By me I didn't know that mappa made season 4 I just watched it and I was like wtf happen to wit studio why did their make CGI and why is Mikasa a boy and where are the soundtrack that their use but then I found out that mappa made it and that their had only 9 month to done it ,then I respect Mappa because their only had 9 month to done it, still now their have time to done season 4 part 2 so I hope their only use CGI to big titan and not to 17m and lower titan and the soundtrack that aot need, I can't wait

I like Wit better but that doesn't mean that we should hate on Mappa, animation is really hard and both should be given credit for the work they put in. Props to Mappa as well for the time frame given to them. I think they did great despite having such a short time to animate at least so I have been told, imagine if they got more time though
I truly believe that if Mappa had the time for quality, they could make something incredible. I'm not saying that season 4 isn't already crazy, I just think it would be better for looks, and for Mappa animators
To be honest, Mappa animations are slightly better due to the CGI they use, they somewhat reuses the same as Inuyashiki and it makes it unique, don't get me wrong, WIT did a great job for AOT

BUt people gotta stop comparing animations because its not what made aot a master piece. Remember "Hero" and "Midnight Sun" episodes ? Went down as one of the highest ratings TV shows ep even with its CGI and rough animation.
MAPPA is already ahead of WIT in every way if they had the same time to work with. Look at Jujutsu Kaisen; amazing fight scenes and CGI scence rotoscoping. CGI was the only option for MAPPA as they had to get it out on time or the AOT will start raging.
Another reason is that Jujutsu Kaisen is airing side to side with AOT S4, which put even more strain on the animators.

is EXACTLY right. Most of the comparisons in this video where from Season 2, where WIT had 4 years to animate 12 episodes whereas Mappa had 6 months to animate 16 episodes. And despite EVEN that, I'd go as far to say that Mappa has a better Collosal titan than WIT and that all of the episodes in season 4 were great. I swear, most of these people don't even know what *bad* animation and CGI even is!!!
Wit was great for the battle against the titans for humanity and shit, but mappa is bringing the dark vibes to the table and I love it

Mappa is doing a good job with season 4, but man I loved the heavy linework from the first season, and how the pure titans skin looked more textured. The thick lines made everything more dramatic
The new titans look like animatronics or those 3D characters doing the fortnire dances.
The last comparison doesn’t count... Ymir’s Jaw Titan looks nothing like the Galliard brothers’ Jaw Titans.

Don't forget, Wit has 59 episodes of content, Mappa has 3 episodes. Compare the cgi colossal titan in s3 with s4 colossal titan, you will see the difference. Also, JUST ENJOY THE SHOW, we are lucky that we get s4 just after one year. No one wants a 4 year wait like s2.

See I get what you mean but it's not like the animation is irrelevant. From this latest episode I see a lot of potential for season 4's animation but honestly, a show like aot does kinda need good animation. There's a reason people hated Berserk 2016. I personally think mappa has proven they can do this series justice in episode 3 but those first two episodes looked kinda shit tbh. I have higher hopes now and I'm sure mappa didn't want to pull out their entire budget on the first episode. In 2 episodes one of the most imortant scenes to get the animation right on will come so I'll wait for the verdict until then. Still, episode 3 looked freakin amazing so I have really high hopes. Also, if the animation was bad (which I don't think it is) I would be fine with waiting for another year or two i it meant this show got the animation it deserved.

That's not fair at all since they had only 6 months to finish the show when wit studio had all the time, And the reason they only had 6 months is because the producer of AOT manga said to Wit studios to finish the show in 6 months and they refused and no one accepted to do it in 6 months expect MAPPA. So thank you MAPPA for making AOT without you we wouldn't see a S4 AOT .

i like both, but season 3 part 2 also had only less than a year (just like mappa in season 4). i have no problem with mappa but the animation on season 1 to 3 makes aot the anime we all love.
@@aikxen7239 the anime is to boost the sales of the manga. They requested more time but they said "NO! DO IT NOW! WE WANT MONEY" but they already accepted, the trailer had already dropped when it was before mappa started. The mappa haters would have just complained anyway since they're kind of people to complain just to complain. They would have cancelled the season 4 forever since it wasnt worth it or they would have to postpone it YEARS later not "a bit later" cuz no studio wanted to take it. People arent grateful that Mappa is doing their best to give us what we want, and they've done an excellent job with the time frame, pandemic, limited resources and also this was the B team, not the A team. This is a GOOD adaptation and they had 6 months, 6 months for good? imagine another year and it would the best thing. I just hope that in Blu-ray everything is up to Mappa standard

@@seya_2 i would like to ask you something, 3D is in all ways acceptable, but u could feel the clunky movement because of lack of frames per second, why couldn't they make it so it's 3d but combined with 2d frames in movement? that would make it have more frames and less clunky and that wouldn't be as time consuming as drawing the whole thing in 2d, also thank your sister for us all GoH is very good ^^
@@natsuo1891 I know that looks a bit janky. But those 3D titans are animated at 8 frames per second. Then the frame interpolation. Frame interpolation smoothens out your animation by multiplying frames. Those looks a bit janky because 8 frames animation rendered at 24fps by interpolating the frames.

Mappa has that darker and shadow look on their animations while Wit has the brighter colours because most of the scenes happen under the sun a lot.
Well, one studio had 3 years a season working animators around the clock, while the other JUST picked up the show, I think we got it pretty good.
Mappa only had 6 months to make a 16 anime episodes please appreciate them guys

(Edit fixed typos) I don't know about 6 months but I do know that mappa asked kodansha to give them one more year to work on it and kodansha rejected them, the staff worked their asses off and some (if not most/all) were pulling all nighters and working on the episode even right before episode 7 aired (from staff's social media)

Compare that fight to the fight scene in the opening and you’ll see that wit studio wasn’t perfect.
Even more telling is the dumb fuck compares shots of season 2 which had an extra team of people dedicated to makeup for titans and characters, of course it wont compare to that lol

The cgi is fireee af broo, they really use the cgi well and implement it very well in the scenes lol,they really blend it in very well between the 2d and 3d and remember when people complained about the cg from season 3 about berthold and the other titans too smh, but it ended up being so great haha and they really blended it with the 2d aspect and the world,also the titans have a bit more detail to them and so do some of the characters which have a bit more expression to them too, both studios are really nice and amazing as we all know that and we also know that we really like both of the two studios and we have respect for both of the studios for their great work, we all know that mappa will do the show amazing justice, also all the people there work really hard, sadly the animators in japan barely get paid enough money for the amount of time they all work and yet they make such amazing shows, and I am really happy that two amazing studios have been working on this show, also I would want to see what future projects these two studios will do, since right now they are making really cool projects and are working very hard, and they are probably saving the best cgi and hand drawing for what's to come in the future and if you are a manga reader, you know that the upcoming episodes are going to be so freaking amazing, some people dont know what animators go through,so I highly suggest for few people to freaking stop complaining since they don't have a damn clue about what hard struggles animators and studios go through and the cgi looks really clean in my opinion definitely, we should be happy that they are managing to make this season look so good and cool and also we should be really grateful we even get a fourth season this year smh, the two studios should make maybe make some anime movies at times as we all know they are going to spend a lot of time working on the movies and they are going to be so amazing,the manga is really cool and the anime is going to be even more amazing for sure, both berthold cg and the other titans cg were blended in really well and they used it so nicely too,they made it so amazing and cool,there are a lot of different shows and movies that do this very well too and make it so nice, with aot being one of them out of the many great shows and movies that implement all these cgi nicely and they also the art style is really amazing and cool too , bertholds was mostly cgi which looked really cool and the other titans also had cg for a bit at times,like the horses, and 3d manouver gears were cgi which looked really nice too along with some of the buildings in the surroundings that were also at times cgi, like some braindead retards be complaining about the most dumbest and stupidest shit, they be complaining about the most bullshit things for no reason, but dumbass people be complaining about anything and nitpick like any little thing to make it not look good nowadays smh

Why do you “know MAPPA will do the show amazing justice” I think ur being pretty naive ab a company that tackled 3 other projects while in the MIDDLE of accepting attack on titan and rushing it out within a year. Let’s not say they ‘do the show justice’ cuz even the time frame off bat shows they won’t. Let’s just hope it carries the energy of the source material and dosent 7DS and Tokyo ghoul itself. And they’re definitely not ‘blended well’ when it comes to cgi. If that was actually true you wouldn’t notice the cgi. The most important goal of cgi is to not make you notice it as a separate element in the atmosphere. Every strand of cgi we saw was noticeable lol
Just to be clear:
1.Wit abandoned the project because the time to produce it was too short and only Mappa offered to animate it;
2. It's not Mappa who decides when to publish the anime but Kodansha;
3.The anime had already been postponed for two months, they couldn't ask for more time;
4. If no one had taken over the project it would have been canceled forever;
5. The fourth season had only 6 months of production. All the previous season had at least a year of production

The animation is meant to capture the story. Wit Studio did an awesome job in which they made AOT lifelike through drawing. Scary Humanistic traits that made the animation so much more interesting.
Both of them are really good each have their pros and cons so stop bitching abt mappa like wit aint have any bad traits to their animating style

why the hell did you take a pic of the amoured titan from mappa in that scene? there was a scene where it looked much better, I'm sure wit has some scenes where the armoured titan doesn't look good as well, what is the point of finding a picture where one is not top notch looking on purpose and trying to find wit's best scene, at least compare worst to worst or best to best
OMG , this comment summarized everything in my head about this video, they always compare season 1 or 2 armored titan and don’t get anywhere near season 3’s armored titan, it didn’t look that great in season 3 part 2( eren vs riener round 2), and I think that it actually looked worse than the CGI in the final season.
@@stardrake691 yeaa ikr, I mean we only got a few glimpses of the armored titan in the first 2 seasons and he had minimal movement in those first 2 seasons and add the time they had to animate him its clear why he looks better ,the only time he rlly has a lot of screen time is his fight with eren in s3 and it is only in s4 where we see him moving around so much, and it would have been hard to animate him running around so much even if they had a lot of time so for the amount of time they had they did a good job

Considering the low amount of time Mappa had, they did a incredible job. I would still prefer Wit Studios, but only slightly. If Mappa had like 3-4 more months time, the weird scenes (Scouts flying around zeke in e9 and Eren ripping the warhammer titan from the core) wouldnt have happened.

200 employees doesnt mean 200 animators. Theyre also animating 3 different animes so its split teams. For aot season 1-3, WIT outsourced to 4 different studios so no, 34 employees didnt make aot. They also had extremely talented freelance animators that are rare these days since they all work on their own projects.

See we started this with WIT all throughout season 3, we're just not used to MAPPA, let's just appreciate what we have, WIT is great and MAPPA is so good with putting the realistic effect

I think that the hand-drawn style WIT had the time to work on looks much better, but I think the CG MAPPA had to use looks great still, and in some cases, I think it enhances the fight scenes
The real winner is Mappa for managing to animate at all in such a tight schedule. Like we should all be thankful we got it animated in the first place.
The tragedy here is seeing this shit product until the end of the world but will be remembered as mediocre compared to the standard animation level on the previous season.
I noticed the show seems to be more animated overall. Like instead of how WIT does dramatic still frames with dialogue overtop the scenes MAPPA instead the them fully animated. Really helps breath life into the characters. Now for the titans, I think they look pretty good, movie quality even, all except the beast titan. His model just seems less expressive than WIT’s hand drawn animation. It’s not as much of a problem for the other Titans since they don’t talk, but his appearance is more uncanny now since he’s the only one that does.

I was gonna say the same. I like the art style change because the characters feel more fluid now. Still prefer hand drawn titans, but MAPPAs cgi blows away WIT’s. MAPPA is more than capable of hand drawn Titans as evidenced with Annie’s titan looking better than ever in that 10 second montage.
Yea, More animation and movements = less quality in the shots, although i really liked the visuals and effects Mappa Had to offer.
what i got from this is that wit is better at using contrast, shadow, and lighting than mappa.

Because they cant make those incredible and realistic backgrounds from wit. Just go any season and compare both backgrounds and you will see the difference.

@@julenhitsit2095 estamos hablando del tercer episodio, el titan aparece todo el tiempo animado a mano, exceptuando el último plano de cuando se va a impactar con la muralla (todo el video es comparación con el tercer episodio) y como dije en mi comentario original, hay muchas escenas que se vuelven a mostrar en el flashback, como cuando el titan acorazado esta parado de cuerpo completo de forma amenazante antes de empezar a correr, esta escena se muestra en la primer temporada también, curiosamente siendo la escena perfecta para comparar no la colocan.
I'm not going to complain and say MAPPA is shit (they're not). BUT, I am going to say that WIT would have given us the final season to a series that we put 8 years of our lives into, that we deserved
I mean you can’t blame MAPPA, they only had 8 months to make the final season, they wanted to extend it but the committee refused, so the animators has a very very cramped amount of time to animate the final season

The people who made the show look like this was the fans themselves, CGI was the only option to make a fight scene quickly within the period that MAPPA had to make it.
WIT's S3 P2 also had a similar time period and look at the Colossal Titan, bad CGI that no-one liked.
i'm sure wit would have done well, but that does not mean mappa isn't doing a good job now. i'm grateful that mappa took the job when other studios were not willing.

I don't know what to say, but looking at the Smiling titan comparison side by side,,I was honestly frightened by both very much.
WIT studio version looks like an eerie renaissance/ Victorian painting, with the smile incredibly defined, with very glassy eyes.
The MAPPA studio one looks like a reptile pretending to be a human, while slowly deteriorating and unravelling it's true nature, with how the teeth line up with the smile, and such wild looking eyes.
anybody else? There's just something so.... very creepy in the two of them, even though they look different.

youre not seriously considering which one is more terrifying. The eerie glassy doll looking horror shading of WITS compared to the generically drawn mappa's isn't even a comparison. In WITS animation some things are smooth like bone and drawn with a different texture and lighting depending on what it is. For MAPPA literally everything is either the same texture or just cgi

Yeah wit studio has more quality in each drawing than mappa,just go rewatch an OVA compare the animation of action and still close up images you'll see the difference Mappa is good and has better cgi than what wit brought with another studio and that's it their animation style looks generic and dead compared to Wit
Both studios are great but Wit's art style had a menacing feeling to it and MAPPA looks cleaner.
Wit characters are more detailed and have more shadows in it while mappa have little light and blurry characters but both are good i am satisfied

Yeah, luckily the CGI is outsourced though, so during more important fights coming up in the season it'll hopefully be animated by Mappa.
Honestly how do you CGI that titan, it's hard, they didn't have enough time to draw it so it was the only choice.

Did you know in ep 6 there was a single frame of mappa hand drawn attack Titan it looked scary tbh wit one looks a sexy titan no homo.

Guys keep in mind wit studio chose not to do it anymore and so did other studios so MAPPA decided to do it and plus Wit was already doing another anime.
the pictures that were showed for WIT were commonly freeze frames so they had more effort put in and were incosistent with the rest of the movement scenes, whereas mappa has a consistent style all the way through
I really don’t care about which studio makes the animation better. of course i wanna thank both studios for making history.

The animation for Mappa is less dark and gloomy like it was for Wit. It sorta symbolises how during Season 1-3, it was all on this island full of tragic misfortune but after ridding the titans on Paradis, things go back to normal on that island.
Mappa is bad coloring while Wit bad at cgi animations.
WIT is still good with CGI, like Bertolt on the wall and Rod Reiss

There are designs that I prefer over the other one but they all look really good and I'm just glad we got a fourth season. The cgi wasn't even that bad. I kind of liked it
