    We’re excited to share that in late November we’re releasing a new battery, named Enduro, for HERO10 and HERO9 cameras. Enduro will be available as a $24.99 spare battery upgrade and features revolutionary technology that dramatically improves your GoPro’s performance in cold temperatures (snow sports, for example) while also significantly extending recording times in moderate temperatures.
    At a battery temperature of 14F / -10C (note: this is the battery’s temperature, it can be even colder outside), with HERO10 Black the Enduro battery enables, on average, 56 minutes of 5.3K60 video, 50 minutes of 4K120 video, 76 minutes of 4K60 video and 115 minutes of 1080p30 video recording.
    Enduro also significantly increases video recording time in moderate temperatures. For example, with HERO10 Black during typical outdoor activities at a temperature of 77F / 25C, the Enduro battery enables, on average, 60 minutes of 5.3K60 video (a 28% improvement over the standard battery), 51 minutes of 4K120 video (a 40% improvement over the standard battery), 71 minutes of 4K60 video (a 13% improvement over the standard battery) and 120 minutes of 1080p30 video recording.
    And we’re also excited to announce that a new HERO10 firmware update is coming before the end of October. Thanks to customer feedback, we’ve learned many HERO10 users want the ability to record longer video clips in static situations without motion or airflow to cool the camera. Many have also had questions about how get the longest possible recording times while maximizing battery life.
    The new HERO10 firmware update will introduce three new “Video Performance Modes” to help maximize HERO10’s performance depending on your use case:
    1. Maximum Video Performance - Maximum video resolution and frame rates for the very best image quality and ultra slow-motion.
    2. Extended Battery - Optimal video resolutions and frame rates for maximizing recording times and extending battery life.
    3. Tripod / Stationary Video - Optimized for recording long video clips at the highest resolutions and frame rates when the camera is stationary without motion or airflow to cool the camera. GPS and HyperSmooth video stabilization are turned OFF in this mode.
    The following is what users can expect to achieve, on average, in Tripod / Stationary Video mode recording a single continuous clip at a temperature of 77F / 25C in static situations without movement or airflow to cool the camera:
    5.3K60 - 47% more runtime than previous for an average of 29 minute-long clips
    5.3K30 - 11% more runtime than previous for an average of 44 minute-long clips
    4K120 - 52% more runtime than previous for an average of 26 minute-long clips
    4K60 - 154% more runtime than previous for an average of 63 minute-long clips
    4K30 - 35% more runtime than previous for an average of 50 minute-long clips
    A future firmware update will enable even longer clip lengths in 5.3K30 and 4K30. And if important for your use case, 2.7K and 1080p will enable significantly longer single clip recording times in either Extended Battery or Maximum Video Performance modes.
    Stay tuned for more information on the November launch of the new Enduro battery and end of October release of the updated HERO10 firmware featuring the new Performance Video Modes. And please keep your feedback and requests coming - as you can see we’re excited to develop additional HERO10 performance enhancements based on your input!

      Guys, can you think about adding something so that we can start the gopro recording in 2 or 3 different setting types.. So like 3 different start buttons, A. B & C which can be set to any of the different setting configurations we have in our menu! It would just make life so much easier to switch between different setting types when we are out running or doing something else which makes scrolling through the screen really difficult and frustrating! If you put that and horizon levelling on more lenses than just linear Ill 100% buy the next one! Right now i have the 9 and the 10 really doesnt do the extra things that would make life easier when I'm running, extra resolution and better slow motion is fine but we need more than that to be truly progressing in my opinion! Having said that your action cameras are pretty awesome still, just I wish you could implement some more design improvements to make it easier to switch between different settings while in the middle of an action sport!

  • @EverythingIsPhotogenic

    The reliability on the Hero 10 alone makes it worth the upgrade to be sure. Touchscreen is a huge step up, less lag, less freezes/battery pulls due to the overloaded processor... it's what the 9 should have been all along. The low-light performance will always suck on these things lol. I do wish Hypersmooth behaved a little better in low-light (you really notice it at 30FPS), but these sensors are tiny so we can only ask so much. I am not sure they'll be able to pursue optical technologies without making these cameras larger... the jump to the 9 was already a decent lift in heft, but maybe they'll find some way to squeeze it in (I suspect the unit is pretty packed already which is why it is so hot). I really wish they would rival the functionality of the Insta360 with a new Max. The usability of the Insta360 is just phenomenal, but the quality and frame rates are really not the best. If GoPro could take their quality and just design the thing right.... well, take my money!
    Great review!

      @kofuzi  2 года назад +1

      I'm very curious to see what they can do with the Max, given this new G2 processor. if I can get GoPro max optics at 100 fps (even if at a lower resolution akin to Insta360), I'll switch in a heartbeat.

    I would really like something very simple added.. More than one button to start recording which, so 2 at least or even 3 or 4, all of which can be allocated to different settings, for example one button could be to start recording in the slow motion settings, another could be set to start recording in standard settings, another could be set to begin recording in slow wide slow motion.. It really does my head in that I have to keep going into the back of the camera when Im running if I want to switch between different setting types when all they need to do is add a couple of buttons!

    • @kofuzi

    Agree 100% regarding your comments on room for improvement. Not bashing as I really like the camera, but very disappointed in its stabilization in either running or even fast walking. I’ve been searching the tons and tons of RUclips people who actually RUN with the camera and there are not as many as I would have thought and now I know why. It’s not great except for the types of shots you have shown (very good by the way). Mostly slow mo. Although I’m hoping a longer selfie stick will help. Battery….the improvement of the new enduro battery is marginal. But I actually believe this will be improved before and better than the vertical stabilization needed for continuous running.

      Did you have anymore luck with the running footage? I filmed a XC race and ran along side some of the runners. The footage was kinda useless. Filming with Hero 9. Just glitched and glitched. Cautiously thinking a Hero 10 would be better, but not certain.

    Thanks for creating this and giving insight in how you shoot! 🙏🏻 Would love to hear even more how you using different settings. And when you choose Insta360 over gopro. And what you feel about the dji action 2 released next week - what would it take from it for you to pick it over the gopro? It seems lightweight but might also be constraining with all that modules - I guess we will see! Have a nice weekend!

    • @kofuzi

      I choose 360 when I want more creative flexibility, and that's typically when the scenery is more important than the product.
      I would never choose a 360 camera for vlogging, given the technology where it is now.
      I don't have the dji action 2, and I've never tried a dji action cam before. some say that their stabilization is better. maybe I will pick that one up.

    Thank you for another great review. I have been using the GoPro Hero 8 and 9 for over a year. I have experienced many software issues during long continuous recordings. The most vexing of these issues is after about 20 minutes of recording, while running, the horizon stabilization starts to fail and the image will bank excessively to one side. In minute 13:26, I saw some minor banking over the water in your video. There are countless other issues with the software that are not worth going into here.
    My long recordings tend to be about 1 to 1.5 hours. @kofuzi do you experience the same issues for long continuous recording?
    From watching many RUclips videos, it seems GoPros are primarily used for short recordings. But I wished I had a warning about long recordings before getting a GoPro for this purpose.

    The tough question (for me): should my next primary camera be a 360 (Insta X2) or or standard (Hero 8)? I have the Go2 and it's been very versatile but battery and storage are limited.. Your thoughts?
    Thanks for the breakdown. Not sure I "need" the 10 either way

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  2 года назад +1

      for you, I would recommend the one X2. it's a bit more precarious, but 360 footage from a bike is so much fun. and you'd still have a regular action cam with the Go2.
