Excellent commentary and review of condo living in those studio units. Prospective expats, you should do as our host has done, BEFORE entering into a one-year or long-term lease for a condo unit, stay a few days at each condo complex you are considering. That's the only way you are going to discover the "deal breakers" to entering a long-term lease. You don't want to be like "Rob" who is an American expat vlogger now living in a beautiful luxurious home under $850 USD monthly. Prior to finding that gem he described the prior year (2023-24) of breaking leases every few days or months because he and his Filipina GF (now his wife) were horrified about this or that after moving in. E.g, in a residential area where dogs were not allowed, their neighbor nevertheless bred fighting dogs, who of course were barking, wailing, playing, and yelping 24/7. Men, do you due-diligence BEFORE signing on the dotted line!
To me many miles away, I think, One Oasis is too isolated and it seems to have the Ghost town feel, plus the non-stop construction noise would drive me nuts.
thank you so much for the video. my eyes grew big as i saw familiar surroundings from the last two visits i had. the next time you're in cdo, you try the loop residences. great rooms at great prices. the rom i stayed at had me looking at the one oasis frm the balcony
I love the Philippines but the condos are 2nd rate with Thailand especially when you compare prices. Anyway another great video always so much content. 👍
You need to get a pair of "Anker Space A40 Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds." The best feature is that it blocks 98% of noise. E.g., I have window AC unit in the bedroom that's 3 feet from my pillow. With these earbuds set at max noise canceling I cannot hear the AC unit running at max power. E.g., last night someone in the building next to mine was having a late night party. At 1:00 AM (my bedtime) I could hear them loudly and clearly. Put on these earbuds, could not hear a peep from those boisterous partygoers. IMO noise canceling earbuds should be issued to expats by appropriate Embassy personnel as the expat is deplaning on to Philippine soil. Using your experience as an example of why noise canceling earbuds are essential: at 22:43 there's a church at 5 AM bellowing its version of military reveille (with roosters crowing along to the melody); and at 13:57 we hear that on a Sunday at 9.30 AM (but probably earlier?) there's a hard-working backhoe operator digging his job.
@@keithd1219 I forgot to mention that I like these so much that I have stopped using my other ear buds, and now have four pairs of these, which ended up costing me around $230 USD.
I stayed at the Loop condos right across from Limketkai mall. The call to prayer every morning at 4:30am from a nearby mosque woke me up daily. Uptown is a quieter area and nicer.
Thanks for giving us your thoughts on living in different Condos in CDO. I have made a few trips to the Philippines, but I have never been to CDO. I'm interested in what the dating is like in CDO. Can you do a video on what the dating is like in CDO?
I could, but it would make for a very short video. Better if you stay here awhile, as you need to be extremely patient. Filipinas here mostly expect Date to Marry.
Philip. The 2nd condo was better in many ways. Gym pool and the physical spaces looked more open and relaxing. Its quite possible that you could find much better place if you were to really look. I suppose you have to take in consideration the larger picture of infrastructure services restaurant quality and the social opportunities. Nice video.. keep up your workouts. You are doing good for your health mind and body
You were lucky with the pool and gym. I live in an smdc condo in manila and if you are abb you have to pay 150 to swim and 300 if its a public holiday and you can not use the gym
Apartment looked like a dark train. This was really loud, my god. I do like the "Ruhezeit" laws in Germany... So peaceful... Lol I'm surprised you didn't abandon ship faster!
I agree 100% - must have a balcony. I have always been curious what it is like to live in CDO - are foreigners well received there, are there lots of opportunities, is the nightlife good, all the things a single person would want to know.
I don't think I would live in either of those condo's Philip. The first one way too noisy and the walk in the water after a flood would put me off. The second one looked promising, but it looks like the sun hardly ever hits the pool area. I looked at a condo in Avida Riala (IT Park), a few months back and that had the same problem. So far I have stayed in Solinea, Avira Towers and now in Mactan Newtown. They all have their pro's and cons. How is Davao? Have you done a similar video for Davao condo's?
The pool at the second condo actually got the sun from 10am onwards, although I'm not sure for how long as it was a cloudy week. I know what yr saying. I stayed at Mabolo Garden Flats and the pool only got the sun for 6 months of the year. They don't see sun on the pool as a matter of importance like we do. Yeah, heading to Davao next month to do a similar comparison. Which condo u at in Mactan now my friend?
You could probably get a place there for 18k a month, plus bills. You could find some condo owners on FB Marketplace or message Liezel, an agent who has condos at Mesaverde on 00639126636338.
I have learned in the Philippines to just book for one night initially and be prepared to book longer or head somewhere different the next night. Even the places with great location turn out to be shitholes with so many problems
I stayed at One Oasis for two days could not wait to get out of there very uncomfortable noisy. I moved to the Loop condos across the way and they were okay but nothing special but walkable to Limketkai Mall. CDO does not have the entertainment districts like say Iloilo with Smallville and all. CDO overall seems to be a boring city.
Too many guys dealing with roosters, jack hammers, grinders, and stray dogs just to smash a 20 y/o province clam. I guess I get it but I don’t think I could do it.
So you left a city to go to city in small hole that they rip you off hotel is cheaper ! Why would somebody rent so expensive house with contruction noise going and in city to breath car exaust ? I rent a house for 60 days 600$ had all 3 bedroom 3 floors 2 ac 2bathroom private parking and 15 min away from sea and 7 mins away from river.
Unfortunately they charging 2:402:40 too much with no sun. And a lot of noise. And WiFi is weak seems like the building they building will be better. Get what you pay for
What people would consider complete dumps you consider the best ? Hope you didn’t plan on bringing any females back to that condo they will run away fast
