I like hearing about your dogs and your training style. It’s always a lot of fun to find out how other dogs are trained. The b-roll footage is a nice touch.
Yeti’s Place yes, with the goose control job I worked very hard on recall training in the past. Skene has had a rough start with his knee surgery so he’s a bit behind. But his knee is mostly healed now and so no excuses for us now! I enjoy Yeti as well. He’s such a good looking boy. 🙂
My dog thinks his name is Cheese😂 Also, he used to have amazing recall, we’ve practiced every day for almost two years. BUT the other day he refused to come and ran through the neighbours yards AFTER our morning beach run AND away from his favourite dog I was letting him go to play with. He just left and was running around for about 5 minutes before he finally came home. I was so scared he was just running away from home! He came back but now I’m going to have to go back to long line training AGAIN! I kinda feel like he’s a teenager now who hates his parents 😮😢 I always thought we had a pretty good relationship but I guess I’m wrong 😑 So weird he left the other dog too. He loves playing with her.
I have an Aussie border collie too. OMG she’s almost 1. She’s amazing but so full of energy. They didn’t know her breed fully. Her mom was supposed to a corgi jack Russel. But there’s non of that in her DNA. It’s all Aussie, collie, and American Eskimo
i only use the name to get attention - i always follow up with a second word - like : Cherokee !come here! works very well because we use the name for everything and it wears it out. Also when you have esveral dogs it can be helpful to get the attention form the right dog :) I know some thinks it is a problem reg. sports - but In my obedience training and attending dog sports they are allready focused / i have their attention so i only need to use the word for what i want. Never been a problem :) . great channel subbed ;)
Thanks for the video, it's very useful to have quality non-macho training ressources like this. I was wondering, about recall under frustrating or stressful circumstances, whether it might work if I *acted* frustrated or scared sometimes during recall training and rewarded the recall even better if the dog obeys promptly. Then if I am really scared one day because my dog bolts to chase a bicycle or a kid on roller skates, she'll know from the shrill in my voice that she's in for a double treat if she comes back right away.
@@TheDogVlog I know, I'm trying to convince my husband to get one. Since we both lost our doggies a few years back and we're going to be updating our house, we're thinking in a year or two, but till then, I'll enjoy yours 🙂
I rescued a Border Collie back in Nov. His name is Max. He is terrified of men and loud noises. Here lately he has become reactive towards other dogs. He also doesnt want yo walk nicely. I dont know where to start.
There are some great courses through Absolute Dogs that talk about some of these issues. I will be posting my own videos with some training ideas, so stay tuned. Sometimes if the walks are too stressful you can start by doing something called "distraction, mark, treat" in your house or your backyard. I will try to post something on this soon. There are also lots of training games that you can do that can help build your dog's confidence. One thing to also remember is the less opportunity to rehearse the behaviours you don't want, the less they will repeat them and the same is true for the opposite; the more they are in positions where they react, the more they will tend to keep doing the same. I know it's not easy, but there is lots of hope for Max.
I don't understand your phrase, "not good driven", but if you have a specific question please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck with your training and thanks for watching.
Essala if you want to use food as a reward you can. You would start by using the food from your dog’s daily meal for training rather than offering a bowl.
Thank you! Super helpful 🐾💕
Thank you so much Eleanor!
I’ve never, ever wanted a job so badly as chasing geese with my dog. Lol. That sounds amazing!
It was fun to be an official wild goose chaser!

The Dog Vlog I would think Skene is super excited to learn. He’s been cooped up too long.
Yeti’s Place yes he is very keen to learn! And we have plenty to work on! 😄
Really helping my recall! Thank you!
So glad to hear this! Takes work but over time it really pays off. :)

Thanks for this awesome video! I have a (about)2 year old border/Aussie and it has helped me be more patient and successful with him😁

I use my dogs' names too as an attention word. Yes when you have a few dogs it definitely can help. :D
Omg I loveeee this channel. Currently training an 8mo Border Collie I adopted and these are so helpful!

Such great tips for recall‼
Thanks Suzy - you need a pup to practice with!! :)

Excellent ! Thank you
You are welcome!
Aeon has always came back to me. I have to squish down and gently call. To me.
He comes at full speed.
That's awesome. My border collie Sprite was the same and had great natural recall without a lot of training.

Reassurance, love and a calm attitude. Just keep trying and watch all of Janet’s videos. She is utterly brilliant.
HA I have the same silly sound :) PAPAPA
My Collie is not good driven therefore your exercise makes no sense..

The Dog Vlog I think they meant “Food driven” lol!😊
@Marshmallow Kitties Oh, that makes sense. lol And any dog can learn to be food driven - just depends on how exciting you make the food. :D
@@TheDogVlog my dog hates treats, and never wants to eat treats or food unless he is alone and its in a bowl.
