- The latest Xbox news is a bunch of Game Pass changes that are just the beginning. Seeing the Xbox Game Pass price increase didn't surprise me, but it was changes to the tiers and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is now the only way for new customers to get day and date releases on Game Pass.

Glad to see you back lono. Hope your vacation was good. Personally I’m not a fan of the whole forcing people to ultimate to get day 1 games. I was hoping they would go the ps plus premium route. On top of what’s already there they could have introduce trials, maybe early access to the cod campaign, and maybe the older ABK library. I’ll also say if the price goes any higher I’m probably gonna drop it.

The reason why these companies remove features from lower tiers and raise prices is because they know people will upgrade to the better tier to get the features they started with back. Simple way to stop this is to stop upgrading to the next tier or unsubscribe all together
I'm pretty sure the price per month will go up again at some point. That'll be fun to watch 😄😄😄
I wonder why the regulators didn’t try to stop the abk acquisition? They should have known ms would raise prices and screw over their customers. How could the regulators allow this to happen?
Nothing regulators can do xbox needs to make a profit they are not obligated to sale you a product at a lose.
@@stewarde17 I can see you’re not that bright. Smh there was no reason why ms needed to buy Bethesda or abk. You were getting the same games anyway Xbot. Now you’re getting the same games for more money and lesser quality. Also thousands of people who were employed are now fired. Of ms had 100 percent exclusivity it would be a lot worse for you than it is now. Gamepass might be 40 or 50 dollars a month. I guarantee you they would not sell call of duty you would only be able to play it on gamepass. That’s what they really want to do. And console gamers the most loyal got the shaft the worse. Price will go up again soon. Smh
As far as I am concerned, the Xbox Game Pass changes are too much. Because... [1] People are hurting economically. It's the wrong time to increase prices (especially so soon). [2] Game Pass PC has Day One Releases. There needs to be a comparable console-only Tier that also includes Day One Releases without going to Ultimate. [3] Phil Spencer said there would be no price increases, particularly in the FTC hearings. This is a slap in the face. But I get the impression that with the heavy investment into the Xbox division, Phil has less control and Satya Nandella and the CFO and board are getting more involved and dictating many of the recent changes and direction. Maybe it was not such a good thing for Xbox to gain more of a profile on Microsoft's radar. They are probably not the independent side division they once were and will never be again. But, if Microsoft doesn't increase prices again for at least 3 to 5 years I could live with:
- Game Pass Core = Xbox Network + Back Catalogue + Deals @ $9.99 per month (or $69.99 Annually)
- Game Pass Standard = Xbox Network + Back Catalogue + Day One Releases + Deals @ $14.99 per month
- Game Pass PC = Back Catalogue + Day One Releases + Deals + EA Play @ $12.99 per month (or $11.99 for now)
- Game Pass Ultimate = Combination of Game Pass Standard & Game Pass PC + Cloud Gaming + Perks @ $19.99 per month
Only Ultimate would include Cloud gaming natively. I would then create Xbox Cloud Gaming as a separate item that could be added to either Core, Standard, or PC for $1.99 extra per month. Bottom line: There needs to be a Tier for console that includes Day One Releases without having to go to Ultimate (where console gamers are paying for PC access and Cloud gaming they may not want or ever use).
I just stacked 35 months. I got 3-month cards at 31$ for ultimate. I play on PC only.

The games they have I'd be more likely to buy a game from them every 6 years and not every year. Gamepass is a solid service but I'm not sure about $20 a month. I may stick around, but $24 a months and I'm definitely out. I only have two subs at this point and I'm down to go down to 1
Game Pass core and Playstation plus essential should be free to all players. The lowest tiers should always be free. Gamers really need to break the risk of both Microsoft and Sony and say enough is enough I refuse to pay for the lowest tier it's time to make the lowest tears of service free to all gamers. If you're on PC you only pay one provider for internet service but if you're on Console you paid two different providers for the same internet service on your console. I think it's time for gamers to realize that the time of charging us for low tier service is over.
Not that simple for one you pay more for a pc, pc able to store more data and you are responsible for the safety of your data. Unlike on console where device is sold at a lost, most of the data is server side and ps/xbox is liable for people information. Also steam get there money in other ways like letting anyone publish games for a fee or surcharging purchases. End of the day gaming is not a right it a luxury if you don't want pay for convenience then buy a pc and deal with the issues they have.
If you don’t like it, go the PC route, you are very free to do so. Sony and MS don’t owe you or anyone free stuff, you choose to participate or not their system
Online play should be free like PC. They don't need to give me free games. I buy everything that I decide to play. Not a fan of subscription services in general.

@@stewarde17 yet I'm asking only for Game Pass core and PlayStation Plus essential to be free, because these are lowest tiers, these tiers u are basically paying for Internet service not much else, even though u r already paying to ur internet providers. Here's the interesting part if you want to upgrade and pay for huge libraries of games, then that's all up to you, but, for people who want to buy their games and not pay extra for internet service on their console makes more sense, and this basically saves money for gamers especially for gamers who live on a tight budget on both Xbox and PlayStation. This is the advantage PC has over console yes buying a PC is more expensive but it's worth it in the long run especially since you don't have to pay double just for Internet, Sony and Microsoft are the biggest scammers of all time and you're just letting them run all over you. Internet is not free, I get that, but you shouldn't be paying both Microsoft and Sony any money just to have access to your console and the games that you bought on those consoles and be locked out of it the moment that you miss one payment on the lowest tiers of service. Maybe next-gen consoles would be a lot more successful if they actually made the lower tier free and these companies would earn their money from people buying their games in Game Pass core and PlayStation Plus essential like how steam does, without being locked out of their consoles on a paywall.

Microsoft can say its not due to ABK and they were always going to raise prices like this.
Individual game prices not going to be static forever can see xbox price ceiling raising soon, but say Gamepass is at 3.5 games per annum is good value especially now can see new studios IP'S coming in, but for me it's day and date ultimate, if 30 a month I'll probably be out.

There alot of assumption there when those games coming out because if the cadence is anything like been the rest of this generation you will be lucky to see half those games by 2028 and even if you do in what status will they be in? Also what is say they won't raise price again when gears comes out? Already raised it 2 year in a row both years offering the buyer less.

@@barrymurray4923 ya some those will be about 10 years some even 15. In mean time ps will pick them from the bargain bin. If they don't end up on ps+ a year later
Nobody (except fanboys of course) is blowing the price increase out of proportion. The price going up is something everybody knew was going to happen. The discussion isn't about the price increase itself. It's that MS is locking day one games behind the most expensive tier while increasing the standard tier price but taking day one away, not the price increases themselves. Lono literally said that game pass is still a great deal at $20.
I think $20 for game pass ultimate is a great value, but I will never sign up for it. My access to games being completely dependent on giving money to a company in perpetuity is just something that does not personally appeal to me.
