- Five years after Hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico, now Hurricane Fiona is devastating the island once again. Some 1.4 million people are without power, bridges are washing away and the National Hurricane Center says some areas will see more than two feet of rain.
Gaby Acevedo reports live from the scene.

Normally when a bridge gets rebuilt, it should get re-engineered for a 200 yr flow event, not a flat replacement. 🤷♂️ Hoping all are safe. 🤞
Thats built with the same people that live in pr, if people in the states would send money or build they lifes in pr pr would be better, but since people move to the states they dont care to build pr to be better cause they have no reason to move back, why you think mexico has better engineering cause you have people sending millions back just in case they get deported they have business and homes to go back to

THAT bridge was not made very well to just float away like that . shoddy construction is rampant in the southern USA where the construction was done in puerto rico .
This was a provisional bridge. Still waiting for funds to build a permanent one.

It was a cat 1, which is still kinda safe to drive around if you aren’t in a flooded area. I went earlier to a freeway and just some downed trees and minor flooding, I was in a 6 wheeler pickup though.
