Exploring the Worlds Most Isolated ABANDONED Toymakers House

- To get to Jaimie Mantzel’s home you’ll need your hiking shoes. He lives deep in the New England wilderness, beyond a grassy field, past a concrete tunnel, a pond and deep forest. Near the end of the journey, you hang on to a rope to hoist yourself up a steep hill. And there it is: a colony of hand-built structures clustered around a four-story-high geodesic dome.
Mantzel is an inventor, a recluse, and probably the internet’s most popular toymaker. The Giant Robot Project is his masterpiece - a massive, spider-like walking android he fashioned out of steel and aluminum.

What a waste of intelligence, and having the kids living like that.
How the hell did he get all the materials up that steep hill ??
Is he still alive by the way ?
Will do xx
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH BROOO!! AND THANKS FOR HITTING ME BACK!!! YOUR AWESOME!!! F.M.V.
Jaimie and his family are alive and well living in Panama. When he first got there in 2015 he built a houseboat and proceeded to buy multiple tropical islands. He's been building equally amazing stuff there ever since. His RUclips channel is 'Jaimie Mantzel' and Dashaina and his 4 kids are in heaven there. @@josephblomeister3040 THANKS BROOO!!!
This is the content that I subscribed to Josh more than 5 years ago. Exploring abandoned places! Don't get me wrong I love Beyond The Dark as well.
Me too!
Same, but that ever looming thought of "is this place fuckin haunted?" Is what makes beyond the dark necessary lol
I agree, I especially hate when the owners of these "haunted places" hype them up as some Halloween attraction. Like even if the ghosts did exist they're made into nothing but a commodity.
@@Ltwx21 nah bro, him and almost every other ghost hunting RUclipsr is better than ghost adventures. Nothing against them, it's just Josh is more natural and fun.
There are no places that are haunted thats a illusion you create yourself also if there was dont be scared of the death be scared of the living the death dont do harm the living will
This brings back memories. In 2004 we (hubby and self) emigrated from UK to the mountains of Catalunya. Hubby was killed in 2010 so I lived on my own for a further 5 years. Plumbed my own irrigation. Wired up solar panels, had inverter, batteries, generator. Fabulous lifestyle. Was self sufficient with hens and small goat herd. Amazing experience. This brought back wonderful memories, thanks Josh.
ok i'm only 6 minutes in but this so so wholesome, Josh you are so talented, going from investigating demons to making a heartwarming documentary about a man who just wants to live life without expectations. That whole intro sequence was so pure! Thanks for the fantastic content, I never know what to expect every week ahaha

The beyond the dark videos are awesome but I miss seeing the abandoned videos. I speak for many and we miss these videos and it's good to see another one!
I am only doing abandoned with good stories now. Idc if the abandoned place is full of stuff if there's no story behind it I don't care! I wanna bring story and history together to the places and for us all to see and understand
The world could benefit so much if there were more people like this guy. I had never heard of him before, I feel like this is a man society could really learn a thing or two from. Thanks Josh for exploring this place and I love that you included his actual home video footage. You're right up there with this guy!
I love the paranormal side but you seem so at home doing the abandoned ☺️ Love seeing you do what you enjoy! Another amazing video smashed 🙌🏽
I love both alot but I been doing abandoned/documentary stuff for like 8 years lol
I know! 😊 I’m 24 now and remember watching you in the hidden waterfalls of the Grand Canyon about 5/6 years ago 🙌🏽 Been watching from near enough the beginning!
its pretty cool you added beyond the dark is another outlet to always have abandoned videos as magical to make and not burn your hobbie out
What an amazing documentary Josh. I feel sad that the man left! Thanks for sharing watching from the UK 🇬🇧
I really wanted to switch it up! I love people's storys and why they do things etc this one was right up my alley and on brand haha

Don't feel sad he's moved on to bigger and better things in tropical Panama where he's built an even bigger Dome. Check him out on RUclips
Whats his name on youtube?
@@anneanne5550 Jamie Mantzel
I really wish people could just explore places & appreciate them without ruining them. Natural decay is understandable, but vandalizing places that once told stories really upsets me😔😒. Glad to learn of his story❤️.
This video is amazing you captured his story beautifully and respectfully! Much love Josh!
Thank you so much
@@ExploringWithJosh I agree with Matthew mayo, this was beautiful, also, I think the ladder leading to the room at the top was intended that way because then you could drop down and bounce on the trampoline for a fun way down
Don’t be disheartened Josh, this documentary is beautifully executed.
Edited well and truthfully could be on Netflix or other streaming services.
I’d personally love to see more, you let us visit his life or moments in it beautifully. His life 100% reminds me of Tom hanks in “Big”.
Some of the biggest, most successful movies weren’t responded to well on release and gained huge following.
You do you and the right people will show up man! 🤟Scott UK
That guy is a new found hero! What a great way to live life. Thanks for your work Josh, I really appreciate you being this story to us. I really enjoyed this video and your humble positive energy. You deserve every single follower and view you've earned. I hope you have a comfortable life, full of happiness as you deserve it. Happy trails and all the best from Scotland
Know I'm only half way through but anyone else getting a HUGE What Remains Of Edith Finch vibe from Jairmie? Spectacular it is the things he's done and major respect for him living life his way. Extremely well put together video, Josh thanks for documenting this.❤
So glad to see Jaimie getting more exposure on other channels and shows. Fans of both of you, talking about this during His live stream, brought me here.
Me too!
This is a great one Josh! Thanks for showing us this place and for telling the story in such a great way.
Hey Josh, thanks for posting this video and showing us his amazing place where he lived. Jaimie was a genius and an amazing person with an incredible mind.
'IS' still a genius!

One of the very best you've done in a while. I absolutely love the way you breathe life back into history, and with respect and dignity to the previous owners and the space itself. Phenomenal job Josh, this is the content I subbed to so long ago!! 🥰🥰
this is what makes josh one of the most amazing youtubers. all of his content is absolutely amazing but this sets Josh on an entirely different level then other people.
21:11 JOSH! You should have helped her up instead of passing her up silly lol
The abandoned stuff is my favorite but I understand the haunted stuff gets more views
I can’t watch the haunted stuff at all, so happy to see a normal vid
@@201_AW why not? Theyre amazing
I don't do paranormal anymore.
Watching this video made me realize how much I missed your abandoned. But honestly, the way you present your material... Abandoned or Beyond the Dark ... All of it is very pleasing and fun to watch.
Thanks alot
@@ExploringWithJosh Anytime! I'm an artist by hobby (drawing painting writing) and I get stuck at times. When I do it always helps to "go back to the basics". What I mean by that is going back to what started your passion in the first place, but keeping the new techniques you've learned with you. In any career we take, it can get mundane and it helps to force ourselves to shake it up a bit to refresh ourselves. Just keep at it. You're doing an awesome job!
It's just crazy how he took all that stuff up to that spot. His passion was intense.
I really enjoy this happier content all of your content is really nice but this happier content is what I look forward to.
Yeah theres been a LOT of "Haunted" stuff recently, which is cool but I miss this kind of stuff! Lol
Josh I’ve been watching you since I was in high school. I’ve been obsessed ever since. You’re one of my “comfort channels”. I’m so proud of how far you’ve come over the years! Thank you for making amazing content 🖤
As always, amazing documented from Josh himself. This is why Josh is my favorite explorer to watch on youtube ❤️🖤
New video from Josh, another amazing 42 minutes in my day ❤
Sunday’s nights (it’s 6:30 pm here) are the best! Love ending my day with an amazing video by josh before a crazy week of work ❤
This is the best video I could of picked to just watch/listen to while working on my diamond painting. I love it and I honestly would love to just have a house away from everything and everyone one day. It’s easier to live in town for the simple fact that gas is expensive in a way.. but I feel like even if I lived a bit deeper in the woods than anyone else.. I think it would be wonderful.
Nice little switch up with this abandoned exploration! Super cool place, and loved the little glimpses at Jamie’s life and personality ❤
What a beautiful place to experience!! Thank you for sharing his story Josh

There not done im just workin on more stuff is all I dont wanna be in the dark 24.7 haha
All understandable bro, cant wait til theyre back and youre one of the few youtubers who choose quality over quantity
Love this video, missed your investigations and explorations.
Beyond the dark is so fascinating but defo love exploring places through your videos 😍
Thank you so much josh, I’m gonna leave for Training at Fort Leonard Wood in a week, it’s nice to be able to watch one final video for the next few months
Good luck man. I was there in 1998!!! Basic training. Whatever you do, DONT DRINK MILK WHEN THEY SAY DRINK MILK. That means gas chamber is in your future. The milk makes you puke more and have more snot…

I love seeing the switch up. I never knew about Jaime. This was amazing to learn and well told. Keep doing what you’re doing Josh. You are an amazing person! ❤
Yesss finally another abandoned video 👌🏻👌🏻
Ikr it feels like it's been ages
I missed those too.
I love how you incorporated this man's history with his utube videos ....very well done Josh !!!!
Aloha Josh 🤙I been watching your videos for years. At least 7 years, maybe longer, and I've seen every single video. You are awesome and really got me into abandoned places. Thank you, Josh!
Heck ya !!
This is so amazing Josh! You are so much more than the average "exploration" channel on YT!! This documentary belongs on PBS or Travel Channel. I had never heard of this guy before, but now I'm gonna do some "exploring" of my own (online) to find out more about him. Thank you! I wonder why he left! It's sad to see it so run down, as you just know how much passion & love he put into it. But as it has now been sold, I hope it will be appreciated by the mew owners. Much love!

he should have gone into animatronics which is literally art and engineering combined
What a fascinating home and story. Thanks so much for the explore.
This is so amazing, this is one of the reasons why I love watching you videos, because all of different types of content you post , they are all different but so interesting. 👍
Thank you I deff try yo make every video different!
The passion and excitement you have through the whole video is so inspiring. Keep doing your abandoned stuff. If it does well or not, it is your passion and should not be downgraded by some numbers 👍🏻
What an incredible guy! Thanks for sharing his story Josh. Honesty this video was so well made. You're far from an average RUclipsr and more a TV producer at heart!
I absolutely love Jaimie’s personality from the video clips! You captured his story perfectly and with the upmost respect!
It’s such a shame people feel the need to destroy places like this (or any abandoned places in general). Very cool to see all of his hard work though with this homestead!
This guy lived life to the fullest! This is amazing Josh thank you so much for sharing this amazing story and epic house with us!
This is so good. Please find more stories like this to film. So well shot and interesting. Thank you ❤
love you Josh!! ive been watching you for a few years now whenever i have anxiety💙💙 thank you for all the comfort vibes you give💙
This is insane! What a brilliant gem, super smart guy, amazing inventions and the coolest home created playland / home!
This is what I’ve been waiting for. I do love you in the haunted ones. But this was fantastic, thank you! 💁🏼♀️
More to come!
29:32 I thought he was sharing a chalk drawing one of his kids did of Boba or Jango Fett at first 🤣
And will people ever quit vandalizing? Please!
I LOVED this video. It was something knew to the channel and I really respect the way you captured him in his world and his work. The robots just left on the trees were crazy. You did a great job Josh!
This is insane!!!!
Very good video Josh!
I just saw your story on insta a few minutes ago.. i think you should do more of this ones again... this is you you know. Beyond the dark is great and of course you have grown in there. You showed us so many things that changed our minds and you're perfect in it.
But you love abandoned and trying new things. Just let us be a part of the next journey. It will be great, i'm sure.
Always supporting you, love Sabi
More to come! ;]

Awesome adventure Josh thanks for taking us along this guy was an awesome man, brilliant work making things out of junkyard leftovers an having fun at the same time bravo .Much-loved from USA Illinois 🇺🇸 ♥️
Thank you for posting as much as you do Josh😊
"Level 99 Adventurer!" You Totally are Josh! This was cool and quite a testament to the quality of his work, that this many years everything looks sl good (minus the idiots who trashed it).
38:56 after that he is scared of the hornet 😂
Love the content! Thanks for all you do Josh! Documenting this stuff is so important and sharing with people before it's gone reminds me of the old school explorer crew days!
Josh: yeah we're in the goonies. Me: Goonies never say die 😂
Edward Scissor Hand vibes with abandoned toy maker 🥲 ✂️🎀
You and Seth are just so great they y'all vibe is just perfect
Man, I loved this! Reminded me of your early stuff, when I first found you on RUclips. Great content, and I appreciate you documenting this man’s life, as well as honoring his history.
Amazing work! It's so nice of you going there and showing his work to promote and preserve his history. I personaly didn't know him and now I admire his effort in building all that stuff and living the life he wished to live. Very inspiring
I've never felt so at home on anyone else's channel. 5th grade me would be drooling over this one. I missed these ones. but I'm still in love with all your content. Thank you.
wow yes tthank you ! that means alot
This makes me so sad that he left such amazing work and his life there behind, thank you for capturing what’s left of his creativity!
No no no! He moved from there to an small Caribbean island with his family and has continued to create awesome stuff there. Check out his RUclips channel "Jaimie Mantzel"
Above it all, the best part is Josh's drone shots. Your forte Josh.
Bar none. Interesting documentary.
I admire an artist or anyone that isn't afraid to do his own thing. That is artistic freedom. A very creative and innovative guy. Certainly had a lot of energy going on to create all these interesting things and houses.
Thanks Josh.
This is genuinely one of the most heartfelt amazing videos I've ever seen and i love it so much. Thank you more than anything for sharing this
This is the kind of amazing content that I subscribed for. Your ability to simply appreciate a place for what it is and its history is unparalleled.
This is the first video I've watched in awhile. Love the exploring videos!
The first building(15:15) was his well house that at one time had “THE BEST AND COLDEST SPRING WATER EVER!!!” He said he could even use it to keep the yogurt cold because it was freezing cold. Sad that it got all moldy and musty.
Always appreciate the content Josh keep at it
This was awesome Josh! I love this super unique places. I started as a fan of your exploring, love your ghost hunting videos, but you can just see the passion & love you have for these videos. This was so well done! Great job!
I was gritting my teeth as you guys jumped on the trampoline lol.
Your uploads are the highlight of my Sundays! ❤❤
Hey Josh, interesting vid. A few things:
• These are the type of vids that I find interesting and searched for when I found your channel when I first got on YT.
• If the guy wasn't being challenged enough or wanted to be around those who wanted to be creative, he should have gone to MIT.
• I have a cousin who got a partial scholarship to MIT. My dad helped pay for the remainder of his tuition. He then went into Army Intelligence, got out and became a contractor for them. My point being, there are other avenues for one's creativity just as this guy chose.
• There are a lot of people who have chosen to live off the grid and not be constrained by society.
• I've often daydreamed of being a hermit in my younger years.
Keep up the good work Josh. Keep thinking outside the box. Stay safe and be wise. 😇
So amazing to see what he created! What a clever man
Only a few minutes in and i love this guy already. Im a bit of an outsider myself and love to create and invent.
maybe one day he will come back to see what became of his work and it's sad that people are destroying this legacy of a man who has a brilliant mind
I also miss these videos from you Josh, now that Halloween season is over. Do more of these!
Thank you i really needed a good old peaceful nostalgic exploring with Josh video today. Captured this amazing place beautifully🙏🙏
Jamie is such a unique character! Thank you so much for sharing this! Ghost hunts are great, but THIS is the kind of videos I enjoy.
How awesome I really enjoyed watching this I’d never heard of this man thank you for showing this
