Thank you. You have managed to film The Residence in a way that others seemed not to capture in a realistic manner. You have also captured the quandry of many First Class travelers. "Eat freshly cooked to order food in the First Class Lounge or wait until onboard?" IME when you can order your meal at anytime in the flight and it is a cook to order lounge I do the lounge dining then order my meal on board in the last third of the flight especially if the second offering is breakfast and the time at the destination is not morning.
Personally, the residence seems a bit gratuitous. Most airlines that operate the 380 want to use then on flights between 6-10 hours as that’s optimum for fuel efficiency; the airlines in the Persian Gulf are based within this flying time for 1/3 of the world’s population putting them in a slightly better position competitively than carriers elsewhere. Saying this, Etihad will still operate longer flights but these obviously won’t be as frequent - needless to say, if I had $20,000 available, I’d fly on the residence regardless 😂
To be honest a plane like a G450 would cost you ~60k on this route (G650 would be like ~80k), and this experience seems to be better than that. You essentially get the Gulfstream experience for a lot less. I mean 3 of your own private rooms is better than a gulfstream to me, 3 rooms is cray! This is also WAY more efficient than going 100% private, those things are the real gas guzzlers for how many people they transport.
Etihad have changed the way they sell this product though as far as I understand. It used to have it's own set of fares, but then Etihad have now moved to it being more of a 'surprise & delight' thing they offer to certain passengers who have already bought a first class ticket for a particular service. They will then upgrade someone to the residence (probably based on FF status etc).

Interesting to see the difference between first on BAs 380. This is main cabin level. Business is upstairs. On my first flight on A380 with BA, as I wouldn't sleep, the steward gave me a sneaky tour of the whole plane! All the cubby holes (crew beds) and the secret spiral staircase at the back. I LOVED it. It's now my favourite plane since no more 747s, and as you mention, SO quiet. Great reviews as always 👍
Just stumbled upon your channel, its my favorite thing to do at the end of my day while im eating dinner and unwinding. Unlike a lot of these other travel channels who are just given free handouts to promote businesses it seems like your travel is curated almost exclusively on your own and you break down the cost which is the most important aspect of putting these trips into perspective. It's a real and down to earth take on travel and I have never gotten the sense that you would be completely lost without luxury amenities. I know that the channel generates income via sponsorships etc however it is good to know that it is recycled back into amazing content for all of us to enjoy and also become educated about! Thank you!

WOW!!! That was jaw-dropping. The TV and THAT BED!!! Oh now that is something to aim for when it comes to travelling on a long haul flight. Fantastic, thanks so much for showing me this incredible commercial flight option. The bed is the greatest possible luxury. And the ensuite shower, the food...it's overwhelming.
Living room, bathroom AND Bedroom on a plane just for yourself, its the stuff of dreams,... but for a 8 hour flight i think not necessary and i know its for the review and ofcourse thanks alot for that. The first ever "first class" video I saw on RUclips was Sam Chui's famous video of the Residence. Ever since then, I've been a fan of these kinds of videos, and it's great to see my favourite such creator, YOU, finally try this product.
As a previously frequent traveller in the apartments, I have always been jealous of the residence and you have now added to that. If only they would bring the A380 back to Australia so that the 14 hour flight can make it worthwhile.
Oh I am so happy the residence is back. I had booked it for a flight right before the pandemic so never got to go. Looks like I will have to plan that trip again!
You know we've seen Business Class seats more expensive than that, I'm impressed. Had my qualms with Etihad recently, but their hard product, crew and the livery are top tier 👌

OUTSTANDING! This is how one should travel in the air or on a train. I love this level of privacy. A couple would be able to be intimate without any fear of someone seeing ithem or maybe even hearing them. As far as I can tell, this is the first carrier offering this feature to couples. While Sinapore is close, I don't think the walls go to the ceiling. Right or wrong? On Singapore can couples be inimate without beening sean or maybe heard? Thank you for this wonderful video!

My gorgeous partner has a very strong opinion that he would rather spend more money/ time in our destination than he would on the flight and as such it’s pretty difficult to get him to fly economy on Qantas, Qatar, emerits or Etihad let alone any other class! A far cry from the flying of my youth on charter flights for the U.S. Military. 250 passengers crammed into a DC-8. My best flight ever was getting 3 coach seats all to myself on a Northwest Airlines flight from Frankfurt to Minneapolis. There were only about 50 of us on that DC-10 as there was a known "terrorist threat" against several U.S. airlines at the time and only being a year or two after the Pan Am bombing, the people were staying away. Amazing video, as is par for the course with your amazing productions. Keep up the great reviews. Are there any plans on a review for Star Lux Airlines? I have not watched any of the two or three video's that have popped up in my feed. Keep this disabled, middle aged man dreaming of winning the lottery and sampling a few of these products you have reviewed...

One question- it looks like the bed would fit two people; if a couple were to book the Apartment, is the fare doubled? I’m asking like as if I can afford it lol but just curious to know.
If I was ever going to book a flight as expensive and luxurious as that, I’d want make sure it was much longer than 8 hours. Maybe from Abu Dabi to Los Angeles or Sydney to London.
I have always wondered what happens when you are asleep in first class and your plane suddenly hits severe turbulence. Do they rush to send somebody in to wake you and get you into your seat? Do they have a cabin announcement over the intercom? Just curious.

I think you're right with the steak being part cooked- it's most likely due to avoid contamination, keep up with food safety standards and it can be a pretty efficient means for meal prep!

It's been on mine since 2014. And even though it's diluted a little since it was launched, hands down the best flight of my life :)
Even a cheap airplane is well over 10x's the cost of this flight. Aviation can get very expensive it just depends how you want to use it.

The cost is actually not that bad for a luxury first class suite. This is my favorite suite you've done! Question can 2 people book 1 of these suites?

If memory serves from flying Etihad before the pandemic, I'm sure it was ONLY offered on the London flight. Although, they may have changed now.

I think you're right with the steak being part cooked- it's most likely due to avoid contamination, keep up with food safety standards and it can be a pretty efficient means for meal prep!
