If anyone is experiencing a black screen which seems to be off, the power button is still on and holding the power button doesn't turn the laptop off. What worked for me was to just unplug from the power source and literally let the laptop drain power until its dead, then once the power light is off meaning its dead, reconnect the power cable and press the power button, for me it was able to boot up properly again.

Hi, thanks for the update. You shouldn't have to do it more than once. If it's happening with every startup like you said, it might be a different problem altogether. @@PulsarTECH hello y it happens and is there anything to prevent it from happening again. Plz help. I use your method and it worked but dont know why it happened out of nowhere. It was my new laptop tho.
@@pemagyalpo5070 hi, I think it's because of some faulty updates. So if you keep your computer always offline then you're probably safe. But since there's no easy way to disable updates anymore then unfortunately no. The good news you're most likely gonna be fine.
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 user here, my laptop is fairly new (6 months old) and I literally had the device working fine yesterday opened it today to find the same issue as yours: - power on, screen display dead - I can hear the fans working - I noticed that caps lock key, num lock key don’t work when I tap on them (the little dot light on the buttons don’t turn on) - don’t know if this info is helpful but, when I purchased this laptop, i wanted the battery life to be long so i had Lenovo’s energy saving settings of my battery on (the one where it stops charging the battery at 75% to 80%) so i noticed that when i charge my battery, it has an ORANGE light displayed at the back of my laptop (indicating that it didn’t surpass 80% i assume) but when the screen display died today, i could see the light color as WHITE (indicating that it’s at least more than 80% or 90%) I don’t understand how the energy saving option was turned off?? I tried your method but unfortunately it did not work.. I was pretty excited to see it work though :) any ideas? thank you in advance !
Hi, I also use Lenovo's battery saving feature to extend the battery life. I don't think it has to do anything with that feature though. Most likely it is related to either some faulty updates for the graphics card or maybe a power surge. But the real reason behind it is not known. By the way, did it work for you?
@@PulsarTECH I tried your method but unfortunately it did not work, I am happy it worked for you and the others though :) I do have a question when you mentioned the power surge: I changed where I usually put my charger 🔌 on a different socket, I used my laptop on the new socket for a day and then this problem arises.. I think that is most probably the issue I will try to change it back to the where the old one is and update you with the info… praying this works! Update: Unfortunately this doesn’t work too.. Do you have a solution if it were because of a power surge? UPDATE 2: IT WORKS!! 🎉🎉 as I said I changed back the charger 🔌 to the old socket AND tried your 60 second power button method WITH the charger connected, then powered it on normally, then waited a GOOD while (maybe 5 to 10 mins) THEN BOOM LENOVO LOGOOOO LES GOOOO!!!!!! Thank you so much! It just happened to me and I almost had a heart attack 😅 Like other people said in the comments, you’re a life saver!
Hi Debora, glad it was helpful. Thanks for the comment!
Great troubleshooting video, thank you very much!
You're very welcome, thanks for watching!
You are a true life saver, nearly had to drop out of a contest because of this problem

@@herc6739 once, check your bios or replace the display mate.
Was it a display thing.
Bro thanks.. you saved my life.. I was about to call a technician because I thought the screen was damaged! You were the best tutorial….
Happy to help. Thanks for your comment and feedback.
It still doesn’t work
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 user here, my laptop is fairly new (6 months old) and I literally had the device working fine yesterday
opened it today to find the same issue as yours:
- power on, screen display dead
- I can hear the fans working
- I noticed that caps lock key, num lock key don’t work when I tap on them (the little dot light on the buttons don’t turn on)
- don’t know if this info is helpful but, when I purchased this laptop, i wanted the battery life to be long so i had Lenovo’s energy saving settings of my battery on (the one where it stops charging the battery at 75% to 80%) so i noticed that when i charge my battery, it has an ORANGE light displayed at the back of my laptop (indicating that it didn’t surpass 80% i assume) but when the screen display died today, i could see the light color as WHITE (indicating that it’s at least more than 80% or 90%)
I don’t understand how the energy saving option was turned off??
I tried your method but unfortunately it did not work.. I was pretty excited to see it work though :)
any ideas? thank you in advance !
Hi, I also use Lenovo's battery saving feature to extend the battery life. I don't think it has to do anything with that feature though. Most likely it is related to either some faulty updates for the graphics card or maybe a power surge. But the real reason behind it is not known. By the way, did it work for you?
@@PulsarTECH I tried your method but unfortunately it did not work, I am happy it worked for you and the others though :)
I do have a question when you mentioned the power surge:
I changed where I usually put my charger 🔌 on a different socket, I used my laptop on the new socket for a day and then this problem arises.. I think that is most probably the issue
I will try to change it back to the where the old one is and update you with the info… praying this works!
I thank God for finding your channel!!! May God Bless You!!! 💗💗💗💗
very glad to hear that it worked for you, thanks for the update! @@emanstudied
@@PulsarTECH you’re most welcome :)
do I have to do something else to ensure this doesn’t happen again? I checked for any graphics updates and found out that there is one.. I then updated it!
no, it should be fine @@emanstudied
Not working for me 😢😢😢

This is the second time i am here, first time i had a panic attack, this time i knew where to go. Thans for the fix mate, you are a lifesaver!😊
Glad to hear that! I'm glad it was helpful.
Idk how you get, what to do! But THANK YOU! Today had such problem with my mom's laptop. Also 5, also legion. I was ready to give up, and take it to service, but saw your video, and it saved me🎉 thank you!( how does it work?! because i couldn't open even BIOS, couldn't wake up it 😂 Thank you!)
Thanks, dear friend! The first time, for this reason, my motherboard was replaced under warranty. Now I found this video and fixed it myself!
Yep, I've heard some terrible stories about authorized service centers, where they simply replace parts no matter what is wrong with them. But who knows, maybe it was something else. I hope it was free.
Thanks dude. I hope you are proud of yourself. This video saved me after hours of panicking.
Glad it helped
My man just saved me a major argument with my gf who happened to vacuum on my laptop minutes before i got this black screen. Fixed it good. Thanks so much!
Glad it worked for you!
Wow man!! I was pissed that now I'd have it to the service centre. I thought some major must have occurred. What a great and quick fix. Thank you!!
Perfect. Glad to hear that!
Pretty sure you've probably heard this a lot, but seriously, thanks a lot man! I was totally freaking out, and I decided to give the steps from your video a shot, with zero hope, but they actually worked.
Hi, I appreciate your feedback and truly glad that it was helpful!
