What years were they manufactured? Tudor has been on a media blitz for the past 12 months showing off their manufacturing facility and how well they're quality controlled. I'm guessing it's because of issues like yours. They can't compete against Omega if they're putting out garbage, no matter how well they look.
I do not think that production facilities and QC are that closely linked in the case of Tudor. They are not really garbage, every brand (apart from Rolex IME) has issues. Tudor sorted one out and the AD another. I am sure they would swap the weird bezel, but my bad for never actioning that. In Short I am certainly not afraid of buying another if they release something that's great. Omega have their fair share of issues. My Planet Ocean bezel seized and rotated anti clockwise after two weeks of wearing. I cleaned it and it's fine now.
I have Pelagos LHD. Worn for 5 and half years in sea, under the car, doing woodwork, mowing, gets a good wash, keeps to the second and it has had zero problems, and mine is an early 2019 model
Damn! Nice collection!! I love Tudor. I currently don't own any but its next on my buy list. I want a blue Pelagos and maybe a Black Bay. Nicely done my friend. Btw, new sub here.
Thanks for the sub and it means a lot to know videos are enjoyed ; ) I have way too many Tudors lol, but can definitely recommend the Pelagos Blue for a medium wrist. The Pelagos 39 is stunning for a smaller wrist.
None that I have ever noticed. COSC Tudors are regulated to a better standard than COSC, so -2/+4 (as opposed to COSC which is -4/+6. I used to work in a Tudor AD and Tudors were always very good on the timegrapher. Most modern quality watches are now though. My Longines is gaining a fraction over a second per day over the last two months, but the only reason I know that is because I keep it on a watch Winder.
I'm guessing not all Steeldives are perfect, and a big reason for Swiss things costing more is the huge difference in what staff are paid. China is one of the lowest with possibly very poor working conditions, and Switzerland one of the highest with a very high quality of life for staff.
Thoughts on the bb Chrono? I have one in mind and I’m torn between it and the new formula 1 automatics. I’ve had the Tag on wrist last week, my only hang up with them is I’m not a fan of the 7750 pushers, the one I have gives a lot false starts requiring more than one activation. I love the feel of the column wheel pushers which is why I looked into the bb.
Hi, that's a a lot to unpack as they say. My first thought is that Tudor and Tag are very different brands. I love the Quartz Tag Chronos, but have zero experience of the automatics. Have you considered a quartz? Would you actually use the stopwatch? The pushers on the Tudor are very firm, so make sure you are happy with them. It's a modified Breitling movement, but that's a good thing IMO. It will have vertical clutch and a column wheel which are higher end things in a chronograph. I dislike the aluminium bezel and it's pretty chunky, but feels quality. I have a soft spot for tag, but feel they are poor value at list. Tudor are kind of at the other end of the value scale. If you prefer the design and F1 thing then go for it though. In the UK it's a very discountable watch. Hope that helps but let me know if you have any more questions.
OOOH, I just had a look at the Oracle Red Bull one. It's a lot of money for an ETA movement fashion type watch, but it looks pretty cool. I would pop a Tudor deployant clasp on it if it was the correct width 😈 It's just so different to a BB Chronograph.
I have had the first run of the BB58 and worn it playing pickup basketball with my son’s AAU team. Worn it snorkeling, body surfing, boogy boarding, hammering away at home repairs and never once have I had it do something weird like that. Now remember Rolex has had issues with their new movements. I too own Rolex but one from 05 and that is built like a tank like my 58. Had it serviced twice for regular service cycle.
I think all modern watches are generally very reliable, although Tudor do have some odd issues IME. That said I worked in a Tudor AD for a couple of years and did not see anything bad. I daily'd a Rolex for years (1990 something) on and off depending on job, and it was great. Eventually had it serviced after 20 years and rarely were it now though.
Hello bud, interesting video. I have two Tudors and luckily they have been bulletproof so far and have felt that the quality for what you pay for is great. I have A LOT of dive watches and feel that with my Blue Pelagos, my Rolex Deepsea and Blue Omega 300m Seammaster I have the Trinity of watches I actually wear. While my Deepsea is my daily driver the Pelagos is the watch I actually wear if I go diving or doing something where it might get bashed - it’s never missed a beat or let me down although the Titanium case and bracelet are quite scuffed 5 years on. Yes rhe Blue 42mm Pelagos isn’t at the same level of quality to the Deepsea, it was also 4 times cheaper…. So I feel it is a superb watch - looks stunning in Matt blue as well. Tudor do make nice watches but I guess your experiences with their QC is worrying and not what you should expect from a 4k watch
Hi Gavin, So annoyed I kept saying the pelagos was 41mm lol. As soon as I watched it back I realised what I had done. I used to sell Tudor so really should have known better lol. It is worrying, but doesn't really worry me at the same time if that makes sense. Love Tudor for the reasons you say. Have not been keen on the recent ones, but if they ever do a steel diver with a ceramic bezel, I will be very interested! I have never noticed any of these issues while working with them, so was either just unlucky or the AD I got them from was given the Friday Watches lol. I have only dived twice but loved it. I have taken the blue 42mm and a blue FXD paddling in Pelagos Bay in Greece though haha.
Maybe there’s a reason all the Tudors you mentioned in the video, had such high discounts. I do worry about the movements though. Read a lot of stories online about the movements just stopping all of a sudden. Or losing like 30 to 40 seconds per day, after only a year or 2 of daily wear. What horror stories have you heard about omega? I was thinking of selling my 58, and getting an SMP. I like the way Omega does servicing. From what I’ve seen, you get back all the original parts that they replaced during service. I think that’s really cool.
@@wristopia4101 I see, makes sense! That was a fast response! 😂 did you see the rest of my comment? I edited it, shortly after posting. Curious what your thoughts are on Omega.
Never heard that about Tudor but everyone has different experiences. Yes you get all the parts back from Omega (we sold/serviced Omegas too) but I do not really see the advantage personally. All the bits that came back were pretty useless. It's nice to see they have been changed though, and they cut the seals to stop them being reused. Rolex servicing is less expensive because its on a part exchange basis. I do not want to flame Omega (or any brand) but they have their issues (which they will rectify). The SMP 300 clasp is known for locking shut (google it). I witnessed two guys having them physically removed from their wrist with screwdrivers. One was a few years old where the guy came in for help, and one was a customer trying on a new watch!
@ Sorry, I didn't give you my thoughts on Omega. My favourite brand and my single most favourite watch (Planet Ocean), but I am not as keen on their watches generally. Its really only the PO for me. Servicing was really slow about a year or so ago, but it's due to lack of decent staff so understandable.
@@wristopia4101 No worries, thanks for taking the time to share your insights!! That’s interesting that Omega cuts the seals on the old parts, making them useless. That’s the 1st time I heard that. I think the Pelagos 39 is stunning (even though a bit too small for me) and the best watch release that year. I like they release pieces randomly at the end of the year that are better than the ones at Watches and Wonders in March.
