I've said it before, but I love how Ed went from being one of the simplest characters to one with a lot of depth now. This is easily the superior version of him from a gameplay design perspective.
people can balk at him getting in so quick over fan favorites and third strike goobers but i think this sort of gameplay redemption really makes up for it. getting a really interesting second pass and making him a character worth playing past a mash special definitely means more to me than like, necro getting in (and i love necro with my whole heart it is CRIMINAL he only got to brew a potion last game)

No 3rd Strike characters but HE got in? It's pretty easy to see why people were hating, if you actually sit and think
I love Ed's animations. He might actually turn into my submain once Akuma comes out and everyone switches hype (I know I won't play Akuma I'm not really into traditional shotos anymore)

The properties of his punches and kicks feel so backwards, I wonder if it would be easier to learn Ed by swapping your punch and kick buttons in your button config, lol.

I don't think it's that backwards aside from his crouching punches being his lows. However his kick buttons are very consistently pokes you're meant to throw out in neutral.
I watched your Ed video and felt like my time to finally climb through plat on modern juri was here, but I actually went from plat 1 to Gold 3. The only non Ed matches I got were a literal mirror juri down to the costume and color, and a Marisa that I destroyed on the runback. Ed is causing serious setbacks to my quest to take modern juri and classic Aki from rookie to master.

I just saw Brain_F using Ed in rank and he loves using the psycho snatcher move. Not even the ex version. Also, MC Mura was comparing ex snatcher to SFV Poison's ex heart raid.
I think I kidna get the idea behid Ed - trap opponent with pluses and fish for counter hits But idk, aside of counter hits, even with full resources, it feels like he needs to press a million buttons just to get damage of light spd
i still don't get why they chose to make foward + punch from the sway every other character has a normal input from a run, but not ed you have to delay for a different input but the delay is not consistent
@@bigjc5546the late version doesn't extend combos well when they're in a juggle already. It's a mainly a launcher, for the good stuff in juggles u have the early version. On the corner it doesn't really matter bc the thing that makes the late version bad at juggling is that it sends the opponent too far, and that can't happen on the corner XD
I'm gonna try best to not go crazy about the sweeps, because 1) 0:50 in, and 2) "to each their own intro to fighters", but we cant forget Ed got his moves from homeboy Boxer-- that can't go unchecked. Even Nessa's 3B, --like that shit was 3rd strike Chun with no gloves on. Crouching Roundhouse;Hidden sweep lore, everyone.
1:28 yeah, I agree. Those two things are kind of weird, crouch heavy punch should have stayed the normal anti air and the flickers seem kind of reversed when crouched.
I have a formula chart theory checklist for showing if characters have potential for top tier status. Do they have these qualities: a projectile, a true anti air, easy to use, safe overall moveset, great mobility, and supers with multiple uses. Usually this hasn't failed me. Ed checks all of these except "Probably" easy to use. I think it's subjective at that point.
I'm glad Ed is definitely cooler and has a better kit, I tried him out a few times but I couldn't really get into how he plays. It's early days for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being pretty weak, it seems he struggles to open up without whiff punishing, once people learn the tricks and frame traps he might be incredibly hard to use at high level

I can't help but imagine Akuma's raging demon might be slightly nerfed in this game just given the OD system and how crucial drive meter is to SF6. A lot of mixes he got for free in SF5 will probably cost meter and/or be less free in 6.
I really think the command dash should be a motion imput My adhd brain already can comprehend his punch having kicks propeties and his kick been punches I dont know but in the previous games balrog and dudley kit were more intuitive even they punches were kicks
Honestly, I didn't think I was going to like him so much that I want to main him. I thought I was gonna suffer with Ryu until C.Viper. (lol, yeah right- Viper being added to SF6 LOL) Ryu buffs are really good, but Ed reflects me more as a person/player and I love that he really *appears* like a "character loyalist" sort of investment is required for top-level play as we know. Need to mess with AKI changes aside from Ryu changes, but I'm too busy with the allure of Ed for now. This is a huge breath of life into SF6, game was getting so stale that I haven't cared about the last ~3 battle passes.
A little sad that charged st.hp is basically useless as an anti fireball tool. What's the point of even making it like that when it takes a whole year to charge and gets beaten by any multi hitting projectile.
@nymous It's can be okay in burnout but it's easily jumped and punished even in burnout. It's not a particularly good move. It was much better in 5 at least the charged version. Regular st.hp is a god button.
The extra F+Punch after his Kill Rush just doesn’t compute in my tiny little brain. Feels an unnecessary complication. I do think he’s a cool character , though not as cool as AKI of course.

Unless something happens, Ryu has ZERO answers against Ed. I've been playing many MASTER rank Ed Japanese players using Ryu and each and every time I fight them, I get something rocked and ruled over nearly each and every time. I'm sorry to say but if Capcom don't do anything for Ryu soon then he will be out of the SF6 runnings (yes, against Ed, Ryu's Hashogeki buffs are NOT enough and I knew they wouldn't be enough too). I cannot believe Capcom didn't test Ryu against Ed properly Ed completely has Ryu beat in FRAMES, all thanks to 3 frames of animations that slaughters Ryu. If anyone disagree then please, PROVE IT. Show me Ryu beating a Japanese MASTER RANK Ed "consistently" because I tell you what, the way most Japanese are using him are different from the way EndingWalker, SnakeEyes and other people in the west has been using him. No. Do not use Ken or any other character, just use Ryu against a Japanese Master Rank players that use Ed. BroSki, any thoughts?

His Modern form is also good. He loses two crouch normals, three air normals, and nothing else.

Well, it’s not like the move is mandatory. It’s mainly used to optimize but, you don’t have to use it. At least from what I know.
