That’s incredible! It’s similar to Half Price Books that we have here but, they’re much much smaller and they only carry books, DVDs, CDs and albums, and games and puzzles. I wouldn’t know where to start in McKays! They need a coffee shop in there!
Hi, Tim! I love used bookstores. I'd rather read than eat, which is saying a lot! For years I told myself that I couldn't buy books because I didn't want to add anything more to my collection. However, I realized that if I just made sure that I was always unhauling some of my collection I was fine. I also love playing vinyl records. Thanks for showing McKay's. I'd enjoy that place for sure. Have a lovely day, Tim!
Holy cow! That place is huge. I loved seeing it. A place I could spend hours and not buy anything. But it would be time well spent. of course I wouldn't spend every day there, but a rainy day, yup.
Such a selection of books and everything else! Even if you did buy a book, you could always subscribe to a method of not getting it unless you make a point of "read and exchange"? That could be quite fun if you've got the time. Love the records too! We have a similar store in this area. You've just reminded me that I could unload a bunch of books and build up some credit there. Thank you, Tim! Hope you and everyone here has a wonderful day.
Grand Funk, now that is rock. I still listen to them and others from the late sixties and early seventies. Oh and the channel is good also, helps me to take better pictures and videos, because I'm not very good at taking good pictures.
Great place. Tour was fun too. Could have just kept eyeballing all there is to see. Lol. Grand Funk RR. Nice! We're an American Band is playing in my head now. 🎶
OH MY STARS! Lead me to the old books and come back to get me NEVER! They probably wouldn't even notice my sleeping bag under the album racks- right?! GRAND FUNK... I had the faces album- did they have the Phoenix album? I sketched the outlines, then embroidered that Phoenix onto the bottom of my hip hugger bell bottom jeans. (right leg). Did they have old Bibles there? Draw me a map & put out the Welcome mat- Tennessee here I come!
One day, I will take them my old CDs and LPs, which I no longer use thanks to Apple Music. We always enjoy walking around there but we rarely buy anything.
There is a store in Tupelo Ms that is like McKay’s. I’ve been to it a couple of times. Cool place to visit but I’m not looking to bring anything else home. 😊
@@Good-DaySunshine I didn’t take any pics. It was huge and you could definitely get lost in there. I’d like to see a pic of your hip huggers with the embroidered phoenix. They sound really cool. I had my share of hip huggers bell bottoms. I’ve never really been a dress girl. To this day at 66, I still mostly live in jeans. Levi’s 501’s has been my wardrobe staple for decades. I never embroidered my jeans, but I have a pair that I used crochet to cover some rips or holes. 😉
That seems like an interesting place. We had a place like that and when I brought some books in, they gave me 10 cents to 50 cents a book. I’m sure it’s more now? Anyway, grand funk brings me many memories…most times when I was traveling to and from school, I played my Grand Funk 8 track, I’m your captain….I’m getting closer to my home…🎼 Did you buy anything while you were there?
That place is huge. I would be walking around all day. Fun. Thanks Tim.

Every city needs a Mckays. What a lot of treasures. Can’t imagine how much money they have tied up in stock.
Nice clean, big and organized store. Joan
Our McKays closed quite a few years ago. I really miss it. As an English teacher, I shopped there often to build up my classroom library.
Looks like a cool place. Nothing like that where l live.😟
So cool!
Wow, that's a large store!
yes...so many opportunities to find stuff

Books don't count as clutter. Always useful. If not to read as a door stop or table leveler.
👍🏻COOL PLACE ! ! Wish it were Here. Do " 💜 " the Idea of McKay's " $ " or " 💸." Bet they Play some " Old "-Good Tune's in there. Thanx. 🙂
Oh I’d love that shop. I could browse all day in it. By the way liking the T-shirt instead of the shirt vibe. Suits you. 😊
Me too... All day and often 😊

No. No purchases. Just window shopping.
A good place to get lost.
