My Bahamian friend told me that years ago when the big hurricane struck it destroyed their house, blew the roof off. His mother was missing. Days later the fishermen found her miles off shore clinging in the upturned roof.
Now, when a big storm comes, she becomes very quiet...and climbs up into the rafters.

... Today, Sept. 20th marks exactly 5 years Since Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico.
..... In Sept. 2017, They were first hit by Hurricane Irma, ... Many are unaware, that although the island suffered damage, they gathered themselves enough to bring in people from other islands that were more devastated, ... including NON U.S. islands.
These guests were housed at the Convention Center in San Juan .... Cruise Ships ferried them in ........ And they were provided shelter and food.
The people of Puerto Rico mobilized what little they had to help others even when they were hurt.
A week later, Hurricane Maria Hit, and thousands lost their lives AFTER THE STORM HAD PASSED.
TODAY, the American Citizens of Puerto Rico are again being tested ... HELP THEM.

@@NamelessVoice808 Sandy, Irene, Bob, Gloria and Blizzard Nemo was a winter hurricane with snow; I live on an island too. I helped oversee the cleanup of three major storms, and have attended classes on storm/emergency response hosted by FEMA/NYS and Dept. of Homeland Security. In one the NOAA people said the worst thing they every did was use the term "super storm" for Sandy as the media turned the hype up to 11. So yeah...I have seen a couple storms.

@@michaelbouker845 We are talking about tropical islands with limited resources and away from the US mainland. You can drive trucks close to the places you speak of after disasters. As island people we know very well, we don’t have the same recourses or help getting the clean up and rescues. To even get supplies into the island you need the airport runways cleared docks are usually not up and ready for awhile. So I’m sorry, but you’ll never truly understand what tropical island folks go through. We are different that when the US mainland gets a “winter storm”. You guys can always drive far from where the disaster zone and we must ride out the storm in place and hope we get help fast enough from our government.

Have we crossed the point of no return in terms of damaging the planet? There is no such point. We need to trust that our thought, which is our greatest quality, can change nature. We only need to understand the direction to which we should aim our thoughts. What should we think about? What condition or state should we aspire to and ask for?
In order to save our planet, we should think about positive human connections. That is, how can we, in our connections, keep nature safe? How can we all together protect our world? If we truly wish to better our planet, then we should see people holding a concern for how to positively connect everywhere that we look.
It has nothing to do with recycling or other activities that we commonly associate with as being sustainable. If we come closer to and consider each other, that we will reach an entirely organic, perfectly connected and round state, then the negative forces will disappear from the world.
We need to understand that if we start thinking better about each other, then the planet will recover from all harm, because our thoughts are the strongest force in nature. Likewise, our negative thoughts about each other are entirely to blame for damaging the planet. That is why the more we recycle and invest in energies and activities that we commonly think of as being sustainable, the worse our planet becomes. Nothing will work to benefit us until we reach a state where our attitude changes toward each other for the better to protect and improve our planet.
