Update: the 3/8” U- bold did snap, which luckily caused no damage. I did replace it with the planned 1/2” U-Bolt and it is very solid. Go with 1/2”!

Great job ,but the video title is Add a Third Pontoon and it starts out with the tube already on the boat. Then the video deals with the undersheeting install. I love the idea and you did a great job, but i would like more info on where you sourced the pontoon itself, and maybe it's installation. Thanks.

Sorry about the title, The video was bad for the 3rd log install.

great video. looking to add a sport pontoon myself. can't wait to watch the other videos. I think the voice overs work out better sometimes because you cover all the key points that you see in the video that you might not have commented in actual video.

Hope you make another video going over some of the differences in handling, performance, and ride now that you’ve had some time out on the water with the third log.

Just an FYI, I did add an additional update video a few months ago. Thanks!

Nice work. Curious where you sourced the 3rd log and if you looked at the poly kit.

I got the log from billsboatstuff.com in Salem, MO. It was quite a bit less than the poly option and I like the looks of it better.

Where did you get 3rd log

How did you determine the length of the center toon you added and how far forward of the center pod for the engine did you mount it? I would really like to do something like this on my boat.

There are a few recommendations out there, but it seemed pretty standard to have 6’ from the prop to the back of the center log. In my case, that was 15’ 10” from the front of the deck. I was lucky to find a 15’ 9” log at billsboatstuff.com in Missouri. I did need to cut off about 5” of the front of the motor pod. Essentially, it was the end of the “point” of the motor pod.

I would like to know why you decided to go with a poly instead of an aluminum pontoon

      Randy,
I put the boat in the water for the first time this past weekend. Still a lot of stuff floating around in the river at this time, so I was not able to fully compare, but so far:
      - I seem to have gained maybe about 2 mph.
      - Seemed much faster “out of the hole”
      - Seemed to corner much better. Boat banked into turns rather than “plowed” around the turns. I suppose you’d call that better handling.
      - Much much quieter ride. Could not hear waves slapping the bottom of the boat at all.
We did not have a lot of large yacht traffic during our outing, so we’ll have to wait a few weeks to see if the huge wakes that created such a problem in the past have found a remedy.
