I’m so glad I found you RUclips as I haven’t been able to watch any shows on tv. You knowledge in almost everything is unreal and can’t stop watching the videos. Thanks for sharing 🤟😎
Naval Aviation guys every where are probably having a chuckle at the safety wire. Most QAR’s would snip that for ya. 😂. Got to learn the “around the world” move. As you hand twist the pliers make them go in a big circle (around the world) at the same time and you can get nice and tight to the bolt head with out the thick stuff breaking.
*Laughs in Naval Aviation* Great video! Back in my day, we'd have had to safety wire all that with one piece of wire!!!! (...makes old crotchety noises...)
This takes me back to watching u and Jesse on extreme 4x4. I loved watching u two on the weekends. U got a lot of fabricating skills my friend. If I only had half the talent u got. I would build some lot of shit
Hey Ian, love the channel. I've been a big fan for years. Just wanted to let you know that you and Derek from vice grip garage are the only reason I'm keeping the motortrend app. I didn't even know about car trend on the app and it took me better than a minute to try and look it up using my chromcast on my TV. I know the network pays big money and makes the impossible possible. But I'm getting tired of mediocrity when I can get just as good content on RUclips. I know you guys are getting paid and I love that. Just pass it along to the higher powers
Thanks for all the content Ian. I remember when Xtreme 4x4 first came out and being excited about an off-road show. I was a HUGE fan of the power block. I'm now enjoying your RUclips content. I was watching the q&a you did a while back where you talked about the history behind your beetle. It made me remember why I got into cars and trucks. Part of that was watching your show all those years ago. With that being said, was the route you took with your career worth it. I.e. moving into doing tv shows, and would you recommend if for other people. How would you recommend starting??
Love your content! Been a fan since xtreme 4x4. Started my passion for metal fab and custom car/truck builds. Thanks for all the hard work you kick ass!!
Love the LS Couldn’t help but notice the bug in the background what is the story with that I’m a VW guy dying to know how I can watch whatever you’re gonna do to that love watching you thank you for all the work you put in
Hey Ian! Thanks for all of the amazing content, I’ve been a life long fan. What is the best way for someone to get their start in Ultra4? Where’s a good place to start? Good chassis or platform to build off of? People to get in touch with? If you were to start from scratch, how would you do it?
Why are you TIG welding vs just MIG welding on the Bomber? Thanks for showing & explaining why they're setup like this. Love learning more about Ultra 4. Started watching KOH 5 years ago.
Would you ever do updates on where some of the your old builds are now? Even from the older shows. Things like the suburban you put the hummer body on?
Hi Ian great fan . What made you decide to build off road vehicles rather than going down the hot rod/custom cars? As a very novice welder is alright being told how to do stuff but for me it’s better to be shown how to do it just like you did on Extreme 4x4. Glad your back on RUclips
Hey Ian, curious of your thoughts on the Jeep 2.0L turbo motor. See lots of them at dealerships but never hear about them on the trails. How do you feel about turbos in the off road space? Would this be a negative for the new Bronco? Thanks
Great stuff Ian. I know you've quite a few off road/adventure vehicles. My question is how do you choose the right gear ratios to go with the tire size? Appreciate any input. Thanks, John and Jr
Love the shows keep ‘‘em going wondering your shop seems like a dream to others but is there any upgrades your planning or hopes for the future of your shop build wise or tool wise ?
he did not put the mounts on wrong someone put the engine in backwards lol ..Great update ..do you ever get to NY .. I am about a hour away from Buffalo towards Erie PA .. Up on the hill sitting on 30 acres ,, Deer and Bear country ,,
Ian what's your thoughts on the 4L60 in an off-road rig? I haven't done a lot of research but it seems like they don't last long. Most people are going 4L80 or TH400.
Been a jet mechanic for 26 years, I'd have cut that an made you redo it lol. You need a couple 7 lvl twists in there to snug those loops up.....now I'll go back and watch from the beginning.
I knew the aircraft guys would be busting my ass on that safety wire....good thing these off road rigs are not FAA rated....they only leave the ground for short periods of time
Hey Ian! Another great episode. Looking forward the MT series on the Colorado. QUESTION: Welding helmets - I have a Miller Elite and I can't say I am entirely happy with it. I just don't feel like I have the vision I should - I can either barely see the puddle, or it blows out my vision. Can you tell me what's your favorite and why?
Hey Ian! been a long time fan. I was curious if you ever keep track of your previous projects and where they end up? Thanks stay awesome and keep up the sweet offroad content
it is thick enough that it will not warp....what you want is to make sure that the bracket doesn't deflect.....I do that on the fab table basically fixturing it in place before welding
Hey Ian, love your content, and I remember watching you years ago on Xtreme 4x4. You have a lot of knowledge, and love learning from your experiences! But I have to ask about your coffee you brew in the beginning of each episode, how is the coffee? They might be a sponsor but just curious as I like good coffee. Thanks!
Ian: "We got this used powertrain for a screaming deal that you'll never find." also Ian: "Watch me assemble $6000 worth of brake parts that you can't afford." We love ya, buddy! On a serious note, I have a 2011 F150 with part-time 4x4 and the E-locker in the rear. I like selectable lockers, but it really leaves me with 1-tire squirrelly traction action on wet pavement. How hard would it be to throw a LS or Torsion carrier in the rear (easy part) and re-route the wiring for the e-locker to the front diff? I know the front is a different size and possibly reverse rotation, so it would be replacing both carriers rather than moving one, but it seems like it would be much more streetable with double the traction off-road and I'd even keep the factory control. Thoughts?
Q&A question. You built a bad ass yj to give away on xtreme 4x4. How did you feel about the winner being a lady in her late 60's and obviously not an enthusiast? Be honest.
Hey Ian, don’t mean to be critical, but your safety wire would never work in the aircraft industry, to loose. Get an A&P mechanic to show you how to do it correctly.
Why do people like you always fixate on things that do not matter? Like a small child that walks into the middle of a conversation thinking you can take it over.

It’s such a busy shop….I mean I know you said it…. but seeing the reality of it is amazing
I like watching shows like this, lots of good tips and things to look for.
Love the videos Ian. Done my share of safety wire on my ZX10R for track days!!😃
Ready to see the Colorado build
I really that kind of vlog format. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing I really enjoyed that video
My dad did aircraft engine work most of his life, taught me how to safety wire before I was even allowed to chabge the oil in a lawn mower.
Another great video 👍👍🇨🇱

I want to learn TIG welding. I have a Hobart Handler 210 MVP MIG, should I get a tig only set up or sell my mig and get a multi process machine?
Great job as always.
Whats up with that Defender in the shop, can you tell more about it??

Will you go through the list of all the vehicles you own?
I see lots of different boxes in your shop now, do you still have the Tekton box? If so how is it holding up. Thinking aboot getting one.
Love to see a video longer than 20 minutes of you doing work and not talking about project that we can see unless we pay a subscription.
Great content!
Thank you
Are there any show projects you have built that you wish you could have personally owned that you either passed up or never had the chance?
We got the same torque wrench👌🏼🤘🏼
Have you seen our stuff that we do at our shop? Nothing you haven’t seen but we got a KiDz Buggy!
Bought that Snap On wrench when I was about 17 years old
Looking good!!!
Ian, tech question: with the plasma table, and multiple bays/tools you use, what type of air compressor do you run, and how did you plumb the shop?

I'm interested in the Colorado build. Where can I get more info on it, especially the frame?
The build will be on Motortrend this fall
You ought to try and safety wire a drain tube on a GE F101 engine. On your back with left hand B nuts and right hand B nuts.
I can only imagine....I love and hate safety wire....and am no way any type of safety wire expert
Been a jet mechanic for 26 years, I'd have cut that an made you redo it lol. You need a couple 7 lvl twists in there to snug those loops up.....now I'll go back and watch from the beginning.

@@BigTireGarage lol it's nothing but love Ian
@@BigTireGarage those aviation guys get twisted off about safety wire!!!! LOL 😂
@@Brandonbaughman It used to be one of my biggest peeves, but through the years I've gotten to the "is it functional?" mindset lol.
Enjoying the show and Question UA sponsor Falken how do you like there tires?
Question: What lube do you recommend for open joints with out a grease fitting?
Keep it up
What truck project is next to the Bomber?

Do you have enough lighting where you’re working? Try setting up another work light to better illuminate where the weld is.
Hey Ian! been a long time fan. I was curious if you ever keep track of your previous projects and where they end up? Thanks stay awesome and keep up the sweet offroad content
With the weld on caliper bracker, how do you keep the mount fron warping?

Safety Cable guns makes this so much faster.
Do you ever consider doing driveway rescues on your show?
Would love to do those again...no time on the new show TBH
🙏🏻🫡 nice I like it were this is going

Where's the old samurai build?
Would a 5.3 fit into an 02 tacoma?
Yes....a 4.7 Toyota V8 fits....so the LS should fit fine
Do you ever have apprentices help you? Be fantastic if Your thought process and skills were shared with an eager builder to be.
🍻👍
Why not dry sump the engine instead of a deep sump pan?
Comes with deep sump pan from factory

True...but the 60 has a great 1st gear
@@BigTireGarage I had a 2600 stall TC built for my 4.8, 4l80, mag/np205 combo, I run 40s and 538s and it is almost perfect in everyway!!
