It's my favorite restaurant in disneyland, for the food as much as for the atmosphere. I really love in general exotic spicy food, green lemon, fish etc so it makes sense. In comparison I find chez Rémy really classical, like I could get exactly the same meal in any restaurant close to my house. Also I think if you want the best experience, à la carte is really better than the menu, but really more expensive too.
I wanted to eat here when we go on our trip but I don’t think the variety isn’t very good and to be honest the fact that I would struggle to see my food puts me off a little too.
Thanks Sam, really informative vlog about the restaurant, enjoyed it so much. I always respect your honesty & hearing your thoughts. Its not actually somewhere I would go to dine as I'm a real plain eater but I really love the theming and atmosphere you get in there :) x
I visited in February 2020 and really liked it. I loved the musicians in the waiting area, being Irish and from a family of musicians, it felt very comforting to listen to traditional music ☺️ Really enjoyed the Coconut bread and the veggie options. The rice pudding dessert was delicious. I can't wait to go back
This is why I love your videos Sam! I’ve been debating booking this restaurant for my family trip in October but heard mixed reviews I think I would definitely appreciate the theming but will stick to the ride instead. Always insightful videos! Thank you
Glad you found it useful 🙏🏼 I agree, it’s only really worth it if you really love the food. The atmosphere is awesome, but not too dissimilar to just going on the ride x
Thanks for your comprehensive review, really enjoyed it! I never had such gross food in a theme park than in Captain Jack's. In my opinion it is well below any standard. And agreed, the food comes way to quickly, within 45 minutes we had all 3 dishes. I will never return here.
This is a restaurant I debated about going to during our vacation but decided against it based on the menu. Thanks for your video. Now I know what I missed!
Wife got food poisoning from here during our April trip and we got sat towards the back, so not near the water unfortunately. Won’t be eating here again after that but glad we got to at least experience it.
Hi Sam!! I had dinner at Captain Jack's on my visit last June. I agree with you, it's sooooo dark 😁 but at the same time so much thematic! Has a great atmosphere, both ride & dinner! We really feel in the caribbean, in Pirates' World! The food was very good (but not the BEST... Remy's is still my favourite...). We were 4 so we managed to try almost everything, ordering different menus. And we stayed near the water (yes!!!! the sound and the smell... amazing!) so my littlest one spent the entire dinner waving to people passing by 🙃... It was an amazing experience!!
I’ve booked this restaurant for my 26th birthday on September 20th! I’m so excited to eat here! Thank you Samar for giving me a few ideas of the lovely dishes to try 🥰
I'm a massive Pirates of the Caribbean fan, and Captain Jack made me love Johnny Depp as well, so we were super excited to eat here during Pride this year. I wasn't interested in the meal plan options, so I went with the beef stew with mashed sweet potatoes. The stew was very delicious and I really enjoyed it. The mash was a bit too buttery and bit gluey, but mixed nicely with the stew. My sister and friend went with the meal plan. We sat at the top level at the edge, so we had nice views without all the people walking back and forth, which was super nice. :) Loved all the posters too!
Our favourite restaurant in Disneyland Paris!! Absolutely love it here, have never had a bad meal in it and can't wait to go back sometime next year. Service has always been excellent for us in here as well. So much better than Chez Remy, used to love it as well but we had my big birthday in it last year, service was woeful and the steak was the chewiest thing I've eaten in a long time.
I went there for my 30th birthday this year and I LOVED everything! The food was great (if you like that style of food) the staff was nice. I didn’t have a problem seeing the menu or my food as far as I recal. But to be fair, I am so baised because I love everything that have to do with piraters (not just the movies. Just everything pirat-y haha)
It would be my dream to eat there one day, I love the attraction so much! Hopefully will somehow get a booking there someday haha. Thanks for this amazing and super helpful video!!
I'm looking forward to the meal plan video... We're likely to do it but I don't think it is a cost saving more convenient to not constantly be paying for things x
Thanks for the review Sam. Not somewhere I think I would enjoy eating at, the dark lighting would put me off too. Can you do another review of chez remy? Which other sit down restaurants would you recommend? Trying to decide where to eat when I go
Lovely vid! Never been, the atmosphere looks lovely but the food doesnt really sound like my thing. I have a meal plan for October & have booked Pym, Manhattan, Downtown & Walts…
Thanks for another great video Sam! I have a reservation in September for my 30th birthday! (Love that it’s the same time as DLPs 30th birthday 🤣) I am a fussy eater so hoping I enjoy!
I've been wanting to eat here ever since I was small and I will finally have the chance to do so this month 🥰 So excited! Thanks for your in-depth videos!
Fab video Sam. I have never eaten in Captain Jack's and as much as I like the look of the atmosphere as u are right by the ride, the menu unfortunately doesn't appeal to me at all. But you doing these videos is brilliant because it gives a honest view to the restaurant and it helps people decide if its for them
Hi Sam only just discovered your channel loving it you are such a happy person and it couldn't be more apt I am currently watching your disneyland paris vlog I am thinking of going next year never been before could you recommend where the best place to get park tickets thankyou x
I'm planning my trip to Disney on your videos only haha, May i ask you i question ? , i'm trying to book a good restaurant but somehow from the Disneyland app they are all fully booked no dates available . Is there anywhere or way i can book or maybe check availabilities.
I won’t be able to watch this until later this evening but just wanted to say that I can’t wait to watch!! I visited Captain Jack’s in March and whilst I LOVED the theming (Jack is one of my all time faves) the food was quite disappointing - I think this is only because it’s not my sort of food, but I won’t be in a rush to eat there again unfortunately. If I do go back, it’ll be solely for the theming and atmosphere of it, but I feel like you can get that while riding Pirates so 🤷🏻♀️
Did you make the meal plan video Sam? We have bought it for the first time (half board) and I’ve heard some people it covers the full cost of a ‘meal plan menu’ but others say you have to pay over €30
I went here late July and we were lucky enough to get a table right next to the ride! That was a lot of fun. I had the chicken and prawn dish and my brothers both had the beef. It was nice but for €30 odd euros I’m not sure whether I’d go again. Bistrot chez remy was our favourite
Another great video, Sam! Heading back to DLP in October, could we have a video on your opinions on the top places to eat, quick service and sit down, please? 😁
Thanks for this Sam, just in time for my trip in a few weeks and I have a reservation actually! I was hoping to just get drinks and a starter - do you think that should be okay or will that be an issue?
Haha we actually booked this restaurant as you seemed to enjoy it so much in your last video 😂 so I was astonished at how dark it was! I too had to use my phone torch to see the menu. I enjoyed the food but agree quite expensive for what it is.
Hi Sam, thanks for the videos. My family will be going in December and you have helped me so much with our planning. You said this isn’t one of your favorites. Which restaurant would you recommend?
I had my birthday lunch here back in October and it was good, but definitely not the best meal I had during my trip. I love the vibe of the restaurant though since Pirates has always been my favorite ride.
Hi Sam! thank you for a great video again! I wanted to ask you- I'm going to Disneyland Paris with 2 of my friends in September and we tried booking a restaurant, but everything is already booked 2 months in advanced :( did we completely lost our chances to go? or is there a way we can still make it work? Thank you!
Aww Sam I'm at disneyland paris right now I did the ride a couple of times each day wish I'd seen you I ate at the restaurant once loved the theming but not the food which was a shame xx
hi Sam!! Great video!! could you possibly please do a video on the check in process at st pancras station to disney? Im going with my family in october and we are unsure of anything we will need regarding covid vaccinations or proof of a negative test. We have been lots of times to disney but this is our first trip after flying from the last few times and my mum is wondering how the process works! sorry if that’s a big ask, we love your videos and hope to hopefully bump into you in the parks one day❤️- thank you :)
Capt. Jacks is the only restaurant in DLP that we've never eaten at.....yet. My other half is not a seafood fan but now there's a bigger variation of meats now, we'll definitely be reserving a table for our next visit. (Hopefully near to the ride). The theming here is fantastic.
I was excited the first time I heard about this place because Blue Bzyou at Disnryland in California is one of my favorite places. But the food here at captain jack seems boring and uninteresting to me. I want a surf and turf, filet and shrimp or lobster. Also the desserts seem terrible
Hey Sam! Me and my mom are going to Disneyland In September, and we have been trying too find out how much our “food coupons” from the half-standard pension are worth.. Will they cover a meal at remy’s or at jacks? Hopefully you can answer, because we can’t find anything anywhere :((
We love to go to captain Jack's because in our opinion it is the best in time of atmosphere, I like the food, it's not my favorite but I love the island rice pudding. The best dessert in DLP. SAM we need to talk.... Where did you get this hat???? I need one 😁
Thank you Sam for your review. We (my family and I) think this is the worst restaurant in Disneyland Paris. For the same money you eat like a chef in Bistrot Chez Rémy, but tastes differ per person
I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago. It was really hot that day and I was really happy to have a sit down meal. Couldn’t finish the food because I have trouble eating when it’s really hot. Still had a really good experience, I sat at the exact same table as you did the previous video so that was really nice!
We ate back in 2018 and I agree with everything you say, the atmosphere is amazing cast members were lovely, but the food just ok and my son actually only ate his dessert as the food options for kids were quite adventurous to say the least 🙈
Thanks so much, Sam! We’ve actually cancelled our booking for here as I think it’ll just be too dark for our young daughter. And it’s good because we’ve got to book Walt’s instead!
There's a candle/wax melt made by a UK indie brand, Maple & Whiskey, called "Dead Men Tell No Tales" which has tried to replicate the smell of Bromine from the ride. Not for the faint of heart, as the brand says, but I really like it 🖤☠️
Hi Sam I’m planning to book auberge de cillion, downtown buffet, Walts and I’m stuck for a 4th option , what good one would you say I’m missing? 🎉🎠🍾🍿🎢🏰🐭🐭🐭
I visited the restaurant back in ... 2013? So nine years ago, and I had their - at the time - vegetarian options. I have no recollection of what I got, I think the main course had a bunch of different smaller dishes, but I'm not sure. I remember the food being really satisfying but mostly being in love with the atmosphere
Hi Sam, just wondering how you get a meal plan. I thought you could only get one if you have a Disney hotel package? As your an AP holder, I thought it would have been more cost effective to not book a package. Thank you for the video btw. I have a reservation at Captain Jack’s in September and was interested to see if it really was worth the hype or just to say I’ve been ☺️ x
Mine was a unique situation with the meal plan, as I originally had a Disney package booked for April 2022 that I wasn’t able to use to do a family emergency and Disney tried to help me move the package with that same price, and the best they could do was to add a meal plan to my package to make the value worth what I had originally paid for, if that makes sense. I accepted it, as I thought it would also be a good way for me to test the current meal plans and share my experience, as I get asked about them a lot ☺️ Generally speaking, I prefer the AP discount at restaurants, as it makes more sense for AP holders. Hope you enjoy xx
Unfortunately, I believe Karen is right. It’s one of the more popular restaurants, and loads of people with meal plans would want to eat there, so they can’t really prioritise people who only want a drink x
Love the atmosphere in this restaurant, its usually one of the 1st we aim for BUT as you have said its very dark. The fact we have to use our phones to see the menu like you is a pain. The other thing is because some of us are vegetarian and vegan it would be nice to have a choice of one more choice. Its not just Pirates alot of the restaurants only give one choice. Just wondering if you have seen anybody celebrate their Birthday here, or maybe another restaurant that you thought ws good?
I'll be coming to DLP in about a month and opted to pass on eating at Captain Jack's simply because the menu... didn't really sound exceptional to me. Coming from Texas, where we're close enough to the Caribbean to get these kinds of flavors fairly readily, means it's not something I'd fly all the way to Paris and spend the extra money on. Instead, since I won't have the opportunity elsewhere (literally just coming to France FOR Disneyland), I've opted to reserve at Bistrot Chez Remy, so I can get a bit of classic French cuisine. I do, however, really want to eat at the Blue Bayou at Disneyland California one day. Was born close to Disneyland and grew up going, but parents never took me to the restaurant, so it's on the list for the future, for sure, plus it's the original so it has that interest factor going for it =D
My first visit to Captain Jack's was back in May this year. It was a dream of my boyfriend and I to eat in this restaurant, since the pirates ride is one of our favorites. My boyfriend is a picky eater, so I was a bit scared he wouldn't like anything from the menu. But suprisingly he LOVED the food! This restaurant is great for its atmosphere, but I'm convinced the food is good too, it's just not for everyones taste. IMO Chez Rémy was terrible, I did not like the steak nor the soup... I want to give it a second chance tho!
We went to Pirates because it got such good reviews, but we were honestly disappointed. The taste wasn't that good and the chicken and fish were both very dry. It's unfortunate. We did love the ambiance of the restaurant tho.
We were beyond disappointed when my partner and I went, we chose it because of the ambience ( a little bit romantic with the low lighting ) and while we were dining the ride got shut down, all the lights got turned on and there was a cast member on the tannoy constantly… sadly it COMPLETELY ruined the experience at least for us but I suppose that’s the risk you take when eating at a restaurant within an attraction 🙁
I was contemplating whether to eat there or not....but decided no. I'm a dessert person and they had nothing on the dessert menu that I particularly liked. I look at desserts first and then see about the main course XD I'm gonna eat at Anette's instead (the Ben & Jerry Crepe caught my eye...or my stomach rather XD my two favorite flavors on a crepe? BRUV!!) I get the fruit thing sort of....for me it's fruits mixed in/with chocolate. Disgusting!
It's my favorite restaurant in disneyland, for the food as much as for the atmosphere. I really love in general exotic spicy food, green lemon, fish etc so it makes sense. In comparison I find chez Rémy really classical, like I could get exactly the same meal in any restaurant close to my house. Lovely vid! Never been, the atmosphere looks lovely but the food doesnt really sound like my thing. I have a meal plan for October & have booked Pym, Manhattan, Downtown & Walts…

@@Sam4G0d good to hear!

Thank you for this review, I'm hoping to visit in January and the food looks unique and could be something new to try
Thanks for watching :)
Hi Sam only just discovered your channel loving it you are such a happy person and it couldn't be more apt I am currently watching your disneyland paris vlog I am thinking of going next year never been before could you recommend where the best place to get park tickets thankyou x
Hi Sam ! Where did you buy your t-shirt and sulley hat?
I LOVE this restaurant. Even met Jack there before covid.. he stole my ring! haha I enjoy the food as well I like adventurous food
I used to go wih my familly at the " Chalet de la marionnette " when the pirate side was opened
my all time favourite disney restaurant
A meal plan guide would be amazing we go in April next year and would be great to hear what restaurant are worth going to as part of a meal plan.
I'm planning my trip to Disney on your videos only haha, May i ask you i question ? , i'm trying to book a good restaurant but somehow from the Disneyland app they are all fully booked no dates available . Is there anywhere or way i can book or maybe check availabilities.
Hi where can I get a Mickey watch from on line pls
I won’t be able to watch this until later this evening but just wanted to say that I can’t wait to watch!! Hey lovely. I'm going to Disneyland in Feb. My first ever time - I was wondering how the meal plan (standard) works especially on the last day
With thee all plan can one pay the cost difference and get other choices?
I went here late July and we were lucky enough to get a table right next to the ride! That was a lot of fun. I had the chicken and prawn dish and my brothers both had the beef. It was nice but for €30 odd euros I’m not sure whether I’d go again. Bistrot chez remy was our favourite

We love to go to captain Jack's because in our opinion it is the best in time of atmosphere, I like the food, it's not my favorite but I love the island rice pudding. The best dessert in DLP.
SAM we need to talk.... Where did you get this hat???? I need one 😁
Thank you Sam for your review. We (my family and I) think this is the worst restaurant in Disneyland Paris. For the same money you eat like a chef in Bistrot Chez Rémy, but tastes differ per person
Chez Remy is defo MILES better :)
I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago. It was really hot that day and I was really happy to have a sit down meal. Couldn’t finish the food because I have trouble eating when it’s really hot. Still had a really good experience, I sat at the exact same table as you did the previous video so that was really nice!
They have streamlined the menu since we went last which tbf was before covid
I am sure that even on a meal plan we got more choice 🤔
We ate back in 2018 and I agree with everything you say, the atmosphere is amazing cast members were lovely, but the food just ok and my son actually only ate his dessert as the food options for kids were quite adventurous to say the least 🙈

Yes :)
There's a candle/wax melt made by a UK indie brand, Maple & Whiskey, called "Dead Men Tell No Tales" which has tried to replicate the smell of Bromine from the ride. Not for the faint of heart, as the brand says, but I really like it 🖤☠️
i'm going to disneyland 22 23 24 september hope to see you there that would be nice👍😀
Ein wunderschönes Restaurant
Hi Sam I’m planning to book auberge de cillion, downtown buffet, Walts and I’m stuck for a 4th option , what good one would you say I’m missing? 🎉🎠🍾🍿🎢🏰🐭🐭🐭

"It's so dark"
* Keeps the hat indoors the whole time *
THanks for the video, though ^^
Haha trust me, the hat did not affect the darkness even a little bit. The restaurant is just dark and there is no light coming from above. X
Hi Sam, just wondering how you get a meal plan. I thought you could only get one if you have a Disney hotel package? As your an AP holder, I thought it would have been more cost effective to not book a package.

Can you go in and only have cocktails or dessert instead of a full sit down meal? I'd love to go for the atmosphere!
As far as I’m aware you have to have the meal.
You can’t just order drinks and dessert etc.
Unfortunately, I believe Karen is right. It’s one of the more popular restaurants, and loads of people with meal plans would want to eat there, so they can’t really prioritise people who only want a drink x
completely out of context but euhm, nice hat ;)
Thanks! 🤣💙
Hi Sam, if you put rice on the fish plate, the dish is even tastier.
I did after that first bite 🤗
Love the atmosphere in this restaurant, its usually one of the 1st we aim for BUT as you have said its very dark.

Was born close to Disneyland and grew up going, but parents never took me to the restaurant, so it's on the list for the future, for sure, plus it's the original so it has that interest factor going for it =D
i have never eaten at captain jack's i do want to go there at some point
Hi Sam ♡
This is the only pirates of the Caribbean ride which has a restaurant.
I’m doing well thanks
Are you in Disneyland paris on the 5 of August?
The best restaurant sure
We went to Pirates because it got such good reviews, but we were honestly disappointed. The taste wasn't that good and the chicken and fish were both very dry. It's unfortunate. We did love the ambiance of the restaurant tho.
Sadly agree with you, no food there has ever blown me away. The atmosphere is the main good thing about the place x
Hope I don’t step there on a bee or someone poops under my table 🙈
❤❤❤❤
We were beyond disappointed when my partner and I went, we chose it because of the ambience ( a little bit romantic with the low lighting ) and while we were dining the ride got shut down, all the lights got turned on and there was a cast member on the tannoy constantly… sadly it COMPLETELY ruined the experience at least for us but I suppose that’s the risk you take when eating at a restaurant within an attraction 🙁
Oh no! x
👍😎

Are you still at Disneyland?
I was contemplating whether to eat there or not....but decided no. I'm a dessert person and they had nothing on the dessert menu that I particularly liked. I look at desserts first and then see about the main course XD I'm gonna eat at Anette's instead (the Ben & Jerry Crepe caught my eye...or my stomach rather XD my two favorite flavors on a crepe? BRUV!!)
I get the fruit thing sort of....for me it's fruits mixed in/with chocolate. Disgusting!
