Hi, just to say thank you for doing this blog as it has been very helpful to a 60 year old man who is not the most technical minded. I read on peoples comments that they had issues with not being able to adjust the volume, however I have just ordered the self same converter with a volume control built into it.
You're very welcome, Michael! Thanks for the comment. I think the ability to adjust volume and so on depends on combination of the converter and the Bluetooth speaker itself. I haven't seen any issue with the BT speakers I've used (JBL, LG...). Hope all will work well for you!
This is the best explanation I have ever heard on this subject. It is very good that you mentioned that with this setup it will no longer be possible to control the volume with your tv or cable remote. On another matter, I connected a usb with an mp4 file and had sound from the tv BEFORE I used the converter but not after.
I'd recomend gaming headset or headphones with built in volume control so you can control the volume. The TV doesn't control audio output levels so it will be maxed out on headphones without an amp or its own volume controls.
Th lack of common sense and utter greed by these companies is a catastrophe, my tv has no headphone jack, nor does it have bluetooth either, just wifi so you can purchase their branded wifi sound bar.
Hey Edward - yes, you can connect your wired headphones just like I'm doing it in this video with a 3.5 mm cable. Which TV do you have? If it doesn't have 3.5 mm output, then you need the adapter that I show in this video.
@@TVguyDarko awesome thanks. I saw in the video. Just wanted to make sure. I have a Samsung smart tv 2020 version I believe. And it doesn’t have a AUX / 3.5m. Was trying to figure out a way. This is better cause I was thinking maybe I’ll have to buy a soundbar with a aux in the back of it. Wireless headphones cost a lot and I’m not a fan of wireless headphones. Rather use wired. Thanks again! Love the video!!
Hey Caroline! If your TV has Bluetooth built in, then all you need to do is start pairing and go to TV’s audio option to see Bluetooth options/audio output selection.
Thanks for the video! I have a followup question I hope you can help with: when sending audio to headphones via the optical port like you demonstrate, are the built-in speakers on the TV still active (or is there a setting to make them active)? I need the ability to output sound over optical AND play sound through the built-in speakers at the same time. Some newer TVs are (maddeningly) designed in a way that disables the TV speakers when the optical port is used. (An example of this being a problem is when a hearing impaired person would like to use analog headphones while other people in the room would like to hear the program normally through the TV speakers.) Some TVs have an accessibility setting for "muti audio output" but I don't know about Samsung. Thanks...
I bought this DAC and it works on my old tv but for some reason it doesn't work on my new 4k tv. What am I doing wrong? I checked all audio settings and changed to optical and PCM but it doesn't help.
Hello, little bit off topic but i see you have the Marshell speaker, i am looking to buy one but cant seem to find a straight answer about latency. In some places i read that if you connect it via bluetooth or even cable the audio is great and everything but if you play a video the audio is out of sync. The speaker would take a split second to process the info its getting and would always be late playing the audio compaired to the video you are seeing. Have you gotten this problem ?
Hey, I haven't experienced that on my model. The cause might be the source as that's what I was experiencing with Bluetooth speakers and some Android TVs.
I did everything you suggested (thanks!), and it works. However the volume of audio coming through is extremely low. I have tried 3 different sets of headphones -- nothing helps. Any thoughts?
remember this works...BUT... and this is HUGE! You can not and do not have a way to adjust the volume. That's why this is demonstrated with an Amp. with adjustable volume control. This will not work for headphone users that wish to adjust volume levels...
That's what I have discovered, thanks. I will probably need to buy a portable amplifier or soundbar with a 3.5 mm port. What still puzzles me, though, is why there is an arbitrary default level which makes the "unadjusted" volume so ridiculously low that you can barely hear it through the headphones.

Late to the show, but this helped me. I wasn't aware of the product, and your video solved the mystery! Take a like & subscribe!
Thanks for watching! Yes, it’s a cool product that solves it!

Is there any audio delay when you are using these devices?
The lack of volume on remote is a disaster

I've a quality DAC - SMSL SU8 but it doesn't work with my TV for some reason. I only hear distorted sound. I'll give it another go with a cheap DAC..
great video!! could I use my wired headphones? I dont like using bluetooth and want to connect my wired headphones instead.. would this work?

You've got amazing knowlwdge listed here.
Will this work for connecting bluetooth headphones and how would you do that and what would I need

You are not the first one who asked me that - I definitely need to check it on my TU7000.

You completely forgot about HDMI Arc to analog audio conversion! That is a second way to convert audio...
Thanks! Will test it and make a new video!

Doesn't work. My tv doesn't have an optical and it's new
These T'Vs don't seem very smart...
Agree.
Thanks!!!!
Didn't show how-to connection from back of tv
On the TV I've only used optical cable (Toslink) to connect the converted.
tv spkrs sound better,,,, will go inside and snip out spkrs,,, use class a ext amp and real spkrs,,, full analog...
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why all that hassle? Just connect your TV and the Stanmore II speakers trough bluetooth that works perfectly fine!
The hassle is for Samsung TV owners that don’t have Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is a recent feature to most TV's. Not available on most older than a few years.
yeah would be great if my tv had bluetooth!
Dont bye this shit
