Installing Beefier 370Z Sway Bars! (Front & Rear)

- If you want to make your vehicle feel like a proper sports car, the first aspect of any car that I would modify is the suspension. Ferraris, Porsches, and Lamborghinis do not feel sloppy around turns. They come well equipped with large sway bars, properly designed suspension, and that is all noticeable even at low speeds. Whether you take your car to the race track, you like driving down backroads, or you just want a predicable vehicle that can change direction if someone cuts you off, throwing some beefier sway bars on your car is no brainer.
Here is some simple logic as to why this is hands down the best suspension upgrade. The body roll your car has, the less snapback you will experience. That will give the driver more confidence as the vehicle will become more predictable. If the car is composed and predictable, you will be able to push your car harder, which then leads to faster lap times.
Another great thing about installing stiffer sway bars is that it will keep both of your tires more perpendicular to the ground which will help with traction. The more your tires are in contact with the pavement, the more grip you will have around a turn.
After purchasing these #HotchkisSportSuspension #SwayBars, I found some awesome looking billet sway bar brackets that are an incredible addition if you want to do this upgrade. These billet aluminum brackets have the same zerk fittings as the steel ones, however will be stiffer and won’t rust like the steel ones will. They are not a must, however are something to consider if you’re doing this upgrade. You can find a link below.

I have to say I am very impressed with how far your instructional videography has come along. This is very professional and greatly informative! Great job man. Keep up the good work.
You got my subscription for your conclusion at 9:00 mark. I respect the honesty about sway bars providing more change in handling that coilovers. A lot of guys won't admit that, respect for that honesty. Good instructional video as well.
Great Tutorial and explanation Milan, it looks so sick.
Great video - Ive got an Inifiniti Ex35 and Im not 'in love' with the handling. I feel like it has a LOT of body roll for my style driving. I would LOVE to know if I could get a G37 sway bar in an Ex35....
Hi Milan! Just I put an Eibach set on my Z about two weeks ago. I do a little more wet weather driving, so I opted for a less aggressive diameter bar. However, one thing I also installed while I was in the rear, were Z1 Rear Subframe Bushing Inserts. The on/off throttle response was instantly improved and the subtle play in the rear end was completely eliminated. I didn't realize just how much bushing flex there would be in a car with only 10,000 miles! I highly recommend that as a complementary upgrade to the sway bars.
Thanks for info.
Keeping it on stock springs and struts for now. But looking into these, however I’m dreading having to take off the muffler and rear bracing.
Hey Milan, just finished watching your car shelter video and noticed a few things and as I live in Quebec I felt the need to let you know. First thing is you really need to find a way to weigh down the shelter besides attaching straps to your car. I would either try to convince your parents to allow you to bolt it down into the driveway, or attach some rope around it to spike the rope down into the grass, as well as either bricks or sandbags on the tarp area on the sides. Without doing something like this you risk either having the tempo fly away damaging your car or other homes nearby. Even though the tempo may seem sturdy and heavy as it is, with wind flying underneath them or through the gate of them they life up almost like a plastic bag being thrown around in the wind. Hopefully you'll see this and good luck with the setup!
I will change my Swaybars tomorrow and this is a good reference. Great video.
Awesome video! Super helpful! About to do the install myself! This helps big time!
Good luck Noel :)
Cool. This specific sway bar set for this platform is great, but Its almost mandatory on the awd G version of this car. The rear sways there are laughably skinny. Also, never say never in terms of deterioration of the bushings. Late on greasing them for a cycle and you'll need new ones. Trust me from experience lol. Be ready to order some new endlinks btw. These swaybars killed my rear OEM set pretty quickly (they were already on their way out - g37).
I didn't know the rear was that dinky on the AWD model. Good to know :)
excellent info, thanks
Great videos dude very helpful
Thanks brother!! 🤘
Remote start for winter
How do u install that ??
Just got my Hotchis sway bars In yesterday! Super pumped to install them so this video is a god send, thanks bro‼️
I love this video sir just picked up the white line stage 1 kit. I’ve got it admintuned and fbo time for some suspension
Nice video! Very clear camera work and narration.
Glad you liked it!
Very informative and motivating you convinced me to purchase this product 👍
As always a good video. Admire the wheels you have on the Z. Which brand are they?
So nice to hear a well made, technical video from another Ontario driver. I'm now sold on F/R sway bars. Thoughts on strut tower?
What about a car like the Accord X? you can only find on the market are rear anti-roll sway bars and a and a strut tower bar... any suggestions?
Great vid. Can't wait to pick these up for my Z.
Hey quick question, where did you find the torque specs ?
I'm currently driving without any rear swaybar. One of the brackets just snapped because of rust and I couldn't replace it because of very rusty bolts. So I removed the whole sway bar. I didn't notice huge difference like I was expecting, but this video convinced me to try harder and install back my rear swaybar.
Excellent video...I'm going to do this because your explanation and the views you gave were perfect in every respect...especially the torque numbers and the location of all the hardware!! Thank you.
Happy to hear it Bruce :) Not a problem!!
Great video and very thorough. Are there any downsides to upgrading factory sway bars? Even for "no-brainer" upgrades, there's usually at least one trade-off even if it's minor like decreased MPGs because of heavier weight, stiffer/less compliant ride, or whatever. My DD is a Honda Accord. Will I "lose" anything by upgrading the sway bars?
Brian Burke stiffer sway bars will transfer more weight to the outside tires in a turn, which CAN compromise traction. it’s really all about your whole setup. you should put springs on it and new bushings just to keep it balanced.
if you have a nicely done up setup, it will be a somewhat stiffer. But the way your car would drive would be very worth it. I am considering upgrading them on my ‘13 G37xS
Nice concise vid Milan, great job 👍
I appreciate it man :)
before the upgrades did you experience your Zed’s rear letting go all of a sudden during a hard mid corner with no tire squeal or warning? Did the sway bar upgrades counter this unpredictable behaviour?
you're a beast dude. Very professional and informative video
I appreciate that! Thanks Dylan
Great one .. and many thanks for your excellent videos. However, you didn't change the end links, and here is my question, is it mandatory to replace the end links if I go with aftermarket swaybars? Because I am planning to upgrade the swaybars and I was wondering are the end links mandatory or must to be changed?
We’re you able to get your question answered about changing the end links ?
Hey Milan, how's it going? I really appreciate all your videos and hard work you put into them. I've learned a lot from all of them. Question: have you done a video on the accord with sway bars? I'm want some on my accord 08.
Hey Ricky! I'm glad :) I did not make a video when I did the sway bars on the accord. I wasn't doing RUclips much when I swapped out sway bars on the Accord. I do indeed have both fronts and backs though on it and it made a HUUUUGE difference :)
Nice video Milan!
Thanks Thomas :)
hey milan, i have a question,my car (w211 mercedes) goes to the right when on a straight road, changed my wheels and tires also balanced the car and tires, suspension is all ok i checked everything also the brakes. any idea what this might me? when i hit a something with the right side (front) it bangs hard, but when over bumps its ok.thanks
Google 'road crown'. Most roads are slightly banked to help rain water drain. If nothing on the vehicle is broken / bent, and the alignment is within spec, I would look into the road. Try driving on the opposite side of an empty road and see if the car drives to the left.
irdi basha maybe replace the camber bolts with new adjustable camber bolts
if it's happening during acceleration it could be the driveshafts (FWD)
Thanks for the great video, and all the other interesting and informative ones you've done. I have a 2019 370Z sport coupe 6M that I just ordered Hotchkiss front and rear swaybars for. They are going to be installed next week and I'm excited about it. I'm thinking of wrapping some Teflon pipe tape over the bars where the bushing clamps it down, along with greasing it.
very good video!
What's about the mini engine? we r waiting for it ..
Adjustable sway bars are excellent for tuning a car's roll couple. Wish all Aftermarket sway bars have this feature since TBH it's not that costly to implement at all.
So true!!
What are your thoughts on a polyurethane motor mount and transmission mount are they good bad
Do you need spl endlinks for this upgrade, or can you get away with stock end links?
You can use the stock ones. I am with no problems.
@@milanmastracci thank you .. this answered my question above I asked you the same. Keep it up bro, excellent channel and videos.
would you recommend coilovers and sway bar replaced or just one thing?
I would do coilovers, and then sway bars if needed.
Nice video brother, guna upgrade my 9th gen accord coupe. Had 13mm on my old accord, went to 22mm. Such a difference
Yep!! I have the same Progress RSB on my accord. If you haven't changed the front, definitely do it as it balances out the car so much!!
@@milanmastracci thinkin about the ones from the Acura TL, it's cheaper.
Hey buddy
You made video about BC coilover for accord .my question is; can I increase the height of the car to stock height?, because I saw the coilover is shorter than the stock one.
Thank you.
If the coilovers has adjustable thread then yes you can increase the height
Watched your sway bar upgrade vid and would like to upgrade the sway bars on my Gen 8 Civic coupe. Can you send me contact information for Hotchkis?
Quick question, what wheels do you have on the 370 Z ?, they look dope
Best video ever!
Milan what are good sway bars for my 2011 honda accord coupe v6?
TL-s front sway bar, Progress 22mm rear sway bar :)
Nice video! :D
Thanks man!! I appreciate it 👊
What happen to your Mini ?
He gave it away in a drawing.
He dont rebuilt the Engin yourself? What the Problem? The German doit this in a Basemant :-)
Do it matter if it upside down in the front? I noticed a lot of pictures have it installed and the middle close to the oil pan, mine facing downwards and I’m scraping hella shit
Well done Milan, however dont add me to the "you wanta Lower my car" group.. but I am considering changing the OEM sway bars (not just "adding sway bars") for that cool cornering experience.. Nothing like buzzing up and around the bend to find that Moose standing in the middle of the road while your face wonders where all that new found confidence disappeared to
Nice upgrades to the Z!
Thanks Erik!! :)
To bad my sway bar end links are rusted and the bolts are stripped
What about switching over to urethane bushings, but using the original bar?
That will help with making the sway bar more responsive
Would it help in my Honda odyssey?
Nice job on the video...
Based on my previous experience with my G35 , if you mods the springs, shocks , sway bars , you have to mods them all incl. Sway bar links , camber arms etc. Then wheel alignment. If you dont its gonna damage the threads of your tires faster than you can imagine. Remember dont cut corners, no short cuts, either you go for it or not at all, stick with oem.
Couldn't agree with you more!
I had these sway bars installed on my 2019 370Z sport coupe 6M about 6 months age and the results were impressive. The car turns in much more responsively and is nearly flat in the corners. My tire wear has evened out more, as there aren't as large +camber changes on hard cornering. Another advantage is that my front air dam doesn't scrape the ground as easily when I'm going over dips. The ride is slightly harsher, but it's not a big deal. These are indeed one of the best bang for your buck suspension mods you can make on the Z.
has this change you made on your car settled down the snap oversteer issue. I’ve got the exact same car as you in Chicane Yellow.
@@jacksparrow5281 I've never had any kind of oversteer or oversteer issues and, having pushed it hard through some corners on twisty mountain roads. It seemed to be pretty balanced and neutral in it's handling. The main effect of the bars was to better balance the weight distribution on cornering and to maintain better stability on transient impact loads on the suspension. The biggest tradeoff has been increased ride harshness, since I now have springs with a higher effective stiffness constant for wheel deflections on one side of the car.
@@videomaniac108 ok great thx for the input.
The old GOLF videos were the best Milan
By the way, at 7:00 when you are talking about the torque specs for the nuts, the numbers you say are different than the ones you provide in the description.
Will this sway bar help improve your 0 to 60 on the tracks
Sway bars do not improve acceleration, they change how your car behaves around turns. Whether it understeers or oversteers, you can correct it with sway bars.
@@milanmastracci thank you
What's the song called at the end of your videos!?
Well done! I'm old school Z-CAR!
Crazy thing is the front sway bars on an XS g37 is bigger than a Nismo/IPL sway bar. Just learned that today
Your a really good spokesman, you remind me of Larry @ AMMO NYC
Does ur Nissan already have the feature ??
SECOND!!!! GREETINGS FROM FINLAND!! TORILLA TAVATAAN!
Moi Moi
Today I Was looking to buy a sway bar for my 2008 g35 i looked on RUclips and you already read my mind
I was reading we shouldn't upgrade our rear sway bars because it creates more oversteer? someone was saying people take them off when they track. I'm gonna start looking it up. I upgraded my front and rears.
It depends on a lot. Your spring rates, your tires, and if you are running a staggered vs. square wheel setup makes every difference. The hotchkis bars are adjustable so you can play around with the rotation of the car depending on those aspects
@@milanmastracci I'm running staggered. should I not run an aftermarket rear sway bar? I have whiteline sway bars + SPL end links
Should I put sway bars on my stance car?
HELL YEAH BROTHER 🤙 That way you won't scrape going up speed bumps since the car will stay level 😏 #winwin
And are you getting stainless steel braided brake lines for the Z ??
I know you say upgrade both front and rear but typically it's been said it depends on if you have FWD or RWD and if correcting over or understeer. So FWD has understeer upgrade the rear. And RWD has oversteer, upgrade the front.
I disagree with that, I would still upgrade both. There is no reason to have the front end sorted and then have the rear end sloppy, or the other way around. That is what the rear sway bar for instance in this kit has the 3 different adjustments for the rear
Good ...
can this work with a g37x coupe???
Recommendations for 08' Accord? Sedan
JustNel I've got a 08 Accord Sedan as well! I've read that you can use the Sway Bars from the TSX directly, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm sure there are better sway bars performance wise, but the with TSX ones you get something OEM at least.
What I have in my Accord is a Progress 22mm rear sway bar, paired with a TL-S front sway bar. Makes a WORLD of a difference..
This seems like a great mod to my daily. It will just improve handling without affecting ride quality right?
Exactly :) The only time you really DON'T want a large sway bar, is if your suspension goes through large articulations. For example, if you are rock crawling in a Jeep. If you have a car that is made for regular city streets, it is an incredible mod :)
A lot of z owners just do the front bar siting that the rear is too stiff. Would love to hear your thoughts on how the rear bar makes the car act.
Hey man not sure if this comment will do much good 3 years later😭 but to answer your question after having them on for a year or so it’s made handling so much nicer on turns especially long not so sharp ones where you can def tell the car is holding onto the streets so much better.
Only thing is I left it on the middle setting on the rear like he did and one thing I noticed is that on sharp turns, with the torque of the 370z it tends to break traction a little easier even without wanting to do so
Like I was leaving grocery store exit which is a straight for 10ft then hard left and even going 10-15mph the tires want to break traction ( I hear the slight screeching as if I’m peeling off)
Do you have to get an alignment afterwards
no
As Bass Man said, you do not need an alignment afterwards :)
Milane, odakle si ? Ne mislim na Kanadu hahah
Shared and liked Ur video.. When's the next give away?
its true swayers make a huge difference
Night and day!!
you dont need to change endlinks?
Milan, would you recommend putting lowering springs on the stock suspension of a 2005 Mini Cooper R52 or just buying coilovers? Not sure if putting springs on 13 year old original suspension will hurt anything. Opinion??
NOTE: I've already installed front and rear Hotchkis swaybars.
If you plan on keeping your car and want to give it the best parts, coilovers are a much better option over lowering springs, however they are more expensive. I'm yet to hear putting springs on a vehicle 'ruin' the shocks, but the older they are, the more prone they are to failing. Find prices for new struts and lowering springs, and compare that to a set of coilovers. Weigh the pro's and con's and make a decision for yourself :)
@@milanmastracci That's fantastic advice and that's exactly what I'll do. Thanks for pointing me in a direction! I'm the Helen Keller of performance upgrades: blind, def, and dumb. Grazie!!!
what about the mini build
When the Z gets parked, the MINI series is going to be a full go :)
And it’s been two weeks! Where u been ??
Sam witwicky
Are you canadian? U say out like “ooouuttt” lol
On minor detail to your torque spec they are in a wrong units it is not ft.lbs but in Nm if you torque the front bracket nuts with 51ft.lbs you most likely strip the bolts.
Get a Z1 Motorsports splash shield
Where's the Mini? we want the mini back I'm going to start up a petition😢😉
Yo can I buy that white frs off of you?
for best result of understanding, better slow down the speed of the video at 0.75 :) lol
*to 0.75
I play them at 1.25 because he says everything two, three, or even four times.
Try increasing the processing speed of the receiving equipment.
@@dreednlb I play it at 2x speed because im crazy like that.

@@milanmastracci im waiting bro. Always with love keep doing
when will a new video...?
lol watching this at 370k subscribers. Working on the 370z
DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY'S TORQUE SPECS. THEY'RE WRONG. You're torquing all your nuts too much dude. You're reading the first value in the factory service manual which is N-m (Newton-meters). You want to be torquing to the third value if you're doing ft-lbs (foot-pounds). Just trying to save you from being another RUclips mechanic giving everyone false info. Maybe you meant Nm, I'm not sure. Your wheel nut torque is the only correct one...Just trying to save you from stripping any threads.
Thank you Mizan for catching that! They have all been revised :)
@@milanmastracci no prob man. Great video otherwise. I watched it before doing my sways. Thanks for the help!! Nice Z :)
