My kids love it that it is our special day to celebrate that we have each other. For us, its in July...so far removed from Christmas.
I deeply regret all the years of striving to make Christmas a warm, memorable time for my 5 children!! 😔 now most of them have children of their own and don’t understand my recent change of conviction on this. This was an awesome discussion! So much resonated with me AND gave me new perspective. I personally feel that the NT church has supported rebellion and a lack for a reverence for YAH. I remember going to my "Christian" husband in fear that we should NOT celebrate Christmas & Easter and being given excuses. I was in a mindset to "obey" my husband over the Holy Spirit. Praise Yah, years later, when we were unchurched he came to the same conclusion! No one else in my life feels the same.
I absolutely love this teaching. I have been the one who has had to draw the line in the sand. It has been very painful. My family doesn't understand. We were all there we understand the people still in these practices. The hard part is not being understood by the latter. That’s why not forsaking the fellowship and finding that, holding on to that is so invaluable. My wife who is agnostic has seen so much change in me this past year + coming out of Babylon and it’s definitely been rough on us both. Navigating the world while holding on to Yah’s truth is definitely not an easy task. Choosing to love and follow him first, that’s been the narrow path I’ll take. Praise Yah for the growth process ❤.

I needed to listen to this for the encouragement to do right. My children and grandchildren are in a big Christmas play at church today. They are expressing a lot of hurt and anger with me for not celebrating Christmas.

Your situation is an extremely difficult one and I can both sympathize and empathize with you as I felt terribly torn when I passed on attending my granddaughter’s activities on the Sabbath. This year, I ‘ran away’ from Christmas in my hometown as I was so troubled about ‘being in this world but not of it’. I may not be able to actually escape it, but it IS so much easier, not being around all my family and seeing the goings on and/or asked to be a part of it. I chose instead, to go on an extended ‘vacation’ and do a personal Bible study on Hebrews which I am thoroughly enjoying. God has been so good to me. You are in my prayers ♥️🙏🏻

We know it isn't his birthday, and we were told to remember his death until he comes,and that isn't even Easter, its Passover. Why do Christmas?" I don't know if it makes anyone think. I pray the spirit uses those words to convict others.
I agree with another commenter that christmas is mainly pushed by women. I think the reason for this is the emotional attachment to this holy day. It has a strong pull on those who are controlled by their emotions.

The Bible gives us the timeframe of Christ’s birth - it tells us when Mary was pregnant when she met her cousin while they were both pregnant - that timeframe of when her cousin’s husband was serving in the temple. The birth seems to line right up with the feast of tabernacles- Sukkot- Yah came to dwell with us

Many people claim Jesus celebrated Hannakuh, but the verse they use Shows Jesus in Jerusalem during Hannakuh, and he tells the crowd "“I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. --- If Jesus speaks for His Father, it would appear that His Father did not consider the Hannakuh Celebrators "His People".
I have been studying this for several years because I was celebrating Hannukah and felt conviction not to. First we need to have two or three witnesses to say that He was celebrating Hanukkah. Second He says not to add to or take away from His Word and Yeshua never sinned. Third the hannikiah is a nine branch which is adding to scripture. The middle candle in the hannikiah that is elevated above the rest is called the shamash. If you look it up it's the name of a pagan sun god 😢 There are three Hannukah's or dedications in The Old Testament. They are each seven days and not one of them was celebrated yearly. The "miracle of oil" is only found in the Talmud. There's no record of the apostles or disciples celebrating Purim or Hannukah. If they were so important wouldn't they tell us about them? If we truly believe that we can't add to or take away from His instructions how can we in good conscience celebrate Hannukah and Purim? We lose all creditability telling people not to celebrate the pagan days but then celebrate Hannukah and Purim. We create our own stories that it's in the Bible..... But MAN said to celebrate these.... How are we any different than the people celebrating xmas etc? Man told them to celebrate those days too. We have to decide if we are going to actually obey His instructions not to add to His Word or if we are going to be hypocritical and celebrate man made holidays and then point fingers at others telling them how wrong they are..... 😢😢😢
I heard someone say "Too many roll from the bed of the Pope right into the arms of a Rabbi" It's a funny illustration, but does seem strong in the Torah movement. I refrain from it because it makes for a weak witness. Its hard to advocate for the appointed Holy Days, step back from a tradition only to walk into another tradition. Even moreso, that many have turned into a blue and white Christmas. As for feast of dedication in John, it reads more as a time marker than participation. Additionally, he is rebuking the ones there as not doing the father's will and saying they are not of his fold and His sheep hear His voice. I would look at his presence there more as an opportunity of correcting error than participation, actually. Attendance and participation are two different words. That's my position anyway. 😁

It makes for a weak witness and causes confusion when advocating for God's Appointed Holy Days. It's tearing down one tradition to pick up another. As Christmas has evolved, it seems Hanukkah has become a form of blue & white Christmas with fabled traditions. Many use John as "Jesus celebrated", but in reading the passages, It reads more as a time marker than participation. Many will acknowledge that Christmas wasnt His birth, so even to continue, is saying with action, that we prefer the lie. Additionally, there is no evidence of the righteous celebrating their birth annually. This was prevelent in the nationa practice like Pharoah, Herod and possibly Job's son. All were seen negatively. According to Deuteronomy 12 we are commanded not to worship YHVH in the same manor as the nation. To continue in an ANNUAL birthday celebration of our Lord, you would have to prove His birthday was being celebrated PRIOR to the surrounding nations. To that, there is none. The gifts of the magi werent so much as a gift of birth, but rather acknowledging the king.
I keep the ten commandments and remembering to keep the 7th day Sabbath day Holy, in God’s strength as he commanded and the communion service of washing of the feet and partaking of the unleavened bread and unfermented juice. I do not take part in X-Mas, Easter, or the feasts. Jesus came as the lamb of God and we do not required to keep the feast. As you grow closer to God you will also find these things profane to You and God.

Additionally, he is rebuking the ones there as not doing the father's will and saying they are not of his fold and His sheep hear His voice. I would look at his presence there more as an opportunity of correcting error than participation, actually.

Additionally, there is no evidence of the righteous celebrating their birth annually. This was prevelent in the nationa practice like Pharoah, Herod and possibly Job's son. All were seen negatively. According to Deuteronomy 12 we are commanded not to worship YHVH in the same manor as the nation. To continue in an ANNUAL birthday celebration of our Lord, you would have to prove His birthday was being celebrated PRIOR to the surrounding nations. To that, there is none. The gifts of the magi werent so much as a gift of birth, but rather acknowledging the king.
I keep the ten commandments and remembering to keep the 7th day Sabbath day Holy, in God’s strength as he commanded and the communion service of washing of the feet and partaking of the unleavened bread and unfermented juice. I do not take part in X-Mas, Easter, or the feasts. Jesus came as the lamb of God and we do not required to keep the feast. As you grow closer to God you will also find these things profane to You and God.
