An excellent video! A word of caution- Although I did not witness this tidbit in your video, the fuse tap orientation is very important to be where the power actually goes through the fuse and not bypass it. Be sure to check which leg of the fuse block is hot and face the tap in the opposite direction from the hot side.
Wow, such a simple and informative video definitely deserves more views and likes, thanks for making this wonderful video explaining parking mode and constant recording.
Also worth mentioning, the new fuse being added must equal to or have less amp rating the original. Additionally, avoid tapping into critical power circuits such as onboard computer, air bag etc.
Not quite. The new fuse you install would be 3amp max for the camera itself. The original fuse will stay the same. The piggybacked fuse doesn't go through the original fuse, it spurs off of the connection before the fuse so it doesn't need to be less than the original.

Nice video, thank you! One question: For a car with the fusebox in the trunk and the hardwire Viofo kit just a bit short to reach, what gauge of wire can be used to splice the slightly longer distance?
To extend the hardwire cable, you can use 18 - 20 gauge wire. Just make sure you buy solid copper wire and not CCA (copper clad wire) which is basically solid aluminum wire coated with a copper plating on the outside.
How did you hide the wires...? At 3:18 and 3:41 the wires are going from the fuse socket and running outside of the dash, at 3:53 suddenly they're tucked inside, all nice and neat. How did you hide the wires running from the dashcam into the fusebox so they are no longer outside at all...???

When parking mode is turned on in the settings, there will be an icon of a car in the top left corner of the LCD screen (this just means the setting is on, not that it's in parking mode). When you turn off the car, the camera should enter parking mode within about 5 seconds. When it enters parking mode, the icon of the car will change to the icon of the chosen parking mode. So if you chose Low Bitrate, the icon will change to a video camera. Auto Event Mode will change to a stick figure. Great video, very helpful... BUT, can you explain why there are 2 fuses on the fuse taps... the fuse you pull from the spot your going to tap into goes in side of the tap, but what's the other fuse doing? and what rating does it need to be?
There are 2 fuse taps because one if constant 12V providing battery power when ignition is off (parking mode recording). The other fuse is ignition 12V providing power when the car is running and driving (normal recording). Both fuse rating can be 5A or 10A.

I understand i can use cig lighter and bypass this whole setup but i would like to know how to do the other version of setup. thanx
The input cable of the Cellink will need to be hardwired to your fuse box. The output cable from Cellink battery to the Viofo dashcam can be premade output USB C cable that plugs straight into the dashcam, or a un-spliced output cable that you connect to a Viofo hardwire cable. As to which output cable to use depends on where you bought your Cellink. How do I know if my parking mode is recording if then the power is off. And where are the files for parking mode kept! I’m asking because I just had my dash cam installed and i came seem to get the parking mode to work…it’s the one feature I wanted! Thanks for your help.
So the yellow one is the acc+ only turns on when the ignition is turned on to the on position? And the red wire goes to constant 12v which is always on?
So if I don't want to use parking mode and want to be absolutely sure this will not drain any of my battery, what are my options? I don't see that viofo offered a 2 wire kit and I do not want to just turn off parking mode on the camera. Can you safely crimp the red and yellow wires into the same tap and plug into a fuse that's only on when the car is turned on?
I have the same question. I've read on a dashcam forum that it's not recommended to tie the red & yellow wires together. It might be possible to connect just the yellow (ACC) wire to switched battery and leave the red wire unconnected as red is only used for Parking Mode power.
Please let me know the amperage of the fuse to be installed in the upper slot of the fuse tap for dash cams in general and wolfbox i07 in particular. Thanks in advance.
when you turn off the ignition and it is connected to a battery in parking mode, should a red light flash on the camera? How do you know it is in parking mode?
Once you turn the car off, there should be two lights on. 1 is for the mic/audio and the other one is the recording light. After you turn the car off about 30 seconds later that recording light should start blinking fast which means is working properly in parking mode.
@@dial2fast Can you easily disable parking mode so when you're parked in your garage at home overnight and dont need it or do you have to go into the menu manually each time you want it off and on?
need help asap. I tried contacting Viofo but no answer yet. my cam is hard-wired I fixed all the settings for parking mode. it will work for a few days normally but when hot camera screen goes black and wouldn't turn back on. keep in mind the led light is on for record and mic. parking mode doesn't seem to work as well even though the camera goes into parking mode when the car turns off.
Just got the A129 Plus Duo and judging from the footage, looks like the parking mode stopped at about 4/5 hours in, on parking mode. There was a mix of normal video and time lapsed footage. I'm guessing I only lasted 4/5 hours because it drained my cars battery?
If I understand correctly, this device interprets the voltage coming from ACC (or not) and then signals the camera to go into parking mode while still providing power? I already have an always-on USB power source that I'm running this camera from - is there no way to just manually tell the camera to enter parking mode? It is receiving power when my car is off. This video is great but I'm pretty disappointed to find I'll have to spend more time and money to use one of the camera's advertised features.
Just to clarify, if I want to use the parking mode, left over night, set on 12 v the camera would automatically turn off, so not to drain the car battery, roughly how long does it record b4 it turns off, I really like this can, but want to know everything about it To transfer files to mobile phone, would I need to bring the unit inside to do that, as I'm not sure if my WiFi would work in my driveway, I'm hoping this is a simple process, would a Bluetooth device be better, and what is the length range for Bluetooth to work Sorry for these questions, I'm not at all tech savvy, so any information would be appreciated.
At 2:57 you say you should use the panel to figure out what fuses are constant 12V and you point a couple out that look completely identical to me and say they're different and just move on. What was written on that panel that told you the PWR-SOCKET(ACC-1) was ignition 12V and the ELEC-PARTS(BAT-2) was constant 12V?
The info I showed is an example of what's in my vehicle. The fuse label is a starting point to give you some idea which fuse you can test. Every make and model of car is different. You need to test it with a multimeter to see which fuse in your vehicle will give you ignition or constant 12V. This install require some basic electrical knowledge. If the person is not familiar or not comfortable with doing this, take it to a car stereo install shop and have them install it.
@dial2fastAmazing video so far the best i have seen ..but i have a problem i have installed my car following this video and is working good the only thing which is not working or responding is the parking mode even i have turn it on by setting auto event detection parking mode but still its not working every thung else is fine the camera turns on with ignition and i have attached the red wire with acc constant fuse and yellow wire with igntion switch any idea guys how can i make it right fot auto parking mode???
You and I might be trusting this installation example too much. I noticed that the video shows the power connection going to the GPS mount. If you look at the instructions on the hardwire kit box, it clearly conflicts with what is shown in this video. The instructions show the power cable connected to the USB connection on the side of the camera. Try that and please post a comment here if that works.
@@mattdorsey2244 The problem does not come from there, I myself connected to the USB of the GPS support and the switch to parking mode when I switch off the ignition works perfectly. So I'm thinking more of a connection or configuration error.
I bought the VIOFO Hardwire kit with the A-139 Pro. I had a company install the camera and it's powered via the rear view mirror power ports. @@dial2fast You're so right. I opened up the camera box yesterday and found the Hardware kit. I guess it's not a big deal either way. Thank you for the reply.
do you know how to add an on/off switch box to that setup? I would like to be able to turn off the camera completely when the car is in the garage instead of turning off the park mode in options each time.
@@dial2fastI'm totally green in the subject. if I connect the on/off box to the constant 12v fuse socket won't the camera still turn on on the parking mode? I once saw a similar setup but it only used one fuse. does it make sense to set it up that way? are there any downsides?
I owned a simple hardwire kit from viofo and I managed to convert it into lighter socket, this way I was able to plug two A119 cameras into one kit. Is it possible to do the same with this one?
If you want to record anything happening to your car, then Auto Event Recording. With this it will record a full framerate video of the actual event and not just a choppy low framerate video.
Would it be an issue if I use the parking mode using the power bank for mobile? I’m currently using and it works well with all the functions for the parking mode. It has been 3 hours now and the power bank seem to have not lost its power and I can see the video recording well. Suggestion appreciated.
Yes, but keep in mind that according to their Website zur Viofo- A129 uses ~3.8 Watt in parking Mode. And it depends on what type of batteriers does your Powerbank has.
Hi. Is there any way to use the hardware kit cable if I don't wan't to use parking mode? I just want to use the dash cam when the engine is on. Shall I merge red and yellow calbes for this?
I've seen so many VDO clips to demonstrate the wiring methods. You're the best I've chosen as it's very simple and easy to follow. The fuse box of my Toyota Yaris Hatch 2014 is in the engine compartment. How can I run it through because the fuse box has a lid to completely cover it? Many thanks.
I have bought a hardware kit to make the camera work while the car is off and make it a recording while in motion only, but I want to make it work like a normal dash cam while the vehicle is moving. How do I switch between the two modes?
If you bought the Viofo hardwire kit and wired or properly, then just need to turn on the parking mode and select the appropriate options and it should work. It should automatically switch between parking mode and normal mode
If you want continuous recording and save space, then go with Low Bitrate recording. Keep in mind, the parking mode will shut down once it reaches the battery cutoff voltage to conserve car battery. So don't think parking mode will run for days.
The mic light is normal since you need audio just in case someone breaks in. The recording light should stay on for about 30 seconds then after that it should start blinking fast, which means that is waiting for an event to happen.
Hi, I’ve been watching your videos for some time now, and I decided to buy my first dash cam (Viofo A129 Pro Duo). After using the dash cam for 3 weeks, and reviewing my test footage I have a question. What are the Pros & Cons of 4K30fps vs. 2K60fps, (when filming with a dash cam at daytime, and night time)? I asked because, when I review my test footage, and pause a video to read road signs, or license plates, I can’t tell the difference between 4K30fps, or 2K60fps. However, when I watch the video on playback, the 2K60fps is more appealing to my eyes. I also noticed the file sizes are almost identical between the two. I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this subject. -Chuck
Keep in mind even if you record in 4k, when you play it back on your computer (assuming the monitor has a resolution of 1920x1080 or perhaps 2560X1440), you are NOT viewing the 4K 3840X2160. Your monitor just doesn't have the resolution to play it natively. What you see on the monitor is downscaled resolution. To be honest unless we all own 4k monitors and TVs at home, recording in 4k is an overkill. Several years ago, many RUclipsrs brag about filming their videos in 4k, and these days many don't bother as viewers are not really reaping the benefit of that higher resolution. Put it this way, I have no problem running 1080P resolution on my dashcam which still yields very good detail. Another thing to keep in mind, not all dashcam with 4k, 2k, or even 1080 will yield sharp details. Some perform better than others. Lastly as to the file size being similar for 4k and 2k, I don't know what compression standard VIOFO uses for their video files.
@@dial2fast Thanks for the speedy reply. That makes perfect sense. So you mean those companies working on 8K cameras, and TVs are super duper overkill. Lol
@@dial2fast Respectfully, it isn't overkill. They aren't meant to be viewed for our enjoyment. it's a security measure. It's recording at levels that will still be at a higher, legible resolution when zoomed in to enable you to retrieve license plates.

@@dial2fast You are a saint lol thanx. I live in Europe and i did not have an option at blackboxmycar. I bought neo 6 on european cam site. i was thinking to ...
input cable neo6 in fusebox car
outputcable to viofo dashcam with female ciglighter adapter that came in the box with neo6.
Thanx for your time and i will look at your link.
In which fuse did you put the red and in which the yellow?
.Thank you.
How do I know if my parking mode is recording if then the power is off. And where are the files for parking mode kept! I’m asking because I just had my dash cam installed and i came seem to get the parking mode to work…it’s the one feature I wanted! Thanks for your help.
i have a 2018 compass trailhawk , not sure what size fuse.
So the yellow one is the acc+ only turns on when the ignition is turned on to the on position? And the red wire goes to constant 12v which is always on?
Yss
well done video! thank you
So if I don't want to use parking mode and want to be absolutely sure this will not drain any of my battery, what are my options? I don't see that viofo offered a 2 wire kit and I do not want to just turn off parking mode on the camera. Can you safely crimp the red and yellow wires into the same tap and plug into a fuse that's only on when the car is turned on?
I have the same question. I've read on a dashcam forum that it's not recommended to tie the red & yellow wires together. It might be possible to connect just the yellow (ACC) wire to switched battery and leave the red wire unconnected as red is only used for Parking Mode power.
The direction of the fuse tap matters, but it's unclear how that determination is made. Can you clarify?
Great question. You can find that specific information at 5 minutes and 25 seconds in this video. ruclips.net/video/4WImyAtwuF4/видео.html
Do both red and yellow wires tap into 12v constant?, How can you tell if they are constant 12v, it only says how many amps?
0:59
AMAZING video !! Thanks
You are the best!
What’s the recommended setting for the parking mode I just leave it in auto detection
Please let me know the amperage of the fuse to be installed in the upper slot of the fuse tap for dash cams in general and wolfbox i07 in particular. Thanks in advance.
5A or 10A fuse. Either will work fine.
can you use this with out using the red wire, like say i only wanted to wire it up with ignition on only?
Yes you should be able to so the dashcam is hardwired for ignition power only (no parking recording).
when you turn off the ignition and it is connected to a battery in parking mode, should a red light flash on the camera? How do you know it is in parking mode?
@dial2fast can you please answer this question
I have this same question. When in parking mode should there be any red leds on?
Once you turn the car off, there should be two lights on. 1 is for the mic/audio and the other one is the recording light.
After you turn the car off about 30 seconds later that recording light should start blinking fast which means is working properly in parking mode.
Do you have to set the parking mode with the ignition on? I tried to set it with the key off (red power only), and it resets back to the off position.
Interesting ! I've understood better how I have to set my HK4 kit with my fuse box.
So when you start driving, does the Viofo switch to normal mode, or do you still have to disable parking mode manually ? Thanks for the video.
Yes it switches to normal recording once you start the car.
@@dial2fast Can you easily disable parking mode so when you're parked in your garage at home overnight and dont need it or do you have to go into the menu manually each time you want it off and on?
@@Quozl You have to disable it in the menu.
@@Quozl I think there is a fast way, you can unplug USB to de-energize the dashcam whenever you park in the garage
@@Quozl I stop recording and power it off before I turn off the ignition.
need help asap.
So sorry for the issue. Has the problem been solved? If not, please open a ticket on our official website to get help.
Just got the A129 Plus Duo and judging from the footage, looks like the parking mode stopped at about 4/5 hours in, on parking mode. There was a mix of normal video and time lapsed footage. I'm guessing I only lasted 4/5 hours because it drained my cars battery?
Yes
Yes, maybe it reached the cut off voltage. Or maybe the settings are not properly set.
can i use a obd to usb adapter instead? Will park mode work with that one?
If I understand correctly, this device interprets the voltage coming from ACC (or not) and then signals the camera to go into parking mode while still providing power? I already have an always-on USB power source that I'm running this camera from - is there no way to just manually tell the camera to enter parking mode? It is receiving power when my car is off. This video is great but I'm pretty disappointed to find I'll have to spend more time and money to use one of the camera's advertised features.
Thank you. I have like your page and save your video.
Can you connect this to a external battery like you did with the Thinkware U1000 and the ivolt 50?
Just to clarify, if I want to use the parking mode, left over night, set on 12 v the camera would automatically turn off, so not to drain the car battery, roughly how long does it record b4 it turns off, I really like this can, but want to know everything about it
To transfer files to mobile phone, would I need to bring the unit inside to do that, as I'm not sure if my WiFi would work in my driveway, I'm hoping this is a simple process, would a Bluetooth device be better, and what is the length range for Bluetooth to work
Sorry for these questions, I'm not at all tech savvy, so any information would be appreciated.
@@dial2fast I see. I didn't think there was anything relevant on the panel. Thanks for confirming that.
Does your dash cam still hold up in the dotted shade area after few months? Are those dots raised a bit or are they totally flat?
So I'm thinking more of a connection or configuration error.
what fuse do you put into the empty slot? I saw its red but you did not mention it at all.
The dash camera draws less than 1 amp. So you can put a 5A or 10A fuse. Both will work fine.
@@dial2fast Thanks for the fast reply!
Can I use a different hardware kit??? I bought the PLOZOE one
is the hardwire kit necessary to run the parking mode ?
Yes
I bought the VIOFO Hardwire kit with the A-139 Pro. I had a company install the camera and it's powered via the rear view mirror power ports. I had a custom cable made for the camera and my radar detector. My question is this. I can't view any parkig mode photos. If the company installed the camera properly, will the camera show the power buttons are illuminated 24/7? As is is now, when I turn the truck off, none of the lights on the camera are on.
My guess is it's not wired for parking mode recording. It's only wired for 12V ignition. So it records when you drive.
@@dial2fast You're so right. I opened up the camera box yesterday and found the Hardware kit. I guess it's not a big deal either way. Thank you for the reply.
Is the a pillar trim on the pathfinder easy to pull out? Thinking of installing one on mine. Thanks
Yes easy to pull out. Held in by couple of plastic clips.
thank you, this is very helpful :)
Which parking mode did you end up using?
Thanks
I used the collision detection. But if you want constant recording, then time-lapse is also a good option.
do you know how to add an on/off switch box to that setup? I would like to be able to turn off the camera completely when the car is in the garage instead of turning off the park mode in options each time.
You can put an on/off switch on the constant 12v wire. Once you turn off the constant power, it will shut the dashcam off.
@@dial2fastI'm totally green in the subject. if I connect the on/off box to the constant 12v fuse socket won't the camera still turn on on the parking mode? I once saw a similar setup but it only used one fuse. does it make sense to set it up that way? are there any downsides?
Hello is the wire kit long enough for if your battery and fuses are located in your trunk
the kit is 3m long
Thanks for the review and the explanations :-)
If you hardwire this camera but disable parking mode, will the camera basically turn off when ignition off and not drain the battery?
Yes you are correct.
What's the fuse reading for 2017 Sienna? Is it possible to omit fuse tap?
I owned a simple hardwire kit from viofo and I managed to convert it into lighter socket, this way I was able to plug two A119 cameras into one kit.
Is it possible to do the same with this one?
Which parking mode options would you suggest works best for condo underground overnight parking? Thanks!

Yes, install the hardwire kit, and don't turn on parking mode in the setup menu.
What is the second wire you used the 2 in 1
How is it called
I've seen so many VDO clips to demonstrate the wiring methods. You're the best I've chosen as it's very simple and easy to follow. The fuse box of my Toyota Yaris Hatch 2014 is in the engine compartment. How can I run it through because the fuse box has a lid to completely cover it? Many thanks.
I have the same problem with my 2014 Skoda Octavia. I will let you when I come across any suggestions 👍
hi, do we need to do anything about the ground wire?
The ground wire need to be connected to a chassis ground bolt in the vehicle.
@@dial2fast ok. thank you.
What amp fuse did you use in the fuse tap? Was a bit hard tell from the video sorry
You can put in a 5A or 10A fuse for the dashcam.
Does parking mode work with the rear camera?
I have bought a hardware kit to make the camera work while the car is off and make it a recording while in motion only, but I want to make it work like a normal dash cam while the vehicle is moving. How do I switch between the two modes?
If you bought the Viofo hardwire kit and wired or properly, then just need to turn on the parking mode and select the appropriate options and it should work. It should automatically switch between parking mode and normal mode
Can i use this with other brand cam recorder??
Hi I park my car on a Busy street what is the best time lapse to conserve Space
If you want continuous recording and save space, then go with Low Bitrate recording. Keep in mind, the parking mode will shut down once it reaches the battery cutoff voltage to conserve car battery. So don't think parking mode will run for days.
Thank you I appreciate you
What is the best time lapse recording on the menu
Can we see it on An app
Wicked video thanks mate, I've just installed mine and when I leave the car the recording light and mic light stay on 24/7 is this normal ? Thanks 👍🏽
The mic light is normal since you need audio just in case someone breaks in. The recording light should stay on for about 30 seconds then after that it should start blinking fast, which means that is waiting for an event to happen.
Hi,
I’ve been watching your videos for some time now, and I decided to buy my first dash cam (Viofo A129 Pro Duo).
@@dial2fast
Thanks for the speedy reply.
That makes perfect sense. So you mean those companies working on 8K cameras, and TVs are super duper overkill. Lol
@@PanzerPlatform Well I welcome new technology but I also know companies have to come up with new S#&T to sell you.
What about the time lapse recording
@@dial2fast Respectfully, it isn't overkill. They aren't meant to be viewed for our enjoyment. it's a security measure.
It's recording at levels that will still be at a higher, legible resolution when zoomed in to enable you to retrieve license plates.
What about the rear camera? How many fuse taps is needed for duo camera?
The power to the rear camera is supplied via the the front camera. So you only need the fuse tap for the front camera.
Can i have it set to time lapse and buffered event recording
