Both have same sensor and resolution for the front camera. But in A229 pro even the rear camera has Starvis 2 sensor. So considering both front and rear video quality aspect, A229 Pro is better. Considering the price aspect, A810 is better (cheaper)
Thanks for this good review I have question can I see the camera throughout the app from my home (live) or I have to be close to the car Also is there SIM card ( for Internet ) in the dash cam Thanks ❤
Installation of the front camera should be purely done based on your preference and not based on what anyone else says. Find a spot close to the center of the windshield, make sure that the dashcam doesn't obstruct your vision much, at the same time being accessible as and when required. You can find a good sir based on these 3 points.
@@traveltechyoutube Thanks and that makes perfect sense. I installed it tp the left of the mirror since right at the center meant in was in the line of my sight

@@traveltechyoutube Thank you so much for your prompt response. I have a concern re warranty dispute on hardware kit installation - hardware is required only if we need parking recording?
Correct. Hardwire kit is required only if you need parking monitoring. If not, don't get hardwiring done. The regular 12v socket power cable is sufficient.
In delhi, temperatures are like 47-48 degree celsius in summer months. What would you suggest? in built battery or super capacitor based dash cam given the longetivity. I assume battery will start showing issues. I am considering four options. Wolfbox iO7, 70mai A810, Vantrue N4 pro, Viofo 229 pro… budget no bar. After sales support is a concern.
Battery is not used to run the dashcam. The dashcam runs only by direct power via cable or OBD or hardwiring kit. Battery is for maintenance of time and to finish recording videos once the power is suddenly disconnected. Also there is no data to suggest battery based dashcams cause any issues in the long run. It's safe to say the battery vs super capacitor issue is a bit overhyped especially in the dashcam scenario, when compared to smartphones where the primary source of running the smartphone is battery. You can go with either of those without worry.
@@traveltechyoutube Really appreciate the prompt reply! Thanks a lot! I have converged to three options excluding vantrue. Now the final decision maker is night time recording and app connectivity and experience with iphone. Which one would you recommend? I am just so confused right now.
Finally I purchased Viofo a229 pro after watching all your comparison videos. Thanks for helping me by answering all my questions. I am having iPhone and i found viofo app for apple is very slow responsive and live view in the app is horrible. I think live view is useless. While in your video, android app is super responsive and video quality coming in live video is far way better. Is there any settings i need to change or this is how it works in Apple phones.
Hello. Glad to know you purchased A229 Pro. Regarding to your query about iPhone app, disable WiFi assistance feature... Is it better to install the cameras directly on the glass surface or on the electrostatic films? Will the footage become blurred after a few months if the camera is recording through the films instead of directly through the glass?
You can attach via both direct glass or sticker. It I think you might have misunderstood the sticker part. The sticker doesn't interfere with the camera view. You have to fix the camera in a way the the sticker only takes up the mount part and doesn't extend as far down to interfere with the camera lens view.
I did everything on this video but my camera doesn't turn on even after I turn the car on. But the camera works at home when I charge it to the wall port. ???? Why isn't it working? edit: uhhh turns out the 12v insert is the issue. I used the insert from my old dash cam and it turns on.
Which memory card are you using with this dash cam? Also what is the size? And is it doing good or facing any issue as I heard with most of the SanDisk cards.
How is the G sensor sensitivity on this one? I had 70mai a800s and even on lowest sensitivity, it always recorded emergency videos. So i have returned it and planning to buy 70mai A810. So is this better implemented on this one? And is it worth spending extra money on this one compared to 70mai A810?
Yes. This has an advanced parking mode compared to others. You can watch this video to know more about how amd what parking modes are available: ruclips.net/video/9o7KYVnUZug/видео.htmlsi=J6mf9nIX0tOA78jO
Actually my query is related to sensitivity of g sensor during driving, where it tries to record emergency video during an accident. So even on low sensitivity, 70mai seems to be recording emergency video on potholes, so is this viofo a229 pro better in that part?
Hi, thanks for ur videos. I have almost made up my mind for a229 plus 3 channel alongwith with cpl filter. But will it be worth spending few thousands extra for a229 pro. Can u pls comment on this.
Definitely. For starters, you get 4K Starvis2 combination on the front which is unbeatable. Secondly, you get CPL filter within the box so no need to purchase separately. Go with it. Do purchase using my affiliate link to help support my work. Here is the link: amzn.to/3RCbIla
Hi. Will you be able to quantify the sensitivity of motion detection? I mean how far can it detect motion if sensitivity is set to low, medium and high? My current setting is motion detection is set to low and parking g-sensor is set to high. It seemed to have not stopped recording since I left the car parked.
I sent your question to VIOFO, they say that you may have done hardwiring incorrectly, and that is why the dashcam is still recording in normal mode even after it is parked. Secondly, they say the motion sensor, even if set to low, will continue to record any light flickering or tree leaves moving. It cannot be turned off independently. They didn't provide specific info about the sensitivity of the sensor. Thirdly, if your issue persists, I recommend you get it touch with VIOFO service via WhatsApp or any other contact number and get your issue resolved directly by them.
@@traveltechyoutube Thanks for bringing this up to them but to answer your first statement, It's quite impossible for me to hardwire it incorrectly because: 1. The dashcam tells me that it will go on Parking Mode after I turn off the engine. 2. All recordings while the engine is turned off are saved in the Parking folder. I don't think the circumstances above will happen if the dashcam doesn't go on parking mode. On your second statement, they have to give more transparency about how low is low, how medium is medium and how high is high so we'll know what to expect and it would avoid the suspicion that something is wrong with the dashcam. For example, low means it can detect motion that's 3 feet away from the dashcam. medium would mean 7 feet away from the dashcam and 12 feet on high. On your third, well I hope their tech support is good.
Well, you can state all this to their tech support. I just conveyed what you told me and sent you back their response. None of it is mine. So go ahead, contact Viofo directly and get things sorted. All the best.

The number of cameras is not the criteria. Resolution, sensors, parking modes, service support etc play an important factor. A229 pro has imx678 with 4K resolution. N5 I think has only 2.7K resolution with imx675 sensor. Also, a229 pro has Starvis 2 for rear camera and Starvis for interior cam. Hi, can I use the Viofo A229 Pro 3 channel, one camera on each side of my semi truck, and one camera facing the front?
Do all the cameras detect motion or only the front camera does?
All cameras
Does the app has timeline functionality to view past recordings similar to 70mai app ?
no
Where do you hide the cable from the front all the way to the back
Along the top and side rubber beading of the car
Thank you, very professional..

Should i go with the Viofo 229 pro 3ch or 2ch ? Please suggest.
