I have one of these! I got a bunch of old cameras from my Grandmother and one of these was in there. I’ve run a couple of rolls through it, but I really struggle with this one. There’s not really any focus confirmation... all you get is one of two red dots... one next to the person and one next to the tree. Close and far, basically. There is no control over aperture or shutter, no exposure compensation... this camera forces you to surrender to it. I might see what I can get on Ebay for this one, I don’t see myself using it much.... especially not when the other cameras she gave me were a Miranda Sensorex and a Minolta X-700. Edit: I wanted to add that I really enjoyed the 38mm focal length on the HImatic. It felt very natural.
Hello! Just scored of this but the upgraded version which is the Hi-matic AF2 MD. I'm having issues with the self timer. The timer light illuminates but not beeping and gets stuck.
The rule of thumb is never touch the self-timer on old cameras as they might brick the camera if they don't work. You can try pushing on the lever in the direction it should go, but be careful. Just slight pressure.
0:05 It's not a rangefinder. There is no coupling between the viewfinder and the lens. It's just a tiny hole to look into. Like a disposable camera. An actual film rangefinder is manual focus only and uses a split image in the viewfinder to help grab manual focus, most famous are the Leica M series. I hear that mistake all the time with these point and shoot cameras.
You're right - I think the main reason why is because proper rangefinders are considered to be a hipster add-on, so everyone is trying to join the party! 😉
Canon AF35ML, Minolta Hi Matic AF2 or Leica Mini? I want something that has a good depth of field and the focus must be sharp! Which film camera should i get? Thank you!
I notice with out film in it when you pull the lever it's easy but when you have film in it. It feels different has tho it's slower when pulling the lever is that normal
Actually you're camera is fine, its the settings you have it on its not getting enough exposure when u move away from the light so it locks your shutter button
Is just did a review on this camera myself. It's my favorite. It goes everywhere with me.

You have to like the experience. Sounds like this one is good to go!
Mine was working fine, but now I’m experiencing the same issue with it hanging up. Were you able to figure out what the issue was?

You should make a beginner video on this camera!
Its the lever you have to have it completely pushed back
Just picked on of these up, when Autofocusing, how does it gauge the distance? Is it with the centre of the frame?
+Mark Anthony Fox Yep, there's a small circle in the center. That's the focus area.
You can check the batteries by turning on the flash...
Sweet. Just picked up another of these yesterday for $5.
@@kennethwajda Fantastic! I’m still learning how to use this little gem. Fun stuff.
@@brentbrown51 Yay! :-)

Right, because it's AF! Good catch.

The Minolta probably has the best build quality of these you mention.
For the money the Minolta is unbeatable - the lens is sweet and sharp and it hits exposure nearly Every time, including when using the flash.
hey there! did you ever find out the problem? was it just the batteries?
I don't remember. Think I gave it away.
is it okay if everytime i change the ISO, it doesn’t have any clicking sound when rotating it? Is it working do you think?
It's working I bet. Shoot it and see.
I notice with out film in it when you pull the lever it's easy but when you have film in it. It feels different has tho it's slower when pulling the lever is that normal
It should be the same, but if it's working, don't worry about it unless it falls off. Just shoot it.
i loaded film into this camera and its stuck on the first shot. the lever wont go back anymore. Any help?
Hit the rewind button, and slowly rewind the film until it pulls off the takeup spool. Then remove it and try it without film. And new batteries.
Hi- what’s the highest adjustable iso/asa?
400
What Ali said. And thanks, Ali!
I bought the Hi Matic AF and the shutter button doesn’t go up
Can you return it? Sounds like it's busted.
Actually you're camera is fine, its the settings you have it on its not getting enough exposure when u move away from the light so it locks your shutter button
Its a feature on youre camera that ill save you some shots
i wonder if the shutter still works even without the battery?
Maybe at a single speed, but it's an electronic shutter, so it needs a battery.
can I do long exposures with this camera? like a one second..
No
The camera has an exposure of almost 1/4 or 1/2 of second. Its enough with an 200 ISO. Good camera.
EV 6 (1/8 sec. at F/2.8) is the specification according to the manual. I agree it is a good camera. I enjoy mine when I take it out.
The lever doesn’t come back what should I do
Don't force it. Is it out of film and needs to be rewound? Otherwise it's probably broken and not worth fixing.
Kenneth Wajda it doesn’t have batteries or film in so is it ok
If no film, I doubt batteries matter to the advance. Probably busted.
People finding it for a buck and everything that I find is 70+ 🤦♂️😂
Keep looking. The buck camera makes the story. The $70 camera, never mentioned. They're both out there.
Mine was working fine, but now I’m experiencing the same issue with it hanging up. Were you able to figure out what the issue was?
