So we really gonna just disrespect wayne like this ? It will really depend on who is the crowd thats judging. The younger crowd will rock with wayne because they don't hold jay in that same regard.
Or people from the South…. Wayne is our Jay
Yes we are
WAYNE HAVE THE OLDER CROWD TOO WAYNE LIKE 37 38 BRO WAYNE CATALOG GO BACK 96 TOO
The younger crowd went with Dipset too at first
Wayne would rock with Jay his damn self. Nuff said drop mic. Close thread.
Ice was right on the Wayne take. No way y’all leave him out the conversation
Exactly
Yes way…….
I'm leaving him out
@@cfgodwell impossible
Leave him out wayne anit it
Eminem, NAS, Busta Rhymes, Kanye West, Ice Cube, would all be great verzuz for Jay-Z.
They didn't mention Eminem. That's disrespect
Or nas
Joe said I’m not gonna argue and spend an hour arguing. Lol. Great show
Ice is 100% correct Wayne would make it interesting for the 18-35 demo. Honestly when they said universally PSA over a Millie is the perfect example of the generation gap. Great convo guys.
Honestly psa is the better song but amillie is more popular
@@bundydachosen1 nah Millie better
@@bundydachosen1 PSA is incredible especially in the context of the Black Album. As a stand alone song though , idk I’ll take the relentless energy Wayne is bringing with a Millie.
@@bundydachosen1 I’m interested in the conversation , admittedly I may be coming with a southern bias 😂😂
Kanye would cook hov in that demo
For yall to underestimate Wayne is disrespectful.. I'm from Ohio, I grew up on Hov, and Wayne. Mixtape era Wayne is unbeatable period. Da drought 3, Dedication 2, 3, and 4. No Ceilings, that era is Wayne's. And no one was seeing him period. Not to mention The Carter 2 and 3. Hov said himself, when he heard Wayne's remix to Beyonces Upgrade You. It made Hov reconsider rapping. That in itself says a lot. Wayne wasn't just killing shit in the south. Everywhere you went, you heard Wayne from 07 to 2011. Idk if we will ever see another run like Wayne had. His creativity, metaphors his work ethic, his abstract bars. Fuck outta here with that ish.
Hands down best comment on here. People have amnesia
Preach 💯
I was early on Wayne and off of him early too. He made too much music and as a consequence he made a lot of bad music too. The Dedication was Wayne at his peak. Most people think Lollipop Wayne was his best. And if they’re right, Jay will dominate Wayne mercilessly.
To add to my original comment, im 30 years old. So I was in my teenage years when Wayne had his run. I'm aware that Wayne had his influence on me, because of my age. And because like all things, nostalgia plays a big part. But I did my Hip Hop research before Wayne was making mixtapes. I was listening to the Blueprint 2. Before I heard Dedication 2. In my opinion music will always be, what you resonated with more at the time it was poppin. For me at ages 14-20 Wayne was at his best. But bar for bar, song for song, artists you've signed etc. Wayne will go down as the greatest in my opinion! Look at the artists we have today. 90% of them will attribute Wayne to being an influence.
@@seanlarry6095 Wtf are you talking about? What's off of him early mean? What year? What era? What mixtape? What album? When did you decide to stop listening? His music has always been dope, his problem is.. He cant top his old shit, bc he was at a different place personally, musically and creatively.
Soon as HOV opens with PSA it’s over😂😂😂
For me it's only Busta, Kanye, or Wayne that could potentially beat Jay in a verzuz...and in context, ONLY on a verzuz type platform... But as far as bars and skill for skill level there's many that can beat Jay
To think Wayne cant compete with Hov is hilarious. I think some of yall forgot Wayne been having hits since '98
And hov has a classic that came out in 96. Time doesn't decide
His camp had hits at n 98 not Wayne. He ain’t really start getting it popping till 04 with the Carter. His albums before that didn’t have anyone thinking he’d be one of the GOATs, which he is but not comparable to HOV
@@iammarioareyes wasn’t the hot boyz before the carter my g.? If this verzuz ever happened, it’s the Lox all over again.. Jay Z ain’t the debate, it’s the amnesia you Niggas got when it comes to Wayne my boy.
Wayne did not have a hit in 1998. Gtfoh
98? You a couple years too late
Respect to Ice for standing his ground. The Bias is definitely showing on this episode
Wayne and jay are a good match up they have to do 50 songs
Facts. I fux with Ice ever since he been on the show. He ain’t scared to say his opinion and I respect that.
It’s not bias….it’s TRUTH!!!!!
Shut up
@@Trap323a if it’s 50 then jay wins but 20 gives room for Wayne to win
Jay Z stage presence and convo to the audience will put him over the top
Hell naw
My favorite episode. Just based off the conversation. Great points were brought up all around
Yep Yep
I say his best competition would be busta (solos, features, chart hits, etc)
Wayne is the most dangerous in a Verzuz. Wayne can beat people with freestyles and remixes alone. Then you got mixtapes, features, album hits, young money hits, and cash money hits
I dont like mixtape stuff in Verzuz, those songs are usually good because of the other person's beat. They're kind of like a cheat code for a hit.
@@jjack5118 for most people yes. But when Wayne takes your song, it becomes his. 😂 nobody is playing Mike Jones without playing Wayne’s version first
@@jjack5118
I agree
Jay is SMOKING Wayne.
Is it a boy or a girl?? 🤔
Bruh, I love Ice, but because of his Hov Hat, he didn't give a good enough argument for Wayne.
1. In the parameters of Verzuz, wayne got the hits, FEATURES [which were never mentioned in this debate] and freestyles.
2. Mack Maine and Tez wont let Wayne go into a verzuz unprepared.
3. Wayne is definitely in performance shape (so is Hov) so idk what Ice was talking about. He definitely wouldn't pull a dip set on stage. Give Wayne the time to go over his bars like he would for a tour concert n he'll be str8.
And by the by, Joe ain't listened to 2020-21 Wayne cuz he was still against Wayne's racism stance. Joe dont know bout that Comme Des Garcons freestyle 🔥 lol
100% bro.
@@QuintQuint18 Cannon freestyle…
Jay Z needs none of that just give him a mic and spin the wheel lol
Very disappointed they didn’t mention Wayne features. He was prolific on features for a good 5-7 stretch
Terrific conversation. All on the panel were strong... very strong.
The “A Milli” vs “PSA” crystallizes the whole argument. Hov would light him up.
Wayne was running through the west.. Wayne’s mixtape era was goated
Wayne wasn't running through no west. I'm one of his biggest fans from since his Hot Boys/Bling Bling era, and even I know he only really went mainstream after '06 and Lollipop.
Jay-Z been worldwide mainstream since '99, even his first album was classic before he really went mainstream in '99.
Joe and the other dude are smoking crack. Wayne’s mixtapes was so fire that he outdid peoples own tracks and made you think he made the original. Lol
@@ochomunna270 it doesn’t matter when he went mainstream once he blew up he took over. Period. Wayne’s shit was all over the radio and we not even talking the hot boys era and shit. His joints with drake , etc jay z actually don’t stand a chance vs Wayne In a verzus
@@MambaMentality617 you said Wayne was running through the West like he compares to Hov. Wayne's peak was '06-'09 dawg, his artistic peak of having hits and never been the same after that.
How was he running through the West when he was mostly know in the South until those three years and not much since? And in comparison to Jay-Z?
You guys got to learn to make an objective argument. Lil Wayne is not close to Jay-Z in anyway, are you sure that you listened to Jay-Z Grammy freestyle for example? The meaningful bars and lyrics is different to a rapper constantly ranting ''hip-hop is my supermarket, shopping cart full of fake hip-hop artistes''.
It sounds cool and all that, but has no meaningful undertone or contents. Jay-Z is a professor in the rap game, he drops knowledge that makes you go ''damn''. Even Lil Wayne would not put himself in Hov stratosphere, it's always the fans doing this sh*t
I bought The drought 3 in New York from a bootlegger like in 2007, everybody was bumping it, lying talking bout Wayne didn’t get no play up north, I’m from Baltimore, everybody love Wayne
I'm with Ice. We've seen it happen. lol All it takes is one less than amazing joint and the momentum can shift!
All is takes is a Jadakiss-type performance...
ICE standing his ground I love it. Jay-Z is my favorite rapper of all time but on a verses idk if he can stand. My mother is a 55 year old Mexican woman and she was impressed when she heard Wayne Mrs.Officer she was shook with his funny clever lyrics
Wayne has 14 albums and 29 mixtapes and the "God" wanted to sign Wayne east coast bias as usual🤷🏿♂️
Facts!!! Jay my favorite of all time but he will lose to Wayne
wanting to sign someone that would make you some money means something now lol
Having 14 albums and 29 mixtapes don’t help in a versuz. Cause you ONLY get 20 songs. And then mixtape songs are not gonna hit in a stadium crowd against hoves hits.
Hov is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. STOP IT
Yeah the from the east coast
Wayne needs two things to beat Jay.. a dj who truly knows his music & a new stylist
He gotta bring Mannie out for the Verzuz it’s a must.
Exactly if he brings Mannie Fresh its ova
I truly think if it’s Wayne and jay on stage. They both wearing suits. Look at when they on a song or on stage and it’s planned they are both in suits. But Wayne definitely needs Mannie fresh or Dj Drama up there for sure
What is hay gonna play if wayne plays back dat azz up???? For a crowd????? This crowd adds a new feature they not taking into consideration. You gotta have them records that preform well for a crowd. Do jay really have more joints than wayne that would shake a building like wayne has??

I think that’s a diss and a compliment, but more so a compliment to Jay. Everybody knew they couldn’t even try, but with Wayne, everybody did, and then guess what happened? Wayne’s music slowly became irrelevant, cause the industry was flooded with wannabes. Then when you heard a wayne track it didn’t sound so different from everyone else. I agree with ice 100% if it comes off as debatable that would be a loss to Hov. He is supposed to clean up whoever he’s going against. At the end of the day, it depends on what records the person picks Jay-Z has an advantage but if someone like Wayne were to set the tone and pick the right records Wayne could beat him.
So we are trying to really compare someone who has been relevant for over 3 decades to someone who only became relevant for 1 decade and that was it. You're trying to pick and choose where Wayne could win hey I could pick and choose were Rakeem or Tupac or Biggie could win against Jay but if we are talking facts nobody has the discography that he has I get it Wayne was nice for a minute and we can say he had at least 10 years a good run with Carter 3 and 4 along with the Young Money but come on. Jay has people clamoring over his B-Sides for a concert. Wayne has hits but he doesn't have classics that Jay has. Jay has hits and classics. So… we’re just pretending Em doesn’t exist now? He spits the Renegade verse and the mood’ll change real quick.
Can you imagine if Jay chooses that song and brings out ‘Em for that one? Game over!
@@robertwoodard8030 I think Jay tries to forget that song.
@@navminhas412 So? Em still killed Jay on the beat. That's what we're talking about here. Without Em, it's just another Jay song, which Jay would probably prefer at this point.
@@navminhas412 bruh, the entirety of rap fandom agrees Em had the better bars. That’s all I’ve been saying. It’s still true, no matter what mental gymnastics you want to do.

1. Dead Presidents
2. Love the Dough

5. Hardknock Life
6. Can I Live
7. Money Ain’t a Thing (Brings JD out)
8. Anything
9. Fiesta Remix
10. H to the Izzo
11. Girls, Girls, Girls
12. 99 Problems
13. Crazy in Love (He burns the building down when Beyoncé pops out)
14. Roc Boys
15. Public Service Announcement
16. Run this Town (Brings Rihanna out to secure the body)
17. Niggaz in Paris (Brings Ye out to sweep up)
18. Big Pimpin (S/o to Pimp C for the nostalgia)
19. The Story of O.J.
20. Dirt Off Ya Shoulder (Because you gotta tune in to the Mf greatest) and I was being light when made this list
Everybody forgets in a versus your basically performing . Nobody gone move the crowd and spit his verse with that Hov energy . Just like jadakiss did
I think Kendrick and Kanye could definitely bring energy. Kendrick can rap his ass off live but his catalog ain’t deep enough yet though. Wayne got the catalog but his performance ain’t there anymore
Hov said that because in the Grammy family freestyle he said "my mind's on Pluto" at about 2 and a half mins in.
Edit: because of that bar and factoring in Hov's ability to deliver cleverly and make it even more specific makes it a guaranteed point against Future.
I love this kinda talk. The best debate they've had yet. All mics were strong.
Pause
Versus not being a force at all, but post-lollipop Wayne popularity wise is one of the most IMPROVED lyricists on the planet. Like he studied and improved his wordplay while others are just naturally talented. Underrated: Scarface and Ludacris.
It seem like they’re trying not to mention emeinem. And Wayne was def heavy up top in the early 2000’s
Wayne-Ye-Drake can go up against anybody including Jay. Y’all forget that versus is about hit records not who the better lyricist is.
Jada changed the rules a bit by adding freestyles in the equation. Same Kane vs KRS-One Verzuz, some say Kane won because of the freestyles.
Cam has way more hits and Jada cooked him live. Cut that shit out
Facts about that . Buy have 1 question. Y wasn't eminem not included into this. It was like they were afraid to say candyman. With the right pick jay can take a L against Wayne . But em should b I this convo.
@@liljigga215 Cam doesn't have hard hitting hits, Cam doesn't have a Can't Tell Me Nothing, Power, Stronger, Runaway, Dark Fantasy, Gorgeous in his catalog

Don’t discount the power of rebuttal: depending on your age bracket, a lot of Hov records are Wayne records too. Hov can do PSA, but Wayne smashed that record. Hov can do Dirt Off Ya Shoulder, Wayne smashed that. Moment of Clarity, Best of Me Remix, etc.! It really is a matter of the records that get chosen, as Wayne could be super formidable with rebuttals out his mixtape bag alone.
That Best of me remix with the Carolina word play!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
you forgot a few Upgrade with was fuego, and Renegade which Hov got bodied twice by both EM and Wayne
They danced around Em so hard! 😂😆
Why though?

Indeed he would. No question about it.

I feel like you really don’t know J catalog .. from the beginning to now… go listen to his whole catalog.
Only Nas verzuz jay would be great. No comp just a celebration of 2 of the greatest ever to put words in a bar and rhyme them sequentially
AGREED 💯
Nas don’t got the records jay z still has hits from recent years nas don’t 😂
Plenty of people can bring a debatable. I would make a stipulation were an artist has to go 40 tracks deep.
Everytime they say "Gets his boots smoked" I think "pause"
This is another age argument for y’all. Y’all were in the streets when HOV was coming up. HOV was dropping as y’all were growing up. Just like we aged with Drake, with Ye, with Wayne, with Future. AND Y’ALL ARE FROM NEW YORK. Y’all are super biased based on age and location. You can’t call people unimportant in this argument just because they’re younger. Don’t disrespect people’s perspectives.
They need somebody from the south to chime in cause they sound crazy to me.
I totally agree.
Bro I'm 38 and from NY and I know for a fact Wayne can run with him. Idk what Hov got on these niggas but they're on some groupie shit.
The disrespect for nas is out of order
They won't Bring him up because he beat hov already 😒👀😜😭😭😭😭
This topic is insane. Wayne vs Jay would be crazy. They both have HITS but Wayne DROUGHT era would MURDER
That’s why you want see neither Em or Jay going on Versus!

Wayne will say many things about Jay's top authority because Jay offered him his masters.
Nas will close him down but he was signed by Jay.
