your RC10, it's not on the track. Nice job. She is stunning.
Got mine back after 30 years, it's in pieces but have plans to get it back to running condition.
It's without a question it's the most iconic
Missed you! Hope all is well. You are a good man & an asset to the hobby. RC10 is gorgeous!
Beautiful car... and collection. What stamp is the chassis? Cheers.
Beautiful car. 👍👍
