I once rebuilt a classic Aston V8 engine for a really good friend of mine. I did it for nothing ( the labour, he paid for the parts ) just for the chance to work on something so awesome. I'm pretty sure that the rebuild kit for one of the carburettors cost more than whatever four wheeled heap I was driving at the time. We are going to try. Everything is so expensive. The rebuild kit from Aston was £100 per carb! Found a 4 carb kit in Germany for Maserati (same carbs) for £150. The fuel filter was £25! Needs a master cylinder hence the leisurely speed on last clip… god knows how much that will be to replace or refurbish… but, we have no plans to sell… even though one of our RUclips barb finders offered to buy it there and then…

Wow, great to see Tavarish getting out and about in UK with TLBS! What a beauty of an Aston, love it! Just my 2c, don't use a wire brush to clean plugs, it will leave traces of metal on the ceramic and can cause shorting there and bad spark. Only use parts cleaner/solvent with plastic bristles.

Great episode…as usual. I feel for this family, losing a loved one during the lockdown, while the government of the time partied…but it’s so nice to hear that they also got this car back running as a family. Great channel Jonny…keep it up!
As a subscriber to Freddie's channels, was very nice to see him have the experience of a Barn find with Jonny and to see 2 guys from different circles getting together and just being car guys. Looks from the video that Freddie certainly got his hands dirty in the work done and love the idea of a Barn Find USA special in the future maybe
No, that’s not life, man! That was a complete misjudgement and borderline evil by our governments. I feel bad for you guys and of course especially your mom. All the best from Germany where we left our parents and grandparents to die all alone in retirement homes. I still can’t believe that this happened…😢
HELLO Jonny & Freddie, so good to see you get this faboulas car running, what a special moment for the famiuly too! Watched till the ned, seeing the work done to put the car back where it shold be; on the road, and to be used in the memory of the father. WONDERFUL!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire
What a lovely bunch of people with great taste in cars. Well done Jonny and Freddie - you work so well together that you should definitely have your own network show.
I walked to school past a garage that had a V8 and a DB6 for sale, outside, priced at £2k and £2.5k. They had been on sale for a couple of years by the time I left in 1978. I loved them both!
Great video. I had avoided Tararish videos as wasn’t sure if they would be the standard click bait. But seems like a great bloke, will check out his videos.
Hello Jonny and Freddie, so good to see and hear this special engine running!! This car needs to be returned to the road and used!! Especially to the memory of the late owner. Best wishes from Lincolnshire
Great video, evoking many happy memories. I had a 1976 AM V8 that was updated to Vantage spec a few years after the Vantage became available (1977 I believe). The update parts were available from the factory and the car you revived looks like it received a partial cosmetic update as the wheels should have been changed to the wider BBS rims, and the bonnet intake plug should have been fared in seamlessly. I can well understand why the owner held onto this car and only wish I still had mine.
The CLOSEST my family got to own one of those was my Uncle, who, bought the 'Aston Martin V8 Vantage' body kit (DMS/Bullet) for his Ford Capri 2.8i !! 😉🤣🤣 He tried to source the actual A.M. body parts as needed, like rear lights, grill, badges, wheels etc etc to give it more of an authentic 'Feel' to it, he even worked on the interior to bring that more in line with the real V8. In the end, it was one of the better kit forms of Capri/Aston - Vantage V8s. And it looked ACE! One of his previous projects was doing a full resto on a Sunbeam Alpine (I also loved that car!) Oh them were the days, school summer holidays watching (and occasionally helping) my Dad work with my Uncle on his projects... 👍😏 😎🇬🇧
Matt, you've done something that is so irreplaceable. A memory that will never fade between father and son. I wish I could have done the same for my dad. You're a great son.
Great episode and love the back story. Personally, I loved the standard V8 before the vantage. No spoilers, open bonnet vent and grille. It would be nice for this car to be brought back to standard.
Phwoar, when that Aston was on song, it was wonderful . You and Tavarish are such a great team. Loved every minute of this episode. My favourite car, and some of my favourite RUclipsrs. Just brilliant ❤
Never thought I'd hear "Dude, that thing runs!" on a barnfind 😅 Great show, great car, super family, the one thing sadly missing is an interview with the Dad, which I'm sure would have been fascinating.
That was a very cool episode Johhny. Freddie was great too. I reckon the late owner would be honoured to see you guys giving some love to his cherished car. I totally get it because I have something very similar but in the form of a 99 BMW E36 M3 Anniversary Edition which I've owned for just over 15 years now and Even though I rarely drive it, I still keep it registered and perfectly maintained. I'm lucky to do 20 klms per year in it, lol..
Brilliant video and a great addition with Freddie. As others have said what a genuinely humble lovely guy with great humour. Stands to reason he himself is doing so well. Its heartwarming to see Johnny, Freddie, Matt Armstrong and many others offer such great content, so much better than the TV!
Bit worried about the end used on the Karcher initially as that is the aggressive wand that will take the paint off and strip it down to the metal if left in one place too long. Good for removing stickers and decals along with moss off a patio. Lovely video and Freddie is a true car guy.
I guess the power washer was probably just on site and I thought exactly the same thing as yourself, was fine to be using the Vario Lance in first shot but when I saw the Cone tipped dirt blaster I was a little concerned 🫣.
My favourite car ever! I love Aston Martin's but these old V8's have so much road presence. It just looks so cool. Thanks Jonny, and Tavarish, for the best ever barn find!
My favourite two car guys from RUclips, there should be more collaboration. Sorry to hear about their dads passing , hopefully the car will always be a great reminder of him.

Great episode…as usual. I feel for this family, losing a loved one during the lockdown, while the government of the time partied…but it’s so nice to hear that they also got this car back running as a family. Great channel Jonny…keep it up!
I can’t believe that TURBO that was blocking in a VANTAGE 🤯😎. Thank you once again Mr. Smith
More cars need to have big tyres on again! 👍
The Aston Martin Air Intake apparatus of this period looks so classy and substantial!
I wished I was rich. Every car motorbike I've had, I had to sell to fund the next wreck so I kept nothing 😢
Meet your twin here 😂👍
@FoMoCo123 triplet❤ every car I ever had was slightly better than the last and I drive a ten year old Honda jazz ,bad init
Firstly my heart so goes out to Mum that’s just awful for her😞. Another great episode 👌👏💚
What a machine, from back when Great Britain could make a proper car, amazing to see, their dad will be looking down and smiling😊
😎🇬🇧
Matt, you've done something that is so irreplaceable. A memory that will never fade between father and son. I wish I could have done the same for my dad.
You're a great son.
Great to see the lads have fitted new carbs to the beast ! Their father would be super proud, and thanks for sharing !
A great big THANK YOU to Robert and James for letting us enjoy your father's pride and joy (favorite) car.
BRAVO!
Well done!
2 thoroughly decent guys working on for me, the best looking Aston Martin(fight me)
Top job as always, Jonny
What a Sunday treat….loved the Johnny and Freddie car wash mitt duet…Beautiful Aston..
Like Ghost, but no pottery wheels...
What an awesome episode! Such a treat to watch Jonny and Freddy work together!
Ooh Tavarish too on a Late Break Barn Find! Perfect Sunday viewing! Tyrrell's Classics, Harry's Garage & Late Break Show! 👍👌
One of my favourite barn finds. The car, Freddie(great guy), starting and then the family driving it.
I love watching these and learning, even though my current and likely future cars are electric. Thank you, Jonny, and thank you as well, Freddie!
Very happy to see Tavarish involved in this one, I love it when my favourite RUclips legends collaborate .
Your best video yet Jonny, the washing montage is absolute gold, especially at 26:34. Love the 80s audio track too :)
My favourite two car guys from RUclips, there should be more collaboration. Sorry to hear about their dads passing , hopefully the car will always be a great reminder of him.
Nearly spat my drink out when I saw the Karcher dirt blaster lance being used on that classic!! That thing will strip off the paint!!
I thought the same thing, i use that head for the patio floor
Beautiful car. Sorry for your loss. Your dad would be proud. Your outlook is admirable
Wow. Loving all the crossovers that are happening in the RUclips auto world. Freddie is a good dude! Great episode!
Old enough to remember these being on sale new, and to see them be worthless. Top job Johnny and Freddie. Lovely bit of kit
Let out an audible moan when I saw the reveal. I think my housemate heard. 😳
You were spot on when you said it looked so tough, but it was before my time, so I never really knew much about them before now. Thanks for always bringing such a diverse range of vehicles to my attention, and the humans behind them.
The last minute of this video was very heartwarming and incredibly rewarding
Oh yeah, what a beauty, having Freddy along was also great, condolences to the family, Rj in Oz
