the entire S&M album is a literal masterpiece
It’s not.
It’s pretty damn good. But not a masterpiece.
S&M is possibly the greatest live album of all time.
fuck no, it's pretty shit... the arrangements are boring and mediocre as fuck... there's like one or two that came out decently.
@@seanwechsler6783 it's a masterpiece, I politely and respectfully disagree. Metallica classic songs reimagined with a full symphony
The best. This version of this song is just musical perfection. I love all of Metallica’s songs but this one is top of the charts. It seriously doesn’t get enough credit because it was on Load. This is James at his absolute best, add the orchestra and it’s magic.
Metallica is my favorite band by far but no song on this album could be considered “top of the charts” not even top 20
@@MBP208 you're crazy bro this is their best ballad by far and it's not even close, only for metalheads it's not good, all other people worship this masterpiece.
@@yazidknopfler8640 have you never heard fade to black? I’m not saying Bleeding Me is a bad song but I def wouldn’t put it in the top 20. That’s just my humble opinion
I grew up with Ride, Puppets and Justice and the last one taught me to play guitar and compose my own songs. It was also a gateway to progressive rock which became my favorite genre. But still I'd say Bleeding Me is perhaps the most powerful song they ever wrote. It's right there with Orion as one of their greatest masterpieces for me.
Outlaw Torn S&M is a must!
This is my second favorite track on SM1. My favorite is the Outlaw Torn which somehow has an even better wah solo
Where he hits the way to EXACTLY match the vocal melody here though is outstanding
That song is a banger on the S&M album.
the same here bro, outlaw torn and these are just perfection
Gotta love Metallica!!! 🖖❤
No you don’t. There is that other option as well. You can choose.
Modern Metallica not so much
Love it when Judson interupts with "great measures" everytime during the intro 🤣
I totally love, love, LOVE the S&M albums. But this song, I like the og best. It's always been a very special song to me, for the same reason James said, but I hadn't worded it quite right yet. He put it into words quite well. The more we GIVE, the more we will receive. The less we GIVE, the less we will receive. To him who has given nothing, nothing will be given. We only reap from seeds we've shown, the words that come out of our mouths. They vibrate into our surroundings and attract more of what they are. We'll never feel better until we believe and speak better. Push out those negatives. It's hard, but in time it's beyond worth it
Bleeding Me and The Outlaw Torn are the best from Load.
Indeed! Ive always thought they were in a higher league than the rest of the album. Great to see im not the only one hehe. Really dig the end part of outlaw torn.
@@Draugheim believe we, most people think alike :) It's she same with Fixxxer on Reload.
One of my favourite metallica songs still 🤘
Jasons bass sounds huge!!
I like bleeding me on the S&M album but the song that stands out to me on that album that I felt was well done was outlaw torn, when ever that album pops up that's the first song that comes to mind, so maybe give that one a whirl the next time you visit S&M. Just a thought.
No Leaf Clover and Outlaw Torn are probably the best songs on S&M
In all the years since Michael Kamen scored this and Metallica performed with the SF Symphony Orchestra, I never realized there were so many gratuitous shots of the viola section in the DVD. As something of a string player (and violist) I've always wanted a peak at the score. Kamen scored a butt-ton of films and you've likely heard him without knowing it: The orchestral scoring for the Highlander soundtrack, all the Die Hard movies, The Lethal Weapon movies, a number of Disney Movies, X-Men, and the Band of Brothers miniseries to name a few.
A number of people keep slagging off these albums but some great stuff came out of them . This song was one of those
This and Outlaw Torn are peak Metallica
For me, this is Metallica peak songwriting. One of my favorite tracks from the boys.
You gotta show him the Master of Puppets version S&M 1! And better yet bigger request, you might as well show him all of The Call of Ktulu S&M 1 and then the transition into Master of Puppets of S&M 1. That transition to MOP is super Epic!!! Like show it to him as a combo in one video! Loving your videos guys keep them coming! :)
Ecstasy of Gold into Ktulu into Puppets is probably my favourite concert video moment ever.
@@shmick6079 Exactly.
I think this solo is one of Kirk’s all times best!! Just my opinion!! 😊 🎸
I like this solo as much as anyone, but this cannot compare to the solo's for Hit the lights, Creeping Death, Blackened, One, Dyer's Eve, Fade to Black, Disposable Heroes, etc.
Would be amazing to hear Judson play “The way it is” by Bruce Hornsby on the piano!!
The slide is like the hangover
There's something so soothing about the sound of a real piano xx
I reccomend Metallica - The Outlaw Torn Live germany 2019! I think James was drinking again at that concert!
Always enjoy your videos.
Probably my favourite Metallica song. For reasons to me....the way I can relate to this and the emotion that wells in me, that I am able to bleed out myself on the guitar. Such a therapeutic song to listen to and play.
James' Devine purpose is clear. He is a masterful musician, lyrical wordsmith. He speaks a truth that is so universal to all of us that we all find a way to relate to and find our own perception and insight. Beautiful song
S&M 1 was the first Metallica record I bought, and also the first DVD I bought. I watched it all the time, concert and the documentary. It planted the seed to which grew me into the big Metallica fan that I am.
One of my first too. Came out at the perfect time for me, along with Garage Inc.
One of my favorite of Load and one of the most underestimated
“Can I pet that dog?”!!!! My wife yells this randomly!
Love the metallica! Can you do Dyers Eve
this channel is awesome
The Outlaw Torn is my favorite from this one. R.I.P. Mr. Kamen
The late great Michael Kamen conducting this...
S&M will live in my heart forever
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pink Floyd High Hopes has some amazing slide guitar
Ttheir band is pure rebellion!
and just now October Ends dropped a banger 🔥 You gotta react to it!
Forgot how good that was thank you xx
I love this song. It is a song talking about therapy, at least in my opinion. Metallica was quite bold in the 90s.
I wish you’d chosen the studio version off Load.
same
totally
Yep, absolutely would have rather seen this video done on the studio version
Agreed! The orchestra really doesnt add anything to the song, just unncessary background noise. If anything, i think it takes away from the riffs and melodies. It sounds more personal and emotional in the studio version.
The S&M version is great
Keep more Metallica coming!
Holy ballz, 1999, I'm old
80 is old
Thumbs up guys👍
Outlaw Torn from this show would be another good one.
Epica
Nightwish
Dream Theater
They all have played with an orchestra as well.
They did Orion at S&M 2
more about metallicaaa..
I love it when people that do not know too much about Metallica and listen to it without prejudice praise Lars' drumming. Can't wait to see next discussion about how badly he sucks. 😁
The Ben Harper section there was remarkably close to the intro to "After All These Years" by Silver Chair. I can imagine Judson getting a huge kick from how it's built on throughout the track 👍
Symphony backed: maybe check out Epica, with the song Design your Universe, from the retrospect concert.
I want to see the cats!
Or play my friend of misery last song on the black album it's pretty good starts out with a good base line
ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta
Kingdom (live) by Devin Townsend
He might like that. Very musical.
Edit: OH! Or the live video of King Diamond doing Welcome Home or Sleepless Nights. Even better!
Edit edit: Also the live versions of Luminol by Steven Wilson or any song off Operation: LIVEcrime by Queensryche. In The Presence of Enemies by Dream Theater off their Chaos In Motion live bluray is also quite musical, and goes all over the place.
I don’t think I saw anyone react to this music perfection, that song is my favourite from that album. Just so powerful. Maybe you should do , “halo on fire” , from S&M2 . I didn’t see no one react to it!!!
Great video! I'd recommend Versvs Christus by Behemoth
you should check Steve Vai performing "For The Love of God" live with the Holland Metropole Orchestra in 2005, featuring orchestration by Chris Opperman.
Please do
Outlaw Torn
Fixxxer
Ronnie
Turn the page
The god that failed
Ever listen to umphrey's mcgee? Zonkey is a earworm you should listen to.
Hey guys You really should check out Australian country singer songwriter Kasey Chambers do a cover of MnMs Lose Yourself! It will blow your minds!!
I'm dying to your reaction to Gamazda doing Metallica. She has 8 of Metallica alone and hundreds of other songs. Even if you don't make a video check out her channel for your own sake.
Always enjoy your guys videos, love the song Bleeding me and love the S&M show, but i think thie wasnt a great choice from this concert. Would love to see the reaction to From Whom the Bells toll
Nope. Minus Human. That song was made for the S&M show. Makes it extra better
Mountain Dulcimer slides
Did someone hear a little bit of danger - keep away from Slipknot when he was playing the piano?
Please react to Arch Enemy - nemesis (live)
Is this guy always drunk ? Lol no offense my man, he knows his stuff and knowledgeable but he kind of brings me back to happy hour trying to listen to a bar fly lol. Love your work, ❤
You promised me Iced Earth - dantes inferno. Still waiting ;)
Or Gary Moore - Empty Rooms live stocholm 87
It only took him 20 years from that interview in Playboy, to finally get sober. If you look at the footage from the current tour and Powertrip, he seems like he's finally happy. I'm very happy for him.
Shortly before he checked into rehab in 2019, a buddy got this track for karaoke. Druing the couple weeks it took me to prepare to give it a shot, James went back into treatment. When I finally started singing it, he was in rehab and on his way to his current health.
🤘🧙♂🤘
Please react Slayer-Dead Skin Mask👍🏼
Please react to Wonderful Slippery Thing and/or Fives by Guthrie Govan!
Outlaw torn please
Please please please do Master of Puppets and Outlaw Torn S&M1 version! I'm so curious to see Juds opinions regarding those two. 😊
you need to listen to some Oranssi Pazuzu, you will love that shit
That era of Metallica was all about the choruses. Not necessarily the best songs but great slap in the face choruses.
Totally, also Load has some of the better solos by Kirk
One of my favorite Metallica songs, and im one of those guys that more or less only listen to the first Five albums. This song has meant a lot to me in a personal way.
However, i dont think the orchestra adds anything of value to this song at all, its in the way of the riffs and melodies more than anything, in my opinion. It just adds unncessary background noise. Thr song isnt made with an orchestra, and it really shows.
I would really recommend him to watch Dimmu Borgir in spektrum, with kork, in norway. That orchestra really adds to the sound and songs, as they are a symphonic metal band, and the songs are made with orchestra in mind.
Next is DAMAGE INC.!!!!!!! It should be!!!!
What does Judson think of Robbie Kreigers slide playing in the Doors?
I hope y’all react and comment on the whole S&M album. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion.
As a teen i loved Metallicas first 3 albums... They were on heavy rotation deff... After the black album tho they lost me... But i think as a metal band they are worthy of the 👑 they have been given.. Lyrically they always give u something heavy to think about and musically something that rocks...🤘🍀
Metallica did it great. How did Dream Theater do? See Illumination Theory, Live From The Boston Opera House.
I don’t think Load and ReLoad were very radio friendly at all. They’re very niche. The black album was much more radio friendly.
Great reaction as always. I recommend Judson react to foreign band called Motanka, extremely unique and interesting folk metal band from Ukraine, they've got their own pretty much recognizable sound, check them out!
He should listen to Therion for a more symphonic sound
Load is criminally underrated. 90’s Metallica forever. 🤘🏻
Wtf does "underrated" even mean? So worn out
Hey Judson, you should check out some Igorrr. He mixes baroque, breakcore, black metal and other esoteric genres. Check out Cheval and ieuD, also the live performance of Tout Petit Moineau from Dour 2014 is insane from a vocalist angle.
Ben Harper is awesome with a J.
I think their performance of this song at Woodstock 99 is better than the S&M performance.
If you don’t like slide guitar it can only be because you’ve not listened to enough Allman Brothers
Amazing performance but OUTLAW TORN is by far the best!
Do some Yngwie Malmsteen… studio stuff off of Rising Force album. Actually, just do the whole of that album.
What is going thru jettsons mind with the S&M songs?
Can you play map change by every time I die
Kirk Wahmett was mixed pretty low.
next time i dont wanna be me or ride the lightning?
Outlaw torn....
I've never actually cared too much for the S&M stuff. There's a couple of songs where the symphony really compliments what the band is playing, but for the most part, the symphony just feels like it's playing something completely unrelated.
Lars drumming was the highlight...LOL
Was just thinking, wondering actually...is there any metallica I'd like that I haven't heard because, I stopped listening after the black album. Just couldn't do load and etc. I wont be getting the s&m album.
Thanks guys. Keep up the good work.
"No Leaf Clover" is a banger
My favorite song since Black is All Nightmare Long from Death Magnetic. It's a heavy-duty tune reminiscent of their early stuff.
Bleeding Me is Metallica s last incredible song.
Lars is genuinely one of the best writers/drummers ever. I dont care what anyone says
Can always tell a professional musician; they are always grabbing at their instrument when listening to other musicians. Either to verify they know the key or figuring out the melody. We’re all the same… 😂😂😂
Time to introduce this man to BABYMETAL! Just whatever you do, DO NOT start with "Gimme Chocolate". Literally any other song. 😅
Apart from those unnecessary fills...the song is banger
The watered down edition for the elevator and supermarket... sure... I mean... sure. They made it and had fun with it, but all of the dynamics from the original just drown out, and the real emotion and intent is out the window.... Get the real one from Load for the true impression.
I don't know why but I prefer the album version. Think the orchestra is a bit boring. This is my favorite song of Load
