I read all the comments on both video and don't think I saw where you got your sheet aluminum. I think you said it in the other video but I couldn't catch what you said. Where did you get sheet aluminum?

I'm in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota, and I purchased mine at Midwest Steel & Aluminum in Rogers, MN. But you should be able to get it at most steel supply companies near your city.

Thanks Rollie! Very helpful for project I am considering. Interested in your opinion: I see that you stopped your 3rd log at the front of engine pod. I had wanted to run the 3rd log as far back as possible to increase planing surface. Are you happy with your placement, or do you wish the planing surface extended further aft? Thanks!

      Stony,
I did consider running the pontoon all the way back to include an integrated transom and motor mount. The cost was not a lot more, but my main concern was not really performance, but increased bow buoyancy.
I also did not really want to deal with taking the motor off and remounting it so I opted for the “sport,” or “performance” style.
If your looking to handle more horse power and speed, it might be worth looking into a fully integrated pontoon/transom.
I got mine at billsboatstuff.com. He’s in central Missouri. Good luck!

I'm considering adding a sport pontoon as well. My fuel tank is in the transom pod so I would have to take that into consideration if I tried to replace. just wanted to mention that in case you have the same situation.

Looks like a very good upgrade for less than half a poly toon kit. Do you see noticeable improvement when the boat is fully loaded?

Sorry for the late reply…To answer your question, YES! The improvement in speed is minimal-only a couple mph increase. The ride, however is noticeably better. More stable, better cornering, smoother ride, and most noticeably, absolutely no submarining, which was my biggest issue on the river.

Where did you get the third pontoon from? I've been looking at the poly tubes but $4500 seems a bit high. Thanks

Most people that get on a pontoon want to sit upfront. Did adding this third toon prevent you from pushing water rather than riding on top of it and keep the bow level with people up front? I have a 22’ with a 115 and have debating doing this for years.

John, Do it!! That’s the same setup I have. It has made a remarkable difference for my boat. The bow buoyancy has greatly improved and I went from regularly submarining in the wakes of large cruisers to never having an issue.
