Im confused... see when doing nose.. i wonder how far the swab should go up? Some says dont have to go deeper some says go deeper angle straight or upward straight up? Which?

I don't understand why she only goes in a tiny amount in the nostril with the swab? When you look at videos online of people giving these tests, it looks brutal like they are pushing the thing up into their brain! And I spoke too a friend who had a test at the hospital who said it was excruciating! I hope when I get a test its like it's done in THIS video!!

That is because it is a self test. If you have a health care professional perform the test it will be a deep nasopharyngeal swab because they need to be trained to perform the deeper swab which will obtain a better sample. The swab should go back towards your ear following the nasal canal if done correctly and not upwards towards the top of the nose.

It’s surprising how far up the nostril the swab happily goes, even doing it yourself! I did mine at a local test centre last week and you do the whole thing yourself so don’t worry. I found the back of my throat felt sore for a while after due to where swab rubbed but no discomfort at the time.

@@ktpuss I actually had mine done a few days after my post funnily enough! Luckily, I did it myself whilst being watched by the girl at the test center. and I didn't have to push it especially far to please her. Certainly nothing close to some of the vids i've seen!! It seems that some tests required you to basically hit the back of your throat THROUGH YOUR NOSE, and some only require you to push it a few cm's! I don't intend to ever take the former one lol

Because it’s pushing the narrative, this is all fake. I had the test done the other day, the woman had no idea that I had to sanitise my hands, or how long I should swab my tonsils/nose for. It was a mess.

@@quirkynperky119 Hi, all three are right and accepted. Lateral Flow Testing with LFDS require samples to be taken from any of the three sources (Nasal, Nasopharyngeal to Oropharyngeal). Most self tests will simply require the Nasal test as it’s the easiest to administer yourself and by untrained personnel.

@dylans voice I called NHS I told them my nose is bleeding due to swab, it will stop then start but bleeds really bad, I have stuck womens small roll pads up nose to stop it bleeding. I had to keep that in for 20 min, everytime I take it out my nose starts dripping like a tap. NHS said its normal, I need to use the other nostril, keep swapping.
