So many memories of this song, She never looks back, Not enough hours in the night, Reno, State Fair (probably my favorite) ...I mean seriously, the list of amazing songs goes on and on. If that's really you in these posts Doug I hope you know how ridiculously talented you are and that your music is the soundtrack to SO many peoples lives man! I lived in Tucson, AZ when you really hit it big....12 years ago I moved to Texas, between San Antone and Austin and I swear the minute I got here, though I had never been to this amazing state, I felt home....here between the Red and Rio Grande! We put down roots and they run DEEP now and although I am not a Native Texan, I got here as soon as I could and I will live here until the day I die! I digress....thank you brother for your amazing music. I'd love to shake your hand someday if you are ever around San Antonio.

Me too even 20 years later it's excellent. I told a colleague tonight at work about this song who doesn't even like country music but I think if you can relate to heartache you'll get this song.
Country singer Neal McCoy also did a version of this same song .
That whole album is really great
This song gets my vote for the saddest country song ever. Although Mary Gauthier’s “Mercy Now” is very close, this song is crushing.

They don't play country music like this anymore because it's not inclusive, tolerant or accepting and holds to much towards traditional love (and heart breaks).
Now they play country music with lyrics like "she's a cowboy girl".
