What a pleasant surprise! I didn't expect to meet Mr. Southerner again! It's also great to have the Carapace Spear and the Demolisher back! Thank you for sharing your learning journey; it's incredible to see your rapid progress. You've already mastered the parry timing for most of the critters! Sidestepping warriors (3:48:45) appears to be a viable alternative to trying to parry them. I don't see Frostner's special attack against warriors as cheesy, and neither should you. Utilizing knockback to your advantage is a perfectly valid strategy. Some fun timestamps: 1:25:10 “ok we are gonna get fancy” Nope 🤣 3:12:55 “we are NOT fire resistant…. that didn’t hurt that bad!” Proceeds to burn to death. 🤣 Likely a bug, but your commentary was pure gold! 6k! Hooray!
Great video Thread, it’s given me a much better feel for what to expect since the newer patches dropped (after the initial shock and carnage of the day 1 testing), I’m now only scared senseless about entering the Ashlands 👍👍😂😂
To watch you do essentially the same run twice with a different knowledge base was really interesting and enlightening. It was almost like another step into your thinking process to see how you took the knowledge you gained from your blind LIVE run to walking in with a plan. Also - thank you for fixing your blast furnace. It was bothering me way more than it should have, lol. There’s a moment where the game just gripped me. Maybe it’s because you had just conquered a 3-minute onslaught of enemies not long before during an ash storm (2:40:45), but it’s followed by this calm moment where you’re standing on a rock and you can see your shadow on the ground as you pull back your bow. The music, ambience and beauty of this game just hit me really hard at that moment. 2:49:30 I love this game. I’ve learned so much from you and still do with every episode. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.

Hey Thread- how about using basalt bombs to get the metal that drops in lava....I mean, isn't that what they are for...to walk on the lava? Obviously you couldn't get encumbered but since the metal doesn't sink, get what you can, toss to shore and get the rest....just a thought. Also, saw someone using a catapult to mine the towers...could be fun and if portal stops the drop, fire a couple rounds and portal out then back, worth a shot maybe.

Excellent run.. Ive been using a hoe to get in from the fort outside, never thought of the ladder but much easier. tried the storm Speer but to much junk in ash for efficiency "for me at least", but the Thundering Axes yeah, just yeah and i did what you did seeing how it works in the plains. wiped entire village in just minutes.
I wonder if its a bug or working as intended for those dvergers to run into the lava? lol I'm glad you're revisiting the ashlands, its been fun watching you play!
Hey, what's the ideal speedrun inventory you would want to achieve before entering Ashlands? At least Frostner is quite pricey in speedrun context because you need to find Haldor to get Ymir flesh for it
Too early to say but there's almost certainly no magic involved and probably no silver at all. Magic food requires level 5 cauldron, which in turn requires cultivator, farming, silver, etc. Mist walker is comparatively easier and more reliable to get than frostner. Hunter bow is 20 metal and my bow skill never gets good, would go crossbow first for like 8 iron, which is doable because often you'll be out in the world with 10 iron to make a blast furnace on the road but after you cook 5 black metal you only need 2 for stone cutter so could pretty easily make a crossbow since normally in that situation you'd just throw 8 on the ground
Carapace helmet is kinda easy, little tough if you also want spear (4 mandible) 1 more Carapace piece sounds nice but would might be tough. Prolly go root vest even though it's flammable because armor number gonna be super low and would help prevent getting deleted by archers
Why have they made it so you so easily can just dig into the fortress treasure? Isnt the whole purpose to bring a battering ram? I mean it seems cool if there is multiple ways to get in but just dig seems way too cheap, or am I wrong?
