The flashes of light during the explosion of the ships in the TV version always came off to me as explosions hidden by the steam, since by the time that the ships had fallen, the clouds of steam had already enveloped and gone past the line. Not only that, they looked like clouds being lit by thunder, which was a really cool effect. I do like the new explosion effects, which probably better shows the fireballs created by the ships' fuel, but they should've been more hidden behind the steam, and the flashes of light in the clouds should've remained present, since they more in line with the quick explosions from ammunition detonating, which the ships had lots of.

I disagree. I prefer the blu ray. I think the tv version just looks like a cheap lens flare effect that I could do in after effects. Also the TV version shows the debris of all the boats while the explosions are happening. If the titans are under water it makes sense that the steam would only be behind them. Meaning that you would get hit before the steam wall even hits you. Imagine being an onlooker and you can't even see the colossal titans because they're swimming under water so you just see explosions out of nowhere and then a trail of steam following it. I know it's subjective but I wanted to give my reasoning.
The smoke moving that fast on the tv version made no sense. The smoke is not supposed to move in the same speed as the colossals, they are just left behind so it made complete sense to slow them
@@meatisomalley it's a not a matter of agreement or not, its physics. The steam is ejected thus becoming a cloud of heat, it shouldn't move fast like that lol they didn't make that change out of nothing. The steam ejected by the colossals on the surface can only move fast backwards as long as they swim, and that's it.
@@lucasmarques6472 Depends on the speed and nature of the chemical reaction. For example, there are slow acting explosives and fast acting explosives. The reason TNT blows up in a violent explosion while something like gunpowder burns much slower is because the reaction is way faster with TNT. there is such sheer mass on the titans and they are so extremely hot that as they swim across the ocean, there's a huge and violent reaction in the water. it creates a huge wave of pressure so there is a violent election of steam, almost like a geyser. Also, unless you're a physics professor and you've done the calculations, there is absolutely disagreement to be had. Gtfoh with that bs.
Technically speaking, the ships shouldn't be emmitting smoke at all. This only indicates that the ships are moving or at full throttle, when in fact, they are stationary.
I feel a bit iffy about some changes. The huge wall of steam approaching in the TV version looked more epic (even if it didn't make much sense), the exploding ships hidden in the steam at the horizon also looked cooler in my opinion and lastly the still shots of Eren as a kid looked better in the TV version without the blur and the camera panning. Every other change is an improvement I would say. Strange how out of 10 changes as an example, Mappa would improve like 7 while 3 or so get worse.

1:00 I feel like when they decided to change the smoke in this scene, they forgot to remove the old smoke, or make the new smoke blow in the same direction as the old smoke.
It feels as if they got a live action cinematographer to enhance the Blu Ray version. Some of the changes such as the stronger shakes and bigger flashes of military weapons firing feel much stronger and more realistic. But even though it's more realistic, the incoming rolling smoke and distant explosions feel far less intimidating. And I truly can't get behind the bloom/zoom in effect on Eren watching his mother being eaten. When I saw that scene for the first time it felt so incredibly terrifying and visceral, like I understood exactly what emotions I should've been feeling in such a raw illustration. But the bloom and zoom effect takes that moment and makes it feel like I'm being told that it's a big deal through the camera and blur instead of it just feeling its weight by the art style alone
The thick black smoke is actually a really nice, realistic touch. Those battleships IRL threw out tons of smoke; in battle, that smoke got even thicker as more fuel was burned and shells were fired. It makes the scene feel a lot more real.
I think the rumble was very good, I would have liked more contrast in the yellow and blue colors of the sky and that the vapor was not so gray, but in general it was good, it looks more epic, thanks for bringing it.
Im fine with every change (most of them are a reall addition) except 3. the Steam wall ...that was in Tv version so much better and the explosions of the ships....that was also much better in TV version. no one needed that nuke explosions...They could have add 3 or 4 of that explions to Tv version and fine. and that blurr effect for young eren was also uneccesary. It looked better in TV you could see his horror.
I prefer the TV original at 1:55 - 2:16 It just gave more terror at the sudden rush of steam. I think a mix of the two would work better for Eren's reveal at 4:05 The colossal titans hidden in fog is an improvement, but Eren looks smaller. Maybe keep Eren obscured but have his moving hair be the only thing you can see. And keep the original TV version for 5:00 other than that everything else is an improvement.
That smoke change is such a shame as its fast approaching wall felt perfect. Same with the sky lighting up felt more disconnected an... showed the ungodly strength an speed of the rummbeling

The charging smoke and explosions in the horizon were brilliant in the TV version. I don’t that change. Even the revealing shot of Eren’s titan was better in TV because the smoke obscuring it just makes the reveal of its scale really menacing.
Hmm overall better animation on tv version but better detailing on Blu-ray version… if that makes sense. If not pretty much I like the flow of the surroundings and the choices that went behind every situation (perception/dimension/on the tv version and I like the little details like (texture/lighting/contrast) on Blu-ray but sometimes that same stuff made it look too animated in a way
2:15 the bluray version is completely wrong, the steam must cover the explosions because the titans have already passed the ships. the TV version is better in almost every aspect
Why did they want to remove aspects that promoted scale and intensity? The rising steam wave and the explosions the ships lighting up the sky made people hold their breath
i think they really went for that whole "lets make it look like it was actually shot with a camera and not like we drew it" because a lot of the changes were lighting?? like yeah the shadows moved bc theyre more realistic now, they made the lighting consistent throughout the shots instead of randomly deciding which direction the sun was going to be hitting objects in different clips LOL

I know it's subjective but I wanted to give my reasoning.
i prefer the blu ray , it looked terrible imo with just cgi ships doing 360s on the way down
I honestly like the change, it's more realistic and it doesn't really take away what we got in the TV, although I can see where you come from
The colossal Titan swimming is one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen
The smoke moving that fast on the tv version made no sense. The smoke is not supposed to move in the same speed as the colossals, they are just left behind so it made complete sense to slow them
True, makes more sense but slightly less terrifying unfortunately
Ehh I disagree, the smoke is steam and I can see why extremely hot titans would cause violent steam ejection like you see in the TV version
@@lucasmarques6472
Depends on the speed and nature of the chemical reaction.
@@lucasmarques6472 Exactly, these dumb people think staff makes the BD changes out of nothing like they're experts in this regard lol
dude milking the bluray content for all its worth. we're 24 videos in now.
And that is somehow bad?

5:40 town is darker, but sky is brighter, makes sense.
If only they combined the steam flashes on the ships with the explosions, it would be so much dramatic
That lagging bird at the start was pure frustration for me. Thank god
The best change was that fricking bird just freezing up and follow the rest of the shot tbh lmao.
Is there any site where I can download Blu ray quality of anime ?
Technically speaking, the ships shouldn't be emmitting smoke at all. This only indicates that the ships are moving or at full throttle, when in fact, they are stationary.
the founding titan scene LOOKS TERRIFYING! 4:33
No
Not really, and that took away the feelings of the audience.
*The only disappointing thing is **2:15** the ship blast, but I am glad i have the tv version and most people watch only the tv version!*
2:25 The TV version is perfect as it is. Still one of the best scenes in AOT. It gives a more terrifying vibe. One of my favorite shots.
AOT Final Season Part 2 Volume 4 Blu-ray unboxing coming soon...
They also fixed the bird in the Blu Ray at the start.
The only bad change was the distant explosions. Everything else was either on par or better. I get that the Blu ray shot of the distant explosions is more grounded now but the tv version was absolutely awesome. A bad change all around.
It's "bad" because people think it's bad not because really is, BD corrections are not a matter of opinion it's a technical matter. It's corrections of how it should be and not changes
i like the blu-ray of eren founding titan reveal where we can see the front part, it fits the manga version too unlike the tv version where we mostly see the ribcage
2:20 このシーンに関してはTVverの方が遥か先で爆発の光が空に反射して見えてる風景がリアリティあって良いと思う。
ここは安っぽい爆発にすべきではなかったな。改悪と言わざるをえない。
This is the first time I prefer TV over Blu-ray, TV one is so good
0:24 - That bird just does not de-spawn in the TV version.
3:30 blocking commander titan’s face in this scene was unforgivable
If I lose it all slip and fall I will never look away!🎶
Love the changes , they made this cinematic episode even better! I love it!
Is not movie
@@realanimeir3173 lol mappa studios are known for realistic designs not more of cute saturated animation, n that's called cinematic (dark vibes n reality)
Great review 👍
They should have covered the whole thing in smoke effects and called it a day.
And branches, don't forget the branches
Its not that much, and i like it
@UCluM7_phbDZt9nzD6wrWw-w Blue rays are expensive.
I don't like seeing people getting ripped off if this is the final product.
Actually even the TV version was flawed from the foundation. But that's another issue.
@@kocetociparov1089 how are people beeing Ripped off?
@@pcvl9637 Well as you can see people think some changes the blue ray makes are worse or unnecessary.
And moreover they don't add anything significant to the scenes.
And there are still problems that they didn't fix.
Like for that much money I expect a night and day difference.
The Blu-Ray version of Eren showing up at Marley, GOOSEBUMPS!!!!
Good thing I've waiting blu ray, just now..I finished watch final part 2. Can't wait for part 3.
03:36 TV Version Literal Wall Titan walking your way
Blu Ray Literal Wall Titan Skull walking toward your Doom.
I like it.

Eren's reaction to the Titan Paths is still different from the manga
AOE is going to happen
MARK MY WORDS
1:00 I feel like when they decided to change the smoke in this scene, they forgot to remove the old smoke, or make the new smoke blow in the same direction as the old smoke.
4:59 This change is absolute shit
Im fine with every change (most of them are a reall addition) except 3.
the Steam wall ...that was in Tv version so much better and
the explosions of the ships....that was also much better in TV version. no one needed that nuke explosions...They could have add 3 or 4 of that explions to Tv version and fine.
and that blurr effect for young eren was also uneccesary. It looked better in TV you could see his horror.
well... some of the choices for TV look more scary for the viewers, like the shining shots in the mist seeing from the coast.
Thx man👍
I prefer the TV original at 1:55 - 2:16 It just gave more terror at the sudden rush of steam.
2:25 The bluray version looks like some syfy channel effect. I swear I saw that junk on sharktopus vs. whalewolf.
4:33 ES TAN REALISTA QUE DA MIEDO!!
4:53 they also decreased the amount of green lights coming out of eren's eye revealing more details
Tbh, I like TV version of Eren's founding titan. I love how it's not fully shown, and the hair swaying in the smoke
2:15
TV판이 훨씬 낫다
Ok the fleet exploding in blue ray was horrible 😂
I can't be the only one who can smell the box through the screen
The Blu-Ray version has some scenes that look better for sure, but over all I like the TV version better!
The wall Titans glow is a good touch.
Insane ??????? It is what WE were supposed to get
Mappa love's smoke for some reason 💀
The firework rework is sad... much preferred the TV
2:30 the blu ray is actually scarier.
Nah i prefer the tv one. And the blue ray one looks edited in not animated
I’m the only one happy with the changes. The effects were exaggerated in the tv but the blu ray is more accurate
That smoke change is such a shame as its fast approaching wall felt perfect. Same with the sky lighting up felt more disconnected an... showed the ungodly strength an speed of the rummbeling

I like AoT, but this is exactly the problem with popular series that get too comfortable with their own success, especially considering how much merchandise and side projects were launched during gaps.
did they fix the soldier disapearing when he falls over running away from the rumbling?
How could I get acess to the blue-ray videos?Buging online?Which APP on sale?
the explosions on the horizon could have been only seen a little bit and the farther explosions would be the flickering lights in the past animation
this episode was already lit
Honestly the fireworks display in the clouds in better to me
Bruh.. they improve so much on some scenes but then downgrade so hard on others 😩 whyyy
00:18-00:40 - MAPPA fixed the bird, and that's good.
The charging smoke and explosions in the horizon were brilliant in the TV version. I don’t that change.
Even the revealing shot of Eren’s titan was better in TV because the smoke obscuring it just makes the reveal of its scale really menacing.
With eren NOT shown through the mist its WAAAAY BETTER
Hmm overall better animation on tv version but better detailing on Blu-ray version… if that makes sense.
If not pretty much I like the flow of the surroundings and the choices that went behind every situation (perception/dimension/on the tv version and I like the little details like (texture/lighting/contrast) on Blu-ray but sometimes that same stuff made it look too animated in a way
2:15 the bluray version is completely wrong, the steam must cover the explosions because the titans have already passed the ships. the TV version is better in almost every aspect
The ships got launched forward. They aren’t past them yet. Even in the manga they aren’t completely past them.
The only change i felt necessary were bubble streak following the titan swimming and eren's head moving.
Why did they want to remove aspects that promoted scale and intensity? The rising steam wave and the explosions the ships lighting up the sky made people hold their breath
Will the bluray changes be added to streaming services or do you have to buy the bluray? I don't know how it works?
i think they really went for that whole "lets make it look like it was actually shot with a camera and not like we drew it" because a lot of the changes were lighting?? like yeah the shadows moved bc theyre more realistic now, they made the lighting consistent throughout the shots instead of randomly deciding which direction the sun was going to be hitting objects in different clips LOL
Hmm, there's a lot of things in the blu-ray version of this season that i don't like, but honestly they did a great job, i prefer the tv version for this one
These are mostly great additions but like for 5 episodes ??? Im just gonna wait for a complete series blu ray or at least as close to that that we’ll get
2:37 lmao just find out, houses are under water in tv😂 someone forgot to add color
