The devs did mention that they based Akuma's muscles off real life animals like chimpanzee instead of just humans, which results in his somewhat leathery skin. Now that I took a look at how adult chimpanzees look and their musculature, they do have a similar kind of "roid gut". I guess since they're basing Akuma's physique off chimpanzees, it tracks out, but it still looks somewhat uncanny on a human, lol.
Also, I have to defend Akuma's gut. He doesn't have roid gut (aka palumboism, or diabetic neuropathy). He just has 'underdeveloped' pecks. Usually, when you get older, your chest muscles get smaller which I think is what they're going for. JP has the same look. A distended gut caused by HGH abuse would also be jutting sideways.
A large chest is actually detrimental to fighting. If you look at most UFC fighters they only have very lean chest muscles just like Akuma because a large chest don't help with punches at all, and only serves as dead weight in a real fight. The HGH gut is either from old age or his body giving into the Satsui no Hado.
The new AKI costume is so unexpected but I'm in love with it. If she came up to me on the street asking me to sign some petition for ambiguous politics, I'd actually do it for a change.

The problem with these costumes is costume 2 is better. Rashid is a soccer player which is weird, Aki is one of those California elite fashionista (best way to describe is dead island 2 house dlc), Ed is Ed, and akuma doesn't change much so why spend money on it especially with how much money these costumes cost.
The reason us Manon players don't care is because we can already do this by spending drive meter but it's not really useful except to spend resources. If she could combo into her regular spin kick THAT would be an incredible change.
The Akuma gut makes sense now, after that video released of Capcom devs modeling the characters after real body builders. They used literal roided out people to model their characters. Probably had no idea that they weren't natural martial artist body types.

For people worrying, this is clearly focusing on buffs. If half the stuff streamers got to play in the new build is accurate, there's a LOT of nerfs to top tier characters. And a lot of those target combo changes fit a pattern. They appear to be trying to give rarely used tools something to make them useful, at least situationally. Marisa's kick combo has it's uses, but doesn't really go into anything, which is why it isn't used. Having a solid option to secure that damage may make it actually used. Same deal with a lot of these things and hopefully it gets the job done.
Only real problem I have with A.K.I.'s costume 3 are the glasses. I wish SFVI had SFV's feature where costume alterations are an option when certain buttons are held down.

She's starting that combo with crMP > DR, which is already 3 bars, plus the 2 extra bars for the EX spinny thingy. The main problem with Manon is that it's hard for her to get any meaningful openings (landing a bHP, basically). Getting extra damage from a big confirm or punish is nice, but it's not gonna solve that.
@@Ninieru Well you do not always need to start the combo that way since her bHP can be hit-confirmed plus her cMK is also a combo starter once this update happens. Plus her command grab is great at opening people up and does very good damage. You need to make the enemy terrified of that.

Its just a way cooler iteration of what he used to have. its pretty clear that a big focus on bringing Ed back was to improve what used to be a very divisive character and give them a new chance which i think its fair to say they succeeded given he's in the top 5 most played characters now.

I feel like the new team really wanted to show they can "redeem" certain characters, lol. That Ed's costume though? Still bad. Less bad than it was in SFV, but I think making something new would've been better. Even if they wanted the idea of a military outfit again, just... A decent color palette this time. Teal, gold, red, white and black on top of a character with purple power. It's awful. I'd also choose a cap cap that doesn't like a stripper's.

Has a fighting game posted patch notes before they went live? I dunno considering all the games i've played it just seems silly to ask any dev to publish notes for something that might not even be fully finalized. FGC twitter needs to stop being so damn impatient and doomsaying everything they dont even know the context of.

She's starting that combo with crMP > DR, which is already 3 bars, plus the 2 extra bars for the EX spinny thingy.
The main problem with Manon is that it's hard for her to get any meaningful openings (landing a bHP, basically). Getting extra damage from a big confirm or punish is nice, but it's not gonna solve that.
@@Ninieru Well you do not always need to start the combo that way since her bHP can be hit-confirmed plus her cMK is also a combo starter once this update happens. Plus her command grab is great at opening people up and does very good damage. You need to make the enemy terrified of that.

the round glasses and short hair on sides/longer on top is giving Kim Kitsuragi! Is there an orange and black/olive colour for it? agree about ed. getting nostalgia costumes as "new" 'stumes is a bit of a lamer.
But it looks nothing like the old costume. Its just a way cooler iteration of what he used to have. its pretty clear that a big focus on bringing Ed back was to improve what used to be a very divisive character and give them a new chance which i think its fair to say they succeeded given he's in the top 5 most played characters now.
