The devs did mention that they based Akuma's muscles off real life animals like chimpanzee instead of just humans, which results in his somewhat leathery skin. Now that I took a look at how adult chimpanzees look and their musculature, they do have a similar kind of "roid gut". I guess since they're basing Akuma's physique off chimpanzees, it tracks out, but it still looks somewhat uncanny on a human, lol.
Also, I have to defend Akuma's gut. He doesn't have roid gut (aka palumboism, or diabetic neuropathy). He just has 'underdeveloped' pecks. Usually, when you get older, your chest muscles get smaller which I think is what they're going for. JP has the same look. A distended gut caused by HGH abuse would also be jutting sideways.
A large chest is actually detrimental to fighting. If you look at most UFC fighters they only have very lean chest muscles just like Akuma because a large chest don't help with punches at all, and only serves as dead weight in a real fight. The HGH gut is either from old age or his body giving into the Satsui no Hado.
The new AKI costume is so unexpected but I'm in love with it. If she came up to me on the street asking me to sign some petition for ambiguous politics, I'd actually do it for a change.

Note on only losing half a bar of drive on punish throws w/ perfect parry - Akuma doesn't seem to get the normal amount of gauge you would for a punish throw. Hard to tell since it crosses level, but it looks like half.
This is just a snippet of all the changes the patch will bring. Maybe we should all collectively take a deep breath and wait til we get our hands on the actual patch notes before we start moaning.
Grappler needs good strikes. How else are you gonna enforce a throw game if you have zero strikes to enforce blocking behavior? All the sucky grappler Capcom made all suck because their strikes are garbage.

The reason us Manon players don't care is because we can already do this by spending drive meter but it's not really useful except to spend resources. If she could combo into her regular spin kick THAT would be an incredible change.
For the Chun Change, if they increased the hitstun to make able it combo into 4HP from drive rush, that means it might be +4 on hit instead of +2, which means that it could combo into 2MK or EX Lightning Legs on Punish Counter. A nice compensation for her losing her single hit confirm!

Can someone please explain to me what it means by Chun losing her single hit confirm? What I was initially thinking was that 4MP/6MP wouldn't be able to single hit confirm into DR at all but that doesn't seem to be the case. And usually moves that can't be canceled into DR can't be hit confirmed into any special moves at all. Like her 5HP for example (with the exemption of her stance.)
Only real problem I have with A.K.I.'s costume 3 are the glasses. I wish SFVI had SFV's feature where costume alterations are an option when certain buttons are held down.

The problem with these costumes is costume 2 is better. For people worrying, this is clearly focusing on buffs. If half the stuff streamers got to play in the new build is accurate, there's a LOT of nerfs to top tier characters. And a lot of those target combo changes fit a pattern. They appear to be trying to give rarely used tools something to make them useful, at least situationally. Marisa's kick combo has it's uses, but doesn't really go into anything, which is why it isn't used. Having a solid option to secure that damage may make it actually used. Same deal with a lot of these things and hopefully it gets the job done.

The main problem with Manon is that it's hard for her to get any meaningful openings (landing a bHP, basically). Getting extra damage from a big confirm or punish is nice, but it's not gonna solve that.

JP, you have to activate lvl2 using 2 drive gauge now. Not a block string anymore if you active from heavy normal.
