    It's funny how just a 5-8 degree drop in temps after so many ultra hot days feels like such a big change. You walk outside and think to yourself "there is a chill in the air!" Meanwhile, those not used high heat think we are crazy 😂

      Same here in Phoenix. Early last week I noticed the change in the air and so did my plants. They have started blooming again!

      Exactly! We were down to 105 in Peoria AZ, the humidity was down, and it felt almost pleasant outdoors.

      lol! Very true. My cousin from So. Cali is complaining of heat in the low 90’s while I say it’s cool here in Vegas. We only hit 102 today. 😁

    You have created a perfect oven situation for yourself. Everything is covered with concrete or stone! The wall reflects heat, all the stones surrounding the plants, concrete pavers and slab under fake grass all absorb heat. Suggest to remove stones out of garden and try bark chips, put all cacti’s in the ground even if you have to expand your garden. The stone is heating your garden up and your plants are showing you the results of that.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  16 дней назад +1

      So true. I would love to change my backyard to suit my plants’ needs. But our backyard is shared by different hobbies and interest of the family. The grass area is my son’s and dogs’ playground. The paved area is where my husband sets up all his grilling equipment and entertain guests. I am considering though replacing some stones with the wood chips as you suggested. I’ve started doing it on my big pots. I will do the same in my cactus garden, slowly. 😊 Thank you.

    I can see where those large opuntia might get outta hand. I'm surprised the asparagus fern would even live there in that heat. Even though they are pretty tough. Great clean up!! Looks great Ana!!! Thanks for sharing!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful week ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌻🌷🌴💐🌱🍀🌹🌿🌸🌳🪴🌾🏜😃👍

      I planted those asparagus ferns when I just moved to Vegas. I had no idea what I was doing. But I am surprised too that after 12 years, they are all still alive. 😁

    Hi, your plants always look so great. South Texas has had temps over 100 as well which is normal for us. As aug. ends we start having high temps in mid to upper 90s and night time lows start to be in mid 70s.
    Here is a little cowboy humor, the devil came to Texas one day and said , it was too hot, so he went back home .

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  19 дней назад +1

      Oh you have got hot temps, too! Lol at your cowboy joke. Las Vegas is known as the Sin City. Maybe the devil made a stop here, too. 🤣 Our nights have only gone down to the 80s right now. But I’m so ready for fall. 😊

      I am surprised too but I found out that they are not a true fern. They are on timed sprinklers that watered them all summer long. They will look almost dead by the end of summer. But they always recover.

    Hi Ana, Here in Phoenix it is exactly the same as Vegas! I've been doing the same tasks as you! Finally we can get back out there and work on our plants! I noticed you didn't have gloves on working, especially with the Opuntias. I have to wear gloves. I end up having to throw them away sometimes because they get glochids I cannot get out. Better the gloves than my hands though. Do they bother you?

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  16 дней назад +1

      I usually wear gloves. I hate glochids, too. But honestly, I lost the other hand of my pair that day. 😂 But I was using the long tongs and I was very careful. 😊
