- These are clips I took in August of 2010 around Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM. Featured are New Mexico RailRunner Express commuter trains, Amtrak's Southwest Chief, and the Santa Fe Southern excursion train.

Thank you! They have a really neat paint scheme. The "door closing" sound on the passenger cars is a recording of the "meep meep" sound from the old Roadrunner cartoons, which is pretty funny too.
Like... ...that we do a car horn
That meep meep door sound is hands down the most hilarious thing about the service 🤣
The Railrunner is a great ride and fares are more than reasonable. Unfortunately it has its critics that don't understand public transit is not to make a profit but to just have the service, which a great deal of planning makes it worthwhile...especially on the south end with the connection to Socorro...incredibly inexpensive!

The ATSF (Santa Fe) Railroad merged with Burlington Northern in 1997 to become BNSF. The Santa Fe Southern Railroad is in no way related to either of those companies other than the fact that it runs on the old ATSF branch from Lamy to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

I live in Albuquerque. New Mexico is SO underrated. I wish it was as packed with train action as say, SoCal or Illinois. But you have to have a sharp eye if you want to study rail history in New Mexico. Back then, it dominated the state.
Great video, as expected. I like your 40-second lead-in. Also it's fun to hear a locomotive that doesn't need to have a constant-rpm revving up from a start.
Albuquerque was my home town and my dad worked for Sante Fe rail road and I've road the trains out of Albuquerque many times, left there in 1952
You've 'rode' the trains ... Please massacre the English language.
Thanks! I'm pretty sure they do. The older ones (1101 - 1105 I think) sound better than the newer ones (1107 at the end of the video). Since these were all built relatively recently, they didn't go through all the choke bs that Coaster had to deal with.
After the either Chicago-bound or LA-bound Amtrak Southwest Chief blasts by I think all the horn action from that NM Rail Runner MP36PH-3C is so railtastic
11 years later. Wow
The "closing doors" sound on the passenger cars is the
"meep meep" sound like in the road runner cartoons. It's pretty funny.
It should be “BEEP BEEP!” on all trains when it closes
“MEEP MEEP!” and “BEEP BEEP!” are different
I loled at the meep meep when the doors closed that's genius!!
Ever since I've heard about the New Mexico Rail Runner I have always wanted to see it. I think it is so cool the way the rode runner is on the side of the MP36PH-3Cs.

That's funny, instead of "Caution, the doors are about to close" like on the Metra, it's "Meep Meep" on the New Mexico Rail Runner. My dad likes the old road runner cartoons.
Mmetra MP36 407
@Metra MP36 407, only Caltrain, metra and Virginia Railway Express have gallery cars and only those railroads have the "Caution the doors are about to close" announcement and the others are just a high pitch beeping sound like Metrolink's and others commuter rails. Rail runners is road runners keep sound.
You can hear the door closing at 7:38

That is a clip from 3751's 2010 excursion to San Diego. I never uploaded a full video with all my clips from that excursion unfortunately.
"Attention! Doors Closing! **three seconds later** "Meep Meep" "Meep Meep". That's such a cool feature!
It should be "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP" AKA a big rig's back-up alarm!
stampycatfan01 Yeah
mj0820 Train Productions yes three seconds later amtrak passed
mj0820 Train Productions hymmu
???
Haha, thank you! Yeah, some of them are pretty funky.
I recently got a True Line Trains HO-Scale New Mexico Rail Runner MP36PH-3C, #109 to be exact. It was a birthday present. Unfortunetly I have to send it back to to bad damage.
Tail feathers on Bi-Level carriages give the illusion of speed. I have ridden on the Go Transit trains using the same Bombardier carriages between Toronto and Barrie, ON. Nice riding carriages and a great view from the upper deck.
Anthony
I've been trying to find this "meep meep" sound for ages.
I live here in Albuquerque NM and ride the Rail Runner daily,Great experience

2:01 part of me likes this bell better than the regular e-bell we have on most trains
It's An Transtronic E-Bell
I really miss new mexico
That's cool! I like it! Love the paint scheme on the commuter trains you all have. I also like the "beep-beep" signal of the doors closing, very original!
i didn't know they had commuter trains in new mexico!
like the Rail Runner livery, very cool
I love the Rail Runner and I wanna go on a ride on it again! Hopefully RSV Flu and COVID will settle down soon
Very enjoyable video - the selection of trains is much appreciated. That's a classy paint job on the Rail Runner. I wonder if it makes the train go faster?!!
I’ve never been on a bombardier bi-level before.. it looks comfortable though!
2:00 that e-bell sounds different! it sounds like the ones on Canadian locomotives!
5:16 Nice catch of a 2-car railrunner!
6:31 that horn sounds nice!
Do freight trains even run on the rail Runner route? The Southwest Chief does for a good portion!
MrBnsftrain j huuougreewwwwfiuggygfteyuyuiiooiiuutrrew
@@cinthiarodriguez9524 I agree
It’s a Transtronic E Bell
I live in NM and taking the rail runner to Santa Fe is way better than driving.
Is rail runner partially public funded? Good to see them like the old C&NW, now METRA.Great horn sounds BTW
New Mexico Rail Runner Express is actually owned by the DOT
Great catch with the Southwest Chief
the type of cabcar can be also found Orlando's newest Passenger train, Sunrail. the bell on both Sunrail and Rail Runner cabcars is very loud to be honest;)
Nice! I have always wanted to tape RailRunner.
Canadian e-bell.
That has got to be my favorite commuter rail, besides the south shore.
Thank you!
Nice!! Those cabcars sound pretty good! Do they still sound like that today that you know?
Haha the door closing alarm. I'm jealous.
Its absolutely hilarious I can't get over it
Nice video! I agree about that RR livery colors...very cool!
Cable bus y metro nos vayamos en el Oxxo de la abuela
❤
JPBX 120 uses the same bell as the NMRX cab cars
One thing for sure, all of the NMRX cab cars and the Caltrain Cab Car 120 actually uses the Transtronic E-bell.
@@ericfung5279 yep
nice looking trains!!
You make the best jod with trains
Nice video! The chicken-design looks very good. Also the "meep meep"-door-closing-sound is quite funny :D

Sadly santa fe southern railroad went out of business anout 3-4 years ago and most of there stock has been went sold off . ATM that I write this I'm Santa Fe the only thing I see if SFSR is a passenger are that's it I m not sure about lamy tho since they do store a few more cars there but theres no telling
I was in Lamy last week. They have several passenger cars and two locomotives sitting there.
Love your videos
I like this video!
Harry Truman Productions me too this is like the Metrolink some how
schönes und abwechslungsreiches Video
Always take the Rail Runner from Albuquerque to Sante Fe. Faster to drive but that's not the point.
i hear a "beep beep" sound! it reminds of roadrunner from Looney Tunes!
The tre and sunrail have that Bell
I prefer a Graham-White E-BELL used on an ES44AC or an SD70ACe!
I been railfanning and recording/NMRX since day 1 July 14, 2006
crazytaxi1000 is right about the bells but the horns are pretty cool
because the K5 on the engines sound like a K3
It’s also like sun rail and go transit 1:59
My uncle work San Diego Old Town near Pacific Surfliner
at the end of the video it looks like its about to storm like crazy
Nice Video Mike
Amt bi levels had the same horn these cab cars had. If they still had k5las and no quiet zones i would hear them
Yea
Love the Rail Runner
I got myself the santa fe n gauge trainset, but this is cool
The meep meep is so much better in person
I like the New Mexico railrunner thanks Mike aswome
Nice vid! The K5LA's sound weird and the bell sounds horrible!!!!
Golden Rails ,
Bell is ok and horn sounds nice
nope more like horn is horrible, but bell is great on the cab cars because it is more calming
An Santa Fe engine was used for an episode of Breaking Bad.
3:03, can I just say that I really like this bell. What type is it?
I didn't think the Rail Runner had a horn. There are sign's in Santa Fe that say the train doesn't blow a horn.

Nice! Do you have family or friends in ABQ?
No, I don't. I was just visiting. It's a really nice place and I'd love to go back sometime, especially when they get the Santa Fe steam locomotive restored in Albuquerque. Thanks!
CoasterFan2105 that cabcar at the end sounds like 2103
yu
Santa Fe Southern Railway has benn shut down in 2014
Everyone: lolling at the "meep meep*
Me:omg I love the horn at 0:18 what horn is it? Or am I dum and it's a fricking k5la
Edit: I'm an atom sized brain. It's a k5la.
Very good video! Goos Job!:)
I've never heared of a Canadian E-bell
Same
VIA rail uses them on there f40's i hear them often since i live near toronto union station and VIA rail runs in and out of the station constantly
Good job
2:06 that's the bell VIA rail uses on they're f40ph's
What type of bell is it?
Transtronic E Bell.
I love your videos so much! I want to be just like you! I wish you'd take me
6:31 is my favorite part
What kind of bell do the NM Rail Runner Bombardier Cab-Coaches have?
A Transtronic 020-0082-00 Electronic Bell.
5:57 Nice horn!
Is the rail runner still going I know they had to shut down temporarily because of covid
Yes, it’s been going all throughout Covid, however there has unfortunately been a stabbing.
@@x3gav what was the stabbing
7:48 if airplanes had a K5LA lol
2:01 what type of E-bell is that. I know it’s not a graham E-bell
It in fact is not a Graham White E-Bell. They sometimes use those kind of bells on trains. It’s the “Canadian E-Bell”.
Josh Playz ok
That is the Transtronic E Bell.
And liked it! ;)
Im going to new mexico!
Great!

Thoughts on recent ACE Derailement?
+Garrett's Trainz Studios! Well, I'm glad that it wasn't any worse and that there were only 4 serious (non life threatening) injuries. Was there anything else you were wondering about in particular?
Well, ACE does own some of the final EMD F40 ever built, so it would be bad if one of those would be damaged. I heard that the storm caused a tree to fall onto the track wich caused the derailment. And yes, Thank god everyone survived.
From the sound of it, only the first 2 cars were damaged. The cab car (#3309) was leading when it hit the tree and derailed. It slid down the embankment. The second car derailed but remained upright (also a cab car, number 3304). I think the others were ok.
hm.
+CoasterFan2105 hey i rode the ace train with my dad a week after the crash and i saw the tarp on the ground where it crashed in niles it looked very scary but i LOVE ace trains with the curved egdes on each car oh yes i live in stockton
Wow, this video almost has 1 million views!
The cab cars that is.
Where's the proposal and plans for N.M.H.S.R.S....that's New Mexico High Speed rail services.
The Santa Fe Southern is bankrupt and no longer operates any passenger trains.
Cool
Are they real all of them?
Thanks for bringing back memories

I used to drive a Chevy, but now I drive a Ford. I used to have a girlfriend, but now I'm just plain bored because I lost my little lady, down around Santa Fe, oh I just got to find a woman to take this lonesome feeling away.
2:00 what bell is this
Canadian E-Bell.
Transtronic E Bell.
5:13 what horn is that?
K3LA??
via rail F40 bell?
What bell chime are they using??
Transtronic E-Bell on the Cab Cars, and Graham White E-Bell on the engines.
5:19 WOAH! I know that one from your other videos!
