FAQ's:
Q: The computer displays to the external monitor fine but not to the computer screen.
A: If your computer displays to an external monitor but will not display to its own LCD, then your most likely looking at an LCD or LCD Cable issue. 'Reseat' the cable by unplugging it from the motherboard and the LCD. Then plug it back in to insure a proper connection. If that does not help, then replace the cable. If that does not help, replace the LCD.
Q: I tried all these tests but nothing helped and the computer wont even display to an external monitor.
A: If you have tried all these tests and have not been able to identify the issue, and the computer would not display to an external monitor, then your most likely looking at a motherboard issue. It should be replaced. Let me know if you would like any assistance with that process :)

Thanks, funny you should say that...! It worked fine all afternoon, then did a 'computer needs to do updates' message, said 'please do not switch off while doing updates' then shortly afterwards went blank again. Have done the usual (turned on and off, etc), no joy. Whirring, little light on, but screen just like before we replaced the ram stick... Has it got a fault that 'blows' ram sticks? Any ideas? Thanks!

2 tips: 1. Replace "Lenovo" in your title with "Toshiba", since you're focussing on a Toshiba.. ;) 2. When plugging in your laptop to another screen, hit Windows key +P and then use the cursor down keys to switch to 'duplicate screen', 'extend', etc.. to see if you can get the other screen to come up. Thanks for the vid tho.. I'm hoping to check some things out on a Lenovo laptop within the next few days.
Win + p neither win+shift+control+b will work.

I have an unusual situation. In addition to not working (but obviously being on), whenever I plug an external monitor in, the laptop screen DOES work, but for less than a second before going back to black. If I unplug the monitor, it once again flashes and reverts to darkness.

I found out that if you close the lid, it is then going to send the signal to external monitor. But it might differ with each model. Great videos btw, very good explanations. I have some Lenovo E560's with blacks creen AFTER the Lenovo logo which im trying to resolve. Hopefully that other link will help!
Yes, some computers, that will help. Others are a super pain. Some you have to physically unplug the LCD Cable from the Motherboard to force signal to external lol. Lame

WRVTHH ~ Sorry , i managed to get into Bios with either Delete or F2 key 💻 and set her Laptop to default but managed to save her documents & some files. i believe it was a Program or app causing the issue, default got rid of all software she downloaded, been fine ever since. She only has 8 gigs of Ram, i’m going to upgrade it to 16gb = helps with system stability , etc ..... when you get into Bios look for advanced options / Repair tools, that’s we’re you can set it to factory settings. My Lenovo laptop doesn't have any issue by I accidentally turned off the screen display light by mistake ... what's the remedy for this...kindly assist
Hey so I have this problem where when I start the laptop it just lights up but it doesn't show anything, not even the logo and the loading screen. If I connect an HDMI cable to another monitor it shows only on the second display. So I'm not quite sure about the origin of the problem and if the video is about that.
If your computer displays to an external monitor but will not display to its own LCD, then your most likely looking at an LCD or LCD Cable issue. 'Reseat' the cable by unplugging it from the motherboard and the LCD. Then plug it back in to insure a proper connection. If that does not help, then replace the cable. Dang, it's so hard to believe it but this actually worked!
So, my laptop (Legion 5 pro) was working normally then all of a sudden, it completely froze, something that has never happened to me before. I tried waiting a while, but that didn't work, the screen just remained frozen. I eventually gave up and decided to force shut it down with the power-off button, but when I tried turning it back on, the screen would just not work (the keyboard was still turning on tho, the fans too).
I tried every solution I could find, from draining the battery, holding the power-on button for 60 seconds, disconnecting and reconnecting the charger, trying to enter the BIOS unsuccessfully, trying to use those ctrl+ win key + shift + B keys, and it did absolutely nothing. I even disconnected and reconnected both ram stick with no luck. But I didn't think of disconnecting just one at a time, and after watching this video and doing it, I found that one of my ram sticks apparently went bad.
So, thank you so much, you're a lifesafer! I literally cannot afford to take my laptop to a repair shop, but I think I should be able to replace a single ram stick. Thank you🥺

First of all wow a very thorough guide + professional!
Ty the laptop started working but not sure what happened. I did everything but it didn't work; as soon as I plugged it in a spare monitor both monitor and laptop display started working.. confused about that but thanks!
Sometimes computers have issues and just need to be refreshed. Not a huge deal unless it happens again. In your case, it sounds like the just stopped sending the display signal and needed to be 'reminded' to do so with the addition of the external display. If that happens again, let me know. Glad your all set :)

Wow I really appreciate how thorough you are in explaining things. I have this one question, my HP laptop stopped working a few years ago after we lost power one day and it was restored without a surge protector. I assumed it was junk and bought a new one.. recently I have a need for a second computer and I looked further into the old one. I first learned the LED codes of various lights.. With that info I learned the charger was bad, my new hp uses the same specification charger so I used that. Then the laptop would turn on, but no screen... so the caps lock LED blinks twice and I've read this is a BIOS issue.. Question being, do I need to reinstall the BIOS? Or could it be the battery, C Mos? OR whatever you called the battery for the BIOS lol Any help would be greatly appreciated
For a BIOS issue, I would first try a simple manual reset as seen here; ruclips.net/video/76I2Ec9K7lw/видео.html
If that fails to help, and the computer has been off for a while, its possible the CMOS battery is dead. I would then try replacing it. They are pretty cheap

Can I reinstall the BIOS with this situation? Thank you in advance for any insight..
@@scottsaint2122 Have you tried the other steps as well? RAM test and external monitor test?

Ive went through all your videos to fix the problem of the screen not coming on.. let me say this.. I would start with the hdmi before taking anything apart.
