Hey there, My families cabin is just around the corner from Lucky Creek. Been going there for over twenty five years now and the fishing, crabbing, and pawning are pretty good all around Barkley Sound. Lot’s of whales, seals and bears to be seen all the time. Next time check out the float house community up Canoe Passage real tricky getting up there so a small rubber boat is just the ticket.Enjoy watching your videos B.C. is a wild and beautiful place to explore by land or sea.
Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭 and Happy Sunday all ❤ Nice to see that Captain Shawn is a normal person and can get confused 😊 I always enjoy when he explains technical things onboard as he makes it simple to understand for a larger audience. Happy cruising Freedom Crew! See U in the next video 🎉
Thanks for sharing your travels. Thru your camera lens all of us get to experience almost firsthand your amazing experiences that very few of us would ever get to see. Great work, so enjoyable.
Shawn, You may be able to prevent gray and blank tank issues by using a tank cleaning product called Happy Camper. HC is a blend of all-natural bacteria and enzymes used to eliminate waste buildup in plumbing, We have used the product for several years to keep the tanks clean in our RV.
Nothing like Sunday lunch and some new content from one of my favourite YT channels. Amazing filming, great narration, and two lovely pooches, not sure my two would be very happy or as well behaved as yours on a boat. :) Thank you both again, Best wishes from Wales, Uk.
Thanks for the great effort and sharing your experiences. Rains start this week so you just snuck everything in. If I see you go by on your way home, I will wave to you in appreciation. Stay safe!
Wow! That was some magnificent scenery of the tall lush trees, crystal clear water, and all of the many waterfalls flowing down walls of granite. What a dingy trip that was! That was a big plate of chow that Shawn chowed down on after the trip.
Enjoy every segment! Keep it up! I appreciate the maintenance aspects of your videos...honest presentation of what's necessary in boating. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Captain Charles Barkley and his wife Frances Barkley were my fifth great grandparents. They fur traded at Sitka Sound, Nootka Sound, and Barkley Sound in 1787 and they also rediscovered the Strait of Juan de Fuca after Captain Cook said it did not exist. Their story is the book, The Remarkable World of Frances Barkley by Beth Hill and Cathy Converse. Boating the "Graveyard of the Pacific" can be dangerous. Thank you for the fun video of your trip to Barkley Sound. It is a great place to paddle, too. Linda Richards, BDSc, Victoria, BC
Wonderful video as usual. Great scenery, photography, editing. Sean’s chicken looked wonderful. Nice how you show little maintenance episodes. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely an EPIC journey. For many years I've wanted to rent a trawler and cruise up there, and now thanks to RUclips and YOU GUYS I've finally done it (sort of). WOOHOO!
One of my favorite parts of your show (besides Martha and Sully) is the arial vids, STUNNING to say the least. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures!
Another great video of an area I know well. We used to do a lot of diving in Barkley sound and the Broken Group. It's the only place we encountered blue sharks while diving. Thanks for the fun trip up to the end of Pipestem. We dove in there but not that far up.
Vancouver island is just amazing besides the ocean the lakes ,rivers , mountains and cities and little towns , Vancouver island is the largest island on the west coast of North and South America
Your videos are so entertaining and informative ❤!!! I love to listen to you describe an area! I love boating for all these reasons! Wonderful endorsement for Nordhavn too! Any more thoughts on moving up to a larger N?
those Elizabeth "sighs" LOL... If there was a second camera, would we see Elizabeth "eye rolls?" I know that the baot work is important, but Shaun seems to really really enjoy it.
If you are looking for content, I would love to see a video of how you get those great drone shots without us ever seeing either one of you actually piloting the drone or even carrying it around with you. There isn’t a camera crew that follows you around is there?
What’s with crazy Seattle boaters. Between onboard lifestyles and you guys scrubbing the grey tank.. pour 2 gallons of white vinegar in there and take a trip. Does the same thing. As far as Bear watching I prefer capital hill. 😊😊
If you don’t have a Nordhaven take the Margaret Rose out of Port Albierni for a terrific 7 hour cruise down and up Barkley Sound. Kayak Camp the Broken Islands Group.
I live in bear country, Lake Tahoe, CA, and yes, they climb up trees amazingly fast. Most of them live up there. Where I live, there are at least two families of bears living up in the trees. We leave them alone, they leave us alone. But these bears are used to seeing us. I would not trust bears up there to be as friendly as these are. They are more afraid of you, but still there are mother bears and her cubs out. The cubs may try to play with you but keep a great distance from them. I see so many people (tourists) up here do stupid things with the bears. Usually, a local will yell at the tourists to stop, and get away, but you would be surprised at how many people ignore good advice and end up getting hurt and the bear ending up being put down all because someone wants to feed the bears. Use caution, and worry more about the cats than the bears.
Hey Yall ! New Subs watching from S.C. ! We recently purchased a 44 ft. Trawler and are going to soon start living our dream ! We want be full time but are excited to spend some quality time on the Water together !! We have a ton of questions but that being said we would like to know about the watermaker you were showing! Does it do Saltwater or just Freshwater?? And what brand it it ?? Thanks for all the fun adventures we've watched so far ! From Cherri and Jerry Propst Fort Mill ,SC our Boat is docked at Safe Harbour Marina in Southport,NC
When you make long trips in your tender to remote places I wonder about your backup plan for engine failure, e.g. how long to row back, what if wind and waves are worse, what if your clothes get wet, or need to spend the night, did you tell anyone where you are going, do you take a sat phone, etc.
This crossed my mind too. Seems like you’re some distance from Freedom while exploring Lucky Creek. In the event of engine or dingy issues, how would you get back? I’m sure that you have planned for contingencies. Just curious what your backup plans would be.
Hi Shawn and Elizabeth! Do you guys do paid consulting? I can’t find how to reach you? The contact link on your website doesn’t work. We are shifting to a live-aboard life in the Puget Sound in the next 3-6 mos. Thanks!
100% I have lived on Vancouver Island for 50 years and have yet to see a cougar in all my travels, they are nocturnal, and they likely have seen you but you won't see them - now if you live in Port Alice, that is another story.

Another wonderful Sunday with Freedom and crew :)
This was an epic adventure. Barkley Sound is a diamond in the rough.
It's not a diamond in the rough, you can't improve it. It is a diamond
You folks sure have some beautiful views from your back porch.
I appreciate the commentary and being able to see places that I may never get to physically on my own.

I've seen people who love their boats but Sean REALLY loves his boat. He treats her well

This is why they call it super natural BC.Excellent photography work as usual.
Good morning from Florida! Enjoying your content. I’m traveling vicariously through your videos! Fair winds and following seas explorers!
Thank you guys for Barkley...

Thank you for some more wonderful footage 😊 of Vancouver Island. Looks like Shawn is a great cook.
He’s becoming quite an amazing cook!

Great episode, bet to you both!
Loved the "Tommy Boy" reference.
🐶🐾 you took their blankies! 😂
Love your adventures. I’m from S. FLA. Loved going anywhere on our 341 Meridian. Enjoy both of your personalities and input on this channel.
One of your best shows. 👍🏻👍🏻
Good one
Definitely an EPIC journey. For many years I've wanted to rent a trawler and cruise up there, and now thanks to RUclips and YOU GUYS I've finally done it (sort of). WOOHOO!
Really enjoyed learning about the water maker. Please continue to go into details about those small things. Thanks!🔨
Love your sense of humor.
Drone footage was excellent, As always awesome!!
Bears visit our garbage can often here in Sooke {Southern Vancouver Island!
Lions and tigers and bears...oh my!
Look smarter if they would leave those comments out.
I dare these two to make an episode where the woman eats a whole steak that her husband bbq’s for her.
You can go up Pipestem Inlet on the north side of Barkley sound and pick oysters off the cliff walls at low tide, for next time!
Good to know for our next visit!
One of my favorite parts of your show (besides Martha and Sully) is the arial vids, STUNNING to say the least. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures!

Vancouver island is just amazing besides the ocean the lakes ,rivers , mountains and cities and little towns , Vancouver island is the largest island on the west coast of North and South America

Next time consider checking out the floating cabins through Julia Passage. Cool little spot! 🛥️
those Elizabeth "sighs" LOL...
If there was a second camera, would we see Elizabeth "eye rolls?"
I know that the baot work is important, but Shaun seems to really really enjoy it.
Marine Engineering is a fine vocation you are lucky to have one so capable and generally not grumpy
Yeah, I'd write black tank and grey tank in magic marker on those lids so that mistake doesn't happen again!
If you are looking for content, I would love to see a video of how you get those great drone shots without us ever seeing either one of you actually piloting the drone or even carrying it around with you. There isn’t a camera crew that follows you around is there?
I love you guys
Great Video guys! Do you have plans for a LIve Q&A anytime soon?
What’s with crazy Seattle boaters. Between onboard lifestyles and you guys scrubbing the grey tank.. pour 2 gallons of white vinegar in there and take a trip. Does the same thing. As far as Bear watching I prefer capital hill. 😊😊
Great swimming in the summer . LUCKY CREEK . my videos are from Barkley sound .
no videos of lucky creek was keeping it to ourselves.
Your videos are beautifully produced. How many NMs to circumnavigate Vancouver Island?
If you don’t have a Nordhaven take the Margaret Rose out of Port Albierni for a terrific 7 hour cruise down and up Barkley Sound. Kayak Camp the Broken Islands Group.

Australia has Drop Bears
It would be good yo see what the P.H level is.
Fun
Is that a Pacific NW thing that you have to store the greywater at anchorage?
Do you carry Bear Spray when you walk the trails.

Freedom for dinner ............I don't think so ....TRY the word SUPPER
What keeps you from just towing your infallible?
Am I correct in thinking this once belonged to John McVie which got me thinking Christeen may have been aboard one time
Love from Bharat 😊👍🙏🇮🇳

What do you do (your plan) if you can't get back to Freedom?
Take a marker and write which tank it is on top of the tank.
Pizza guy… 😂

It's a shame short faced bears are extinct. Their larger size would make them easier to spot.
Cook some beef, bears love a little
Drop Bears
Just wondering, do you have anything in your boat worth more than your door? I never lock mine.....anymore.
You are more likely to get in a car accident in Seattle then attacked by a bear or cougar
100% I have lived on Vancouver Island for 50 years and have yet to see a cougar in all my travels, they are nocturnal, and they likely have seen you but you won't see them - now if you live in Port Alice, that is another story.
“Housekeeping” was kinda distasteful. Otherwise love y’all’s videos
