Momochi is very calm, stable, patient, he was walking back and forth with ease. Endingwalker had the character knowledge, with all of the snatchers that blew through Momochi's, while also playing more aggressive, trying to stay in and force Momochi to engage. And that character knowledge paid off right at the end: he knew he could move through the Level 2 clash, and catch Momochi just slightly off guard long enough to get those last hits. It's great Street Fighter.
Considering how many players play Ed in Japan and the fact that Momochi mains Ed anyway, I think Momochi had just as much character knowledge if not more than Endingwalker. It really just came down to Endingwalker’s aggressive style being more effective than a reserved and calm style (Momochi) when it comes to an Ed mirror match. This makes sense because 2 Ed’s playing calm and reserved just nullify each other. So both players are forced to be aggressive to get anything from the game, which is something Endingwalker is suited to since that’s his style whilst this would be more uncomfortable for Momochi.
As an Ed main, this was a clashing of titans. I've kept up with these two and have always wanted to see them go toe-to-toe in a match. Ed is by far my favorite SF6 character to watch, and it's crazy how much player expression is shown in these matches Punk deserved his win, even if I wanted one of these two to win. But honestly, getting this match was better for me than either of them making Grand Finals
This was possibly my most favorite top 8 (or 6 rather ) of any street fighter at Evo i've ever witnessed. No Ken. No Luke. No Blanka. No Akuma. No Guile. the unexpected Ed mirror match. Nuts... totally nuts.
Endingwalker pretty much was in control for most of the set and he was winning neutral against Momochi. Really impressive. Also this has to be the best mirror match I’ve watched in any game. Normally mirror match tends to be not good. What a set!
I cannot even fathom how incredibly good these guys are. It's a mirror match, but they play the character so differently that it feels like it isn't a mirror match.
