    Consider a set of Rugged Ridge hood latches, the name reminded me of them. It’s best piece of mind that you do, positive latches make great insurance. I run Steinjager limb riser cables is why I installed the latches, but after the first time of locking them down, it was a relief I can’t explain, no more worries about passing a semi on a two lane road relying on rubber. If you run any brushy tracks, consider their limb riser cables

      How is it holding up for you or how has it held up for you by chance? Looking into this or a bumper tire carrier but I like the idea of only having to replace a tailgate if I was rear-ended rather than having frame damage haha

    man I'm glad you showed that right there because I was getting ready to buy one and I've been looking at that one but there's another one I've been looking at and I think I like the one you bought better and I appreciate your channel you're not out here trying it up Run It Up and Down rocks and trying to prove how much you can tear it up like some of these people are doing with these Jeeps. Some people must have a lot of money to waste are there any insurance companies one I'm blue if I ever find out insurance companies are paying off on some of these Jeeps.

    Hi Darryl. Great video & shots of the Jeep. It’s been awhile since the install. What are your thoughts on the concerns you mentioned regarding the removal of the rubber pieces that press against the stock tire mount? Is the design solid or does the tire stick out too far thus putting excess weight on the tailgate? Thanks so much ✌️

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  4 года назад +2

      So far it's all good. Still solid, no rattles and seemingly no stress on the tailgate with the upgraded hinge. Still happy with it.

  • @blurglide
    @blurglide 3 года назад

    How has it held up after a couple of years? Does it stick out too far? Does it damage your tailgate when you do steep climbs?

    could you bolt the tire carrier under the hinge instead of applying the spacers?

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  4 года назад

      No, the hinge bolts flat to the tub and door and the carrier bolts over a flat area at the end of the hinge. Think they've done it this way to give the carrier the best rigidity possible.

  • @ryansremark6983
    @ryansremark6983 3 года назад

    Would you recommend the hinge component upgrade and leave the OEM wheel carrier?

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  3 года назад

      No they work together. Look at the Morryde hinge if you wish to use the OEM carrier

      For those of you wondering. It works on stock carrier and imo way more durable than being 4 inches out with HD carrier putting extra strain on your tailgate.

      AEV Pintlers in the TJ stud pattern. Unfortunately,r they now only make them to suit the later models.

    Hey Daryl, is your ride height legal with those tyres and lift kit? A stock TJ rides quite low... :/

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  4 года назад

      Depends on what state you are in. A 2" lift and 31-32" tyre won't even get you looked at as long as you have mudflaps on the rear and no poke on the tyres.

      @@jarrydreynolds6937 If you are going 35's with flat flares and a body lift. Yep target central. Mines insured with the mods, currently I don't feel it needs to be engineered at its just a tyre swap. However, it will going forward :)
