Wow! So, Rare, had the incredibly tough anti-piracy measures, when they were the first to break Nintendo's own NES anti-piracy measures, to make their own games? They'd impressed Nintendo so much that they became one of the first 3rd party publishers for the NES.

If by some miracle you guys see this and could answer 2 things, you'd make my year. 1: What happened with the Pokemon Grey video that you had been working on, is that still happening? 2: Would you guys ever do more on the history and trivia of emulation over the years? This channel is so well produced and a total classic that I’m just consuming these on autopilot. No idea why I’ve never thought to comment on these before. Solid work. Would like to see more indie horror coverage though.
Since you asked… I like this channel. It’s a good mix of education and entertainment. That said, I often am focused on either entertainment (Scott the Woz, Outside Xtra, AVGN) or education (Gaming Historian, Summoning Salt, Karl Jobst). I also feel sometimes the video titles/subjects kind of blend together, to the point I’m not certain what I have/haven’t watched.
DYKG’s video about then launch of the N64 is fantastic, I always love re-living that era in gaming. Your content is always top-notch. Keep up the good work!
(pausing at about 0:45, so my apologies if this topic is covered better in the video): in my early days of emulating games, i was pretty convinced that one of Zelda:OoT's "pirated proofs" was in the Fishing Pond...of course, in a normal, legit game, you can go fishing for two prizes-- a Heart Piece as a child, and the Golden Scale as an adult...however, on the emulator i was playing on back then, it seemed like i could NEVER get the record-breaking fish to bite, let alone be successfully caught...but then again, considering how Little youd lose from the game (the Child's Heart Piece, as well as the Heart Piece from diving to the bottom of the Lakeside Lab with the Golden Scale), maybe it was just bad RNG...
I always appreciate your channel. It’s always fun to tune in and learn something new. Especially with this, I got an N64 over Christmas. So now I know what to watch for on preowned games!!
fishing is actually still not impossible if you can hook a fish for 2.5 secs im pretty sure in a speedrun optimal fishing will have a fish hooked for less than a sec
You asked for feedback, so here is one man's honest opinion. I really dig the deep dives into all the obscurity you go into. My main complaint is the obvious lean toward Nintendo. Gaming is such a wide and diverse landscape, but it seems like a disproportionate amount of your content focuses on Nintendo. Gotta stroke that algorithm I guess.
Well, I think it’s also because their Nintendo videos are usually the most watched. I remember Game Theory admitting that he makes Nintendo theories a lot because the fans just love those videos. Could be DYKG’s plan too.
Channel is awesome, and content is always a joy to watch. Only thing I could think of to make the videos better would be adding timestamps to skip intros and possibly ads, because sometimes I don't have too much free time but still wanna watch your vids, and skipping through intros is a tad annoying. Other than that, A+ all around!
Im pretty sure most advertisers dont allow timestamps for skipping. They have to inspect the video to make sure the product is shown in the way it was intended, therefore you couldnt put timestamps.
@GamingNubs With the way RUclips handles ads it would probably just play them each time you jump ahead. The bigger issue is getting people to watch the whole video for the engagement. RUclips tracts how many people watch the entire video and all that sorta stuff.
Been following the channel for years. Every time the notification for a new DYKG appears, i say simething like: "yes, now i have interesting game facts to hear while i clean the dishes" sbsbsnsnsn. My feedback is that this channel is amazing.
To answer the video question, I'm still enjoying this channel but I really miss when you made more videos talking about specific games. There's a lot of great ones with tons of trivia you haven't covered yet, like Tomb Raider: Legend, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Astral Chain, etc.
They could have just called this video "Rare's Anti-Piracy measurements", but then they wouldn't have been able to put Zelda onto the thumbnail, and I have the feeling that was really the only reason.
This channel is practically a modern internet institution by this point in my eyes... I honestly don't know what you could do to change or improve things for the better. Uh, maybe a few videos on board games based on video games and vice versa?
I doubt they'll see this comment but anywho, the channel overall is still at it's prime. Still learning more about my favourite games and many games I never heard of, knowing more trivia about old consoles. This channel is still bloody amazing.
I remember the things that occurred in Zelda. Back then I thought, crappy emulation was at fault. In order to handle the impassable bars, I left and reentered the scene, and then they would disappear. However by doing so, the timer would run out, so I used game genie codes to boost the time.

If by some miracle you guys see this and could answer 2 things, you'd make my year. 1: What happened with the Pokemon Grey video that you had been working on, is that still happening? 2: Would you guys ever do more on the history and trivia of emulation over the years? I really think that would make great content and videos about the emulators aren't covered very well.. Anyway, Awesome stuff guys, thanks for everything!
Honestly, I am enjoying myself. The only thing I would comment is that I enjoy the extras as much as I enjoy the regular videos.
This explains why i could never keep a save file on dk 64 neat
the contacts could also just need cleaning.
This channel is so well produced and a total classic that I’m just consuming these on autopilot. No idea why I’ve never thought to comment on these before. Solid work. Would like to see more indie horror coverage though.
Since you asked…
I like this channel.
My favorite thing is when the developers just love to mess with people when they try to pirate their games
Its really heartwarming to see that Polygon "journalists" are still getting jobs recording gameplay for DYKG.
Lets thabk our sponsor manscaped
The 60% of people watching this that are 14 or below : ohhhh interesting i cant do anything with this
DYKG cannot be replaced by any other youtube channel.
So Id say the channels doin just fine
Comfy videos.
I'm just glad we're past the days of 'Find word X, line Y, page Z in the manual to start!'
Golden Axe. Page five, lower left, turtle.
Burned into my brain forever.
I don't know if it tells you anything, but you're always the last channel I watch before bed.
It’s interesting because it’s anti piracy, but since it has such a unique turn on the games, it almost makes you want to pirate the game
Y'all are great. I love coming home from work and putting this on while I cook!
Ye I'd love to see more on the side of say Sony/Microsoft stuff or whatever
Well, I think it’s also because their Nintendo videos are usually the most watched. I remember Game Theory admitting that he makes Nintendo theories a lot because the fans just love those videos. Could be DYKG’s plan too.
@@angel-of-light-kelly1355 Hence my comment about stroking the algorithm.
@@ReaverPrime Not so much stroking the algorithm as much as stroking the audience
Good point! Might also be there childhood systems.
I love the channel. I love the random info. If the videos were 20 minds long, I would watch them with no issue.
I think the channel is good. I really like learning these weird facts and trivia about gaming history
@GamingNubs
With the way RUclips handles ads it would probably just play them each time you jump ahead.
The bigger issue is getting people to watch the whole video for the engagement. RUclips tracts how many people watch the entire video and all that sorta stuff.
Why pick such a lame weapon to be your profile? Might be cool after the buff tho…
@@7bracket7 i will steal your liver
I was hoping Zelda would have Ganondorf's face in the Sheik reveal at the end 😂
Early on an DYKG vid, cool.
Damn, Zelda just went Super-Saiyan.
Been following the channel for years. Every time the notification for a new DYKG appears, i say simething like: "yes, now i have interesting game facts to hear while i clean the dishes" sbsbsnsnsn. My feedback is that this channel is amazing.
smashing it gents. Would be great to see a did you know about piracy in general. First pirated games? Games from older consoles still to be cracked?
Channels been great! Didn’t know the puffy Zelda hair thing
I didn't know Ocarina ended in r. "ocariner" 10:19
To answer the video question, I'm still enjoying this channel but I really miss when you made more videos talking about specific games. There's a lot of great ones with tons of trivia you haven't covered yet, like Tomb Raider: Legend, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Astral Chain, etc.
I only pay for RUclips Premium so I don’t see ads, so thanks for putting the ad right in the video for me to skip!
I'd love to see you guys do a video on the Klonoa series.
As for feedback, I'll say this is one of my favorite channels to see during a slow work day... easy to pause but always entertaining and fun.
They could have just called this video "Rare's Anti-Piracy measurements", but then they wouldn't have been able to put Zelda onto the thumbnail, and I have the feeling that was really the only reason.
It’s great to find a channel that purely just gets to the facts.
It's so interesting to ponder the history of various rom files.
It would have been nice if you mentioned how the doctor 64 existed as a floppy based piracy device in the '90s for the Nintendo 64. But live and learn
I remember the things that occurred in Zelda. Back then I thought, crappy emulation was at fault. In order to handle the impassable bars, I left and reentered the scene, and then they would disappear. However by doing so, the timer would run out, so I used game genie codes to boost the time.
I love this episode . Started off with a great start banjo Tooie let alone piracy talk
I would love to see some more video essay content like you guys did about new grounds
Will always enjoy a DYKG video. Every single one is great.
Damn that ad was….well the way he applied that gel in his hand 🤣
Does F-Zero know their music is being used to sell ball-trimmers?
great content. really liking these short videos rather than the long ones. thank you for the hours of fantastic video game and console history.
Bango-tooie was my childhood lol
Hay...ScykohPlays footage of DK64! Havent seen that play through in a while..though Scykoh is one of my favorite youtubers to watch 👍
