My health took a serious turn for the worse, and I had given up hope of making it there. December '22 I had 3 different Drs tell me I had a predicted life expectancy of 3-6 months tops. I just barely made it through last winter, and since have made a remarkable recovery. Now I'm stronger and more active than 20 years ago. Back on track to land in Dumaguete early April. Regards.
I have tried most of my life to live as a gray man. I drive plain Jane vehicles. I don't wear jewelry or fancy clothes and I don't wear any kind of logo. As an American, I do have an opinion of the US Gov but most don't like my opinion, so I don't share it. I also have an opinion of the Philippine gov. I hated its lockdowns and I hate its lefty ideology. Yet, when in the Philippines you won't hear that coming out of my mouth. One thing that I do love about the Philippine gov is its inefficiencies and incompetencies. A competent government is a scary one, especially in the years moving forward with their digital currencies and absence of cash. We won't have to worry about that in the Philippines for a long time. They can't even keep the power on. Many complain about the inefficient gov of the Phil, not me, I love it.
Great to see you back online and in the Phil. Especially after the recent DramaGete trash load gracefully provided by Paul ;). U r one of very few that offers some depth and real value not necessarily Philipines related in comparison to the trash floating on U tube. Stay viable. Enjoy and good luck. Looking forward for more of what your potential has to offer. :).
I along with most agree wholeheartedly, to monitor the politics on the internet in the privacy of your home if that's important to you and leave it at home. My biggest concern is whether it will rain today while deciding what restaurant to eat at later or do I want to take a nice long ride somewhere or whatever else I choose to fill up my day. There are too many other fun things to think about related to personal enjoyment.

I really appreciate your advice and will take that to heart.. yes you are so right the culture in this country that I love has become so sad and toxic why would you want to bring that baggage with you.. The US seems to have a "look at me!" culture which isn't welcomed in the rest of the world but is so pervasive there that it's regarded as normal. I notice this commonly in comments under RUclips videos where the subject may be, for example, about living costs in the Philippines and someone will comment that they have a large amount of retirement savings and combined retirement income well beyond anything discussed as necessary in the video. They don't seem to be aware that this information doesn't add anything to the discussion of living costs in the Philippines & is really nothing more than the crowing of a rooster. This schoolyard behaviour is clearly acceptable in the US but just puzzles the rest of us.
I think people should be honest. Wear merch from the folks who own the politicians….Blackwater, JP Morgan Chase, etc. 😂 Good points, y’all have enough drama in Dumaguete
What do you think of the strengthening of the military bases in the Philippines….it’s effect on the people and the ex pats…..good…bad or indifferent ….to their lives…economy…etc….

I agree, Most Americans want to be left alone, most want to be out of other countries politics, We are a self sufficient nation, we won our independence. The situation in our country is very dire. As a veteran we want out of all our foreign bases period. This intervention by our do gooders does nothing but give excuses for people like you make asumptions about our republic.
I’m thinking of Puerto Rico which was also acquired by the US after victory in the Spanish-American war. I’m thinking the Philippines is effectively a de facto unincorporated territory of the US due to its strategic location in the 1st island chain.

I have never ever heard the Philippine National Anthem being sung at 10am. That sounds more like North Korea or China.
Go to any shopping mall and listen.
