Probably one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard. The melody is so enchanting, its pure magic. Roy and Ronnie will never be forgotten. True bards and noble Scots men they will be forever.
Rossmcl177, I think this was the performance I was privileged to see at Edinburgh's Usher Hall,1969/70.Perfect mix of superb musicianship and audience held in the palms of their 4 talented hands. Sigh!
+craig anderson Yes you're right:on second thoughts, the Usher Hall concert was when they wore scarlet shirts:by 1972 I was back in England.Whenever, still a great performance,eh?
Trolls, stop posting thumbs down just for "fun." Seems to be a sport on Corries' and North Sea Gas videos. Why? Because they are so good you can't stand it?
well i hope you like this kind of music because the young guy, Roy was uncle and i am named after him. and i carry on his tallent, in his home town of forres
Really?? You should be proud of that... I'm Albanian and I think that your uncle was one of the greatest singers that ever existed!!!! ALBA GU BRATH!!!!!!!!
This was them in their absolute hey-day. Early-mid 70s I'd guess? They were still good in the 1980s but theyd lost something by then I think. They were just great in this period though.
does anybody know if there is somone comparable with the Corries nowadays? were they so unique? people (not only Scots) should sing such songs, for reminding that there are other things about life than only money and sex
@Scottishindependance Though I don't entirely disagree with your comment (though I think James Taylor is a better singer), the fact that you can't spell independence just shows the endless stupidity behind the Scottish independence movement.

I listen to the Corries every day and play them for my grand children. I love them. I play the Night Visitor Song before I go to bed every night.
That last performance of Luke Kelly singing Night visitor makes me cry every time I hear it.
I used to see them in concert as a child. I'm in awe of the harmonies when they sing
Reminds me of being a kid and my Dad listening to it. Takes me back.
Sadly my Dad passed away 1 week after I sent this. We played Leezy Lindsay at his funeral 😔
@@neilmclean4439god bless Neil ❤
@@jameshendry8524 Thanks James

I think this performance was a little later than that. Mid 70s I think. Can't remember the exact year.

Absolutely was. The Corries were really special. You are so lucky you got to see them live when you did.
@@craiganderson275 this performance was 1978 according to the Years Must Roll On VHS.
Brings back great memories of many a great night at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh.
Thanks for posting these clips.
My favorite Scottish song. I first listened to in a BnB near Glamis Castle.
Beautiful, gentle folk

This is exquisite. Thanks for posting it, Iain. I just bought two Corries CDs on Amazon - you can't get them here (Switzerland)
Beautiful

Brilliant.

Beautiful indeed. And sooo much better than the CD version -- wish someone would upgrade it to better sound quality -- if that's possible.
I should be able to do this. I can email it to you if you'd like
@@ryanswiggs That would be great. Let me know when you’ve done it and I’ll send you my email address.
♥️
@carollizc They are the Best Scotland has now mate and Aye worth going to see.
@TheJacobiker Not quite, but very good nonetheless. I'd go see them.
Kinda reminds me of the Everley Brothers.
@chemical376 Do you not know your uncle Roy was the elder of the two?
hear hear
Oaye.
@Enferushostis Only the sea water if they are silly enough to wade in !
@Scottishindependance Listen to Whiterose... The new Corries ;>
I know this drivel was written 2 years ago, but please don't show your ignorance and at least spell MacDonald correctly.

Why is that so?
Someone can't notice a pun when it's right there in front of them...
Unless of course the SNP take up the sword dance as a mandatory cultural expression.
And then get all fusion-y and dance it to Ravel's _Bolero._
I'm from Scotland and am singing this in a show at school ❤️
rhona same on Friday for Robert burns day
