  • This animation from i-Sense demonstrates how lateral flow tests can test for more diseases than just COVID-19, and are an easy way to get results fast.
Through the binding of antigens to antibodies on the test membrane, nanoparticles give a clear result in less than 30-minutes.
By coupling this with mobile technologies, data can be collected very quickly to combat disease outbreaks on a global scale.
i-Sense is an EPSRC-funded Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration working to develop tools and technologies to track, test, and treat infectious diseases. The project aims to build a new generation of digital sensing systems to identify and prevent outbreaks of infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance, much earlier than ever before. i-Sense’s mission strongly aligns with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Challenge Research Fund, working in partnership with end-users in low and middle-income countries, to build innovative digital technologies that meet their needs.
