When I started with Ableton in May 2023, I only had the stock plugins. They still work. But yes, I extended my gear with Surge XT and Serum. But to be honest, Wavetable is a monster which serves you a lot of capabilities to create great sounds. I saw some videos where the dudes asked: What exactly bring those synths like Serum bring to the table what Wavetable can't? And this the point. In the end, these massive synths like Serum enhance your sounds. But for most of the sounds, Wavetable gives you enough power. By the way, great video.
Just a quick tip for the ones who don’t even know: If you want the pumping sidechain effect without using a sidechain compressor, just get the Autopan tool from ableton and turn Phase down to 0° I love your tutorials, thanks for that directly from Germany/Berlin
where in berlin? do you still making music?.... I'm kind of putting together a weekly meet up for Techno ,electronic producer where we can jam and share ideas or collaboration, hit me up if you want to be part of
Out of all the things that im happy or impressed with myself in terms of production is the fact i make profesionally sounding music and only using serum as an external plugin. Makes me kinda proud and this video is a great example of the what makes a good producer a great producer
Nice tutorial. Honestly I rarely use anything stock from Ableton besides eq 8 and echo/delay/reverb. Really nice to see you make an idea and show that no outside plug-ins are needed 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
Amazing video master! John Summit is the proof that this is worth trying out. He uses operator for almost all his basses, plus tons of ableton stock fx for mixing. Ableton has ugly plugins, but powerful af 🤣🔥
Excellent tutorial! I’ve come to learn a lot from Zen! To anyone into production and wanting a second opinion on their tunes, Zen does good feedback sessions!
909 is defo unreached for tha dance for sure, you shouldve added some groove swing thingy tho ! I feel like this is where it comes to life. Also man of culture I can tell 01:34 😁
Nice. Like week ago decided to pick up og push and deactivated plugin folders for proper test drive. New live has favorites folder now, and setting eq/comps/etc, goto samplepacks, synths there, results in a very nice kind of jammable workflow
I don't know if I'm tripping, but the 909 kit I have in my Ableton sounds nothing like yours, the kicks, hats, and claps are totally different. Is there a difference in kit samples between the different versions of live?
respect , but tech house is really easy to make and all u need is stock plugins and couple of layers, can you please make a tearout dubstep or a progressive house using ableton stock?
What's up Zen. Always watch your videos and you make everything seem so easy. One problem that I have is that I have Ableton Live 11 Intro, which only comes with 4 instruments not including any synths. How can I possibly make a bass pattern without creating a bassline from an instrument? Any recommendations of either free synths or how to use a bass sample ect
when i got to the part at 8:13 when he plays the bass with the drums, my drums were all running through the filters used for the bass, and it sounded like shit. how do i isolate them so the filters used in the bass don't override the filters i used for drums?
Hey Zen, recently I have been having trouble making basses in the style of digital koala. More specifically in the style of his songs "5G" and "Dish ya". Do u reckon u can help me out with this?
I believe one of the reasons for not using stock plugins is not because they aren't great (they are). Its to avoid sounding like everyone with a copy of ableton.
Use it to map various parameters to other parameters. For example, map the LFO to the filter cut off. This creates movement in the sound to bring it to life and make it more interesting.

bruh the stock ableton sounds are actually fire asf, way better than FL studio, idk why more people aren't using them
I know you weren't feeling it, but seriously this was great!
extremely helpful and showcasing the power of the suite itself, please do more of these!
I know almost nothing about music production and for me this song turned out so good 😂

Hey Zen, recently I have been having trouble making basses in the style of digital koala. More specifically in the style of his songs "5G" and "Dish ya". Do u reckon u can help me out with this?
Have you checked out his sample pack? Also Brosca’s? Checking out their patches might help. DM me and I’ll email them to you.

But even that fails because everyone is getting the same 3rd party plugins.
Amazing. !!!

Watch the movie bro. Just kidding no idea lmao
