- Turn the speakers up and watch and listen to Danny Webb circulate the Isle of Man TT course at this year's Classic TT aboard his Team Classic Suzuki RG500!
That’s 20 minutes of my life well spent. Grinning ear to ear. 👍
Ooo yess...it maybe overtaken by a newer version of racing bike ..but not without a serious crack of full engine power!!!!
Respect to the riders. The terrain is actual street not a track hence there are additional elements such as bumps, uneven roads.
Don't forget slippery road paint
Best ride of my life was on one of these to the 94 GP at Donnington, Schwantz inspired ride home one of many reasons I should not have survived my 20’s. I always preferred the look of the mk3 250 but the 500 was a far better ride, just needed more tyre even in standard form. Would love to know if E767 GTW is still out there and if so is it still running the Stan Stephens tune, all the barrels were vibro etched with details.
Love sound ❤❤❤
Is it just me that tilts their phone on the corners?
Je pensais une meilleur vitesse de pointe mais belle vidéo
Simplesmente FOD@!!!
30 years old machine still ran like no tomorrow. Music to my ears.
more like 40 years old!
@@rob11784 exactly mate. Good old days
Buzz killer..awesome
Danny is only 29. The closest comparison I can think of for skill, courage, speed, noise, age and almost inhuman concentration is a battle of Britain Spitfire pilot.
Exhilarating footage.
@Till This Day Yeah, I was thinking that as well. I bet there is not one single component on this bike that's anywhere near that age.
Wow that was bloody exausting !! TT riders without doubt should all be put put on a pedestal this is not just skill its mental focus, physical stamina then add to that a large portion of balls of steel then you might be close to how good these riders are. Nice on board footage.
@diferencial diferencial I am calm, I AM CALM, I AM !!!!! :)
A sport suitable for REAL MAN
Steel,,,, balls of industrial diamond more like.
What a battle!
Rokh &Roll you needed a smoke didn’t ya
Well done Danny, you had to work hard to keep that bike between 10000 and 11500 RPM.
Great ride, I don't know how you boys do it, you must have lighting fast reaction.
Good luck be safe.
Legends...if you've ever ridden the circuit at 'normal' speeds, you'll realize how amazing these racers are. The road surfaces are full of bumps, high winds and blinding sunlight round some of the bends...and that's on a dry day!
Man my hearts pounding just watching!! These guys are fearless!!
Bring back the 2 strokes. They look mega and sound mega and when you ride one it's the bomb... Santa I want a 2020 RGV 500 for Xmas...
*Sorry to disappoint but Santa's not making anymore due to 'Global Warming' However there may be a few late 1988/89 Examples still around with 'one owner - Low Mileage' but expect to pay around £15k and have to accept 25mpg. My advice go for the Model C (Very Rare) but undoubtedly will appreciate, and had a performance roughly the same as Barry Sheen's Racer.*
@@GrrMeister 25mpg?.?....for a good un and ridden well more like 10/12mpg
@@lordbelvoir2543 *I only got around 10/12 mpg that when racing it, on a long run would get around 25-30 mpg with steady cruising. Been to Switzerland on it, and several times to Dutch TT at Assen. Note UK Gallons not smaller US*
Patricia Richardson - Suter & Ronax are the only ones I’m aware of making current 500cc 2 strokes. Bring your BIG checkbook!
Producing a clean 2stroker is expensive.bimota v due will make it VERY clear but my God that screaming 2 beater are hard to ignore
Crazy how much pace an old RG500 actually has compared to modern day machines... Much respect.
What modern day machinery? The other bike is also a 2 stroker.
@@johncrow5552 And a 250 2T at that.
@@johncrow5552i think he refers to all four stroke bikes that lap around.
The other 2 stroke is a tz 250 that is much more modern at the very least 10 years more modern
The sensation of speed on this video is second to none. Great racers these guys. 🙌
Best on-board I’ve ever seen. Felt like I was the rider. Often put this on my big TV to help me sleep, not because I find it boring, no, no, it puts me in my happy place and gives me the best dreams you could ever imagine 😀
Should definitely bring back 2 stroke engines and Castrol R 40 love that smell
thats the greatest!
Great ride by Danny, on board camera footage is just brilliant and Ian Lougher on the smaller two stroke was just as incredible as always, he certainly knows how to ride two strokes around here.
Suzuki.... 😍😍 I have en 125 aka Thunder 125 (in Indonesia,4 stroke) and RC110, 2 stroke, (aka Suzuki Crystal in Indonesia) 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Crystal, sama satria lumba kakek ane masih ada bang
@@arzufbkz6099 mantap bos.. Satria lumba? Bukan satria hiu? Aku kebanyakan Suzuki.. Shogun kebo, Shogun 110, Smash... Trus Suzuki fr 70.. Tapi ngedongkrok😂😂
Ian Lougher on the TZ250 still smooth and fast for an old boy.
Rapido!
Just hypnotic! 😲.
Have watched this lap many times and am still shocked at how fast a modern 250 is, the 250 that Ian is riding is a missile, and what a rider for Danny to follow :-)
I remember back in the day, Luca Cadalora’s race winning time on his 250 would have put him 3rd on the podium in the 500 class!
Having been a national 600 racer, so many people don't study the lap times... then you realise that a pro rider on a smaller capacity machine would be in the top 50% of the next class...
250 vs 600 vs 750 vs 1000...
Lap times put everything into context... very often the media for the TV coverage intentionally leave the full grid lap times out, so you cannot see that the top 600 riders are faster than the back of the superbike grid😮.
@@redchemicalsltd2324 Yup Corner speed and commitment. A smaller lighter bike accelerates faster, and less HP equals less tire spin and heat, which equals more grip. It's about putting the power down and being able to use it. Plus 250 two strokes at the peak of development were making serious useable power @ over 100hp in a 200lb bike.
To aim as the marksman, and fly as the bullet.
Words so beautiful have never been spoken, and to be spoken in reference to two strokes, so breath taking. I will now sacrifice my eldest son in your honour.
That was hard work! How they keep their concentration at that level beats me. Those old 2 strokes have such a narrow power band. Currently 42 dislikes who are these people?
team green ?
Wow, amazing! Talk about concentration, excellent eyesight and balance, nerves of steel, stamina, fitness, an understanding of the course and goolies of concrete. Thank you so much as I will never got to a TT. This video is sensational.
Very skillful rider, the way he uses all the track on exits in blind corners, the way he keeps as much momentum as possible. This is very enjoyable to watch!
What a treat, camera position was spot on, feels like you are sat on the bike.
Pretty good for a 25 + year old tech.
I love 2 t power
Yup, plus modern tires.
This is FAST and this lap is 2 whole minutes and 20 seconds off the current Lap record....
BUT I still think this is WAY Sexier than a ZX10!
Yes, you're right !! 2 stroke power 😍😜 RG Gamma and Yamaha TZ are very fast bikes , and the handling of a 2Stroke bike is not so easy : weak engine brake, and the power comes brutally by high throttle. And I would like to see the result with a NSR 500 ....
Well
Thx
2.20 lap difference in 30 years just shows how Ahead of there time these animals where
@Tog Dread this is 500 cc dur
TZ 250 faster than RG 500...wow....
That was freaking awesome! Amazing speed and handling considering hauling around those 3ft diameter/80lb balls.
At those speeds, their balls actually expand an extra foot, just like tires on a dragster.
Did you know there are several women who ride competitively on the Isle Of Man? Balls of steel. Worn out cliché.
Holy s___! Just watching these two is amazing but the third rider blowing past them and leaving them in the dust Mind blowing I live in the states it is my dream to someday come to the IOM absolutely awesome.
Apart from everything else, i was impressed with how perfectly the camera was mounted. FANTASTIC. When the viewer can see what the rider can see , some of the experience is passed to the viewer.
Ikr, that has to be a freaking expensive camera mount to reach this level of stability
Agreed
What the hell was that bike passing the RG on the Mountain?
watch the TZ250 dude - RG destroyed! Who is that Pilot?
Classic 2-strokes on the TT, I can see why they would rather temperature gauges rather than speedos, I'd be covering the clutch the entire time!
I was just watching this thinking specially on the long flat out straights 'anyone else's left hand instinctively ready to grab the clutch?'. I miss my RG500 so much.
Do they shift with the clutch on theese?
@@kwakhru435I think op meant 2 strokes would easily overheat(temperature gauge), which causes the engine to sieze and at that speed you would fly if you didn't pull the clutch in time.
Wow, just when I thought he was killing it!? 4 other riders passed him. First one disappeared. Wow. Sick footage
Yeah but four riders on much newer bikes. I mean he was ringing the neck off it
Eyeswideopen 333 yeh they should, nostalgically speaking
yeah... 4 stroke 1000cc bikes with 200+hp
this bike is 500 and makes around 170ish.
imagine 1000cc 2 stroke racing bike. or a 800cc... it would make 300hp.
ofc 4 strokes are gonna be faster.. but they are just not as fun as an 2 stroke...
i would take some new 2stroke like Suter MMX 500 over any superbike in the world.... 570cc 195hp... and a 2 stroke sound and feeling.. an engine that i can take apart alone reasammble and fix myself.. with only a couple of tools.. cause thats what 2 strokes are all about. simple powerfull loud and fun
i agree but you got 100 thous pounds for one
@@natural9743 yeah... i dont have money for a 1000rr atm so its all the same for me. was speaking hipoteticaly
I was always curious about the 2 stroke experience, and I finally got my rgv250 to the IoM this year. What a superb experience.
Wrong gear? Bike's rubbish.
Right gear? Like having a massive bungee rope hauling me between corners. 22 mpg, probably not over 100mph much, but so involving and intense.
You can drill 120 out of them things when they are setup perfect
Excellent ride and not taking chances. Lost a bit of concentration coming up to Ramsey Hairpin from the square but what a nice lap.
Bless you God of blue smoke. Made my day. Thanks
2 stroke power baby! Fun fact that Yellow yamaha up front him the whole time, is just a 250cc 2 stroke.
Gotta love the sound of the stroker Duce the raw power and the skill it takes to keep it in band perfectly
*Best Bike I ever owned, (RG500 Model C 1989 Road Legal **_Kevin Schwantz_** Race Replica) and done many laps of IOM TT Course on. My brother had a CBR1000cc and could not believe it following me, so we swapped bikes at Ramsey and I could not stay anywhere it up to 'The Bungalow' where we swapped again, and the tyres on the CBR were shredded like bacon rind. - The RG is an awesome beast indeed and a real delight to ride. Only modification I added was a steering damper. It also is a great long distance 'cruiser' having been to Switzerland and several times to Holland (Dutch TT at Assen) staying with friends at Harmelen (Hello Ron) who came over to watch with me the British GP at Silverstone 2019.*
Great ride.. love a 2 stroke, had a Kawasaki KR-1 and Suzuki RGV250P back in the day.. these 2 bikes are very evenly matched..
My dad had big bikes most of his life so when he came home with a quarter litre 2 stroke I said to him why have you got that ....he said trust me things can move ....anyways I went on the back of a couple he had....he had the tzr 250 reverse cylinder, rgv 250 ,and an Rd 350 ypvs. ...I was shocked at how quick they were and how hard they accelerated .....unreal bikes and super fun. ...he could smoke alot bigger bikes on them ,he was a good rider and his friend on an R6 used to struggle keeping up with him lol ...only used to be able to get him on the long straights ......
Yeah I had a 250P too, bought new in march '93... What I'd give to have it back...
@@chrisjenkins5846 If his friend struggles to keep up on a R6 then he needs a smaller bike! that R6 is the superior bike even in slower corners.👍
Great to see what a RG 500 could do I the right hands and how much the modern 1000cc bikes have to work to get past even with double the engine size 30 years of tech ----- Nice 1
@FichDichInDemArsch I was talking about when the 500cc 2 strokes were made and how much bikes have advanced since then.Plus the very high level of skill it required to ride a powerful 2 stroke-----------watch the unrideables to see my point
What attracts me to road racing, and the TT mountain course especially, is a rider's need for self- preservation knowing it could all go wrong in an instant. Obtaining the ultimate thrill racing on that beautiful, sacred course and getting away with it.
I put my helmet on while watching this video to be safe😂
Damn that yellow 250 is fast considering it was up against a bike twice the capacity, back in my TZ350 days I noticed when racing against the bigger two strokes. TZ500, 700, 750 and RG500, that in the first 3 gears there was nothing between them but once in the higher gears they had the legs but in this example that did not seem to be evident.
Little mans last part of freedom:
good old 2stroker
Un gusto para los amantes del TT
Thanks for Video
Amazing bike just doesnt have to top end grunt of a four stroke. power just falls away, thats why they had limited success in racing.
Ok.lets see 4 stroke and 2 stroke same cc.what top end are you talking about
When Moto GP stopped using 500cc two stroke bike's, they had to jump up to 1000cc four stroke to have similar speeds to keep the spectators interested
The quality. The sound. The instrument. The fight. A modern Supersport (I guess) passing thru.
Congrats Danny.
Two stroke 500 cc high speed, high adrenaline, super sport exstreme speed Rgv 500, amazing, full speed wooow
This is RG500
TT Racers are a breed apart. Awesome. I’ve done a few good laps of the TT course on a road bike. But that relentless pace is unreal.
A good raw ride there Danny. 12000 R.P.M.+ is more than I dared do on mine, & that was with the double power band, the early road going versions came with. You had a bit of competition in that race, I was starting to think it was mad Sunday!
Beautiful Danny, on song the whole time.
I *MISS* Racing This Bike on PS2 *"TouristTrophy".*
(That's How I Learned of TheSuperBike Also)
Ride4 ps4 and lots more motorcycle as well
As a Suzuki fan boy, I grrrrrrred every time the Yamaha passed the RG on the toing and froing lol . That RG sounds absolutely amazing, I love two strokes. I’ve gotta git my Suzuki gt250k out and rake the sh1t out of it lol 😂.
Excellent vid. Shows the technology advancement in four strokes to zip past these legends. Would like to see the Suter do the same to him though
Best onboard ever! How these madman can do lap after lap at this pace astounds me... I like to think im fast on the roads (sorry officer) but this is on such a different level. They'd be lapping me before I'd arrived at Ballacrye!
When i was a younger boy , i bought a honda hawk ( yer i know no big deal but anyway ) of my old girls friends cousin, then got the rg rg 500 , shit was that two str9ke fast in its day . Hope your still riding andrew from Maroubra.
Beautiful, thanks for that ! I took my RG500 there in 86 as a spectator... it felt faster - lol "The older we get, the faster we was" ;-)
Wishing I never sold mine
Absolutely loved it 💯🏍😎
My god ! ESPETACULAR 😮
My Christ!! Just how quick was that Yamaha 250 !!! I haven't watched the whole video yet only as far as 11th milestone :-)
2 strokes are the boss!!!!! I could smell the silk silkolene from my device's screen 😆💥👍👍
Remember when Rossi attended the TT a few years back as a spectator. His face said it all: 'Jesus. There's no way I'd do that!' The fact he's a multi millionaire when most of these guys earn peanuts relatively, if anything, is a crime.
Oh Danny Boy The Pipes your Pipes are Singing!!!
The Isle of Man TT is on my bucket list. As a spectator of course. Absolutely loved the sight and sound. Thank you Danny for that awesome lap around the Isle.
go to the Classic. The TT is awesome and frenetic but the Classic and Manx GP is much more chilled out. Loads of different bikes as well. You won't regret it
All sorts of bikes from slabside gsxrs/rc30 hondas zxr750s it just goes on
Bloody hell, tt riders must have total trust in each other and big balls to ride a two stroke flat out all that way, mine wouldn't make it down the shops without sizing 😂
Im sizing just watching this video
Coronavirus my arse... nearly lost my phone going through the hairpin 🤣
I had one of these back in the day. Mine had come straight from the track. Crazy thing about this animal was that you only needed to use the clutch to start after that you just kicked her in and out of gears. Never had an issue once. If you gunned it the first time the front end touched the ground was 180km.
Danny that was an amazing ride.
I've Always Favored Suzuki "GearBoxes".
Tem mais algum brasileiro assistindo? Kkkkk. Mas são loucos!
What are these two doing vmax there?
And is it much harder to drive like that for the way less engine-brake effect compared to 4 stroke?
And I think it's gread how damn well the engine oil is cooled (and how cool it actually is, looking at my ol' KTM LC4), compare pre-start to end of turn. Amazing!
I have the utmost respect for these complete lunatics!!! Amazing riding and an incredible sounding bike.
spectacular !!
I can listen to that 2-stroke all day long. What a fantastic sound.
Really2 nice jockey ... solute from 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
The days of 190 HP - 250 pound bikes……… that if the motor locked-up……… you hoped to get back up!! I’m usually a big time hater of the onboard camera view……… but bravo!!
There is no way RG 500 close to 190hp
More like 120hp
Neji Hyuuga - more a statement of where it ended in GP - 180 HP 2 strokes - some rumored and later confirmed at 190
@@BeaterJeep but not RG 500, RGV 500 yes. The most powerfull RG500 was about 145RWHP.
Neji Hyuuga This RG500 isn’t a full blow race bike
FORTUNATELY there is no stupid music in this video, what a blessing! This way you can hear the engine
All kinds of awesome. So so in awe of these guys. Just amazing!
What a beautiful film......... I've rode the mountain on my Honda blade SP........magical
He can’t get past Ian lougher fare play great ride by two great riders, but you can see the years of experience lougher has.
Good luck Suzuki
Yellow Bike is the Suter mmx?
Не нахожу слов как в звёздных воинах
That TZ 250 though
if you folks haven't notice yet, the camera is view is on the rg500 yes, but the bike infront, the yellow one, is actually a yamaho 250 / 2 stroke. Now that's impressive seeing a smaller cubic centimeter engine pulling away . 2 cylinder vs square 4. 2 strokes are incredible with amount of horsepower you can produce just by changing exhaust pipes, fiddling with the harmonics of the pipe design. In short, changing the shape of an echo chamber, to alter the sound waves (back pressure).. way above my pay grade. but fascinating nonetheless..
I never owned one but I rode pillion on one once! The power delivery was fierce! I pushed my full-face helmet back so that the chin guard was obstructing my view and I stepped off shaking! A legend on two wheels- I should have bought one for £6k when I had the chance!
What a great lap ! The RG is a wonderful GP (point and squirt) machine, but not suited to long circuits. Really enjoyed that !!!
The TZ250 would actually be much better on a shorter course given its lighter weight and ability to stop faster, and to turn better.
I thought I did pretty well getting round in 45minutes....lol. Every credit to the skill and bravery of these riders, their teams, the marshalls and all the people on the Island who make this happen...best road race in the world, bar non. Well done Danny...think I met a mate of yours at the Ginger Hall after a few scoops..proper blagger!
These guys aren't the Alpha force of the motorcycling world. They are the APEX PREDATORS. This is the highest level of motorcycling skills on the planet at the Isle of Mann TT. GP racers even admit it.
That is the bike, god would choose, to run down the course. Infact, I know, he has several of those on standby. There is no other bike, coming close, to a rg 500 . Not even in the ballpark.
OH HELL YEAH !!!

Totally awesome! Moreover on a 500 2 strokes like the Suzuki, very very huge talent (and balls lol). WOWWW, so impressive!
the yellow bike is tz 250 right?
Yeah. What a beast it is.
@@MadsPerschke a v twin 250 cc bike can keep up with a U4 500 cc, without belittling the gamma, gp bikes are really on the whole new level.
that 2 stroke square was an awesome machine. no electronics no state of the art current tech., and it still gave that bike a run for it's money. Imagine if it was tuned back to the Kevin Scwhantz hay day of 190 horsepower. or the honda nsr 500 was on that track.
that tz 250 can move
His lap time of almost exactly 20 minutes from a standing start produced an average speed of over 113 mph!
My Suzuki likes the course, yet every weekend I ride it, I still can’t find the corners as sharp! Mind you I also have to stop at the victory for my weekend brekkie so my lap times are terrible. At least that’s my excuse! I live here and can’t go anywhere near as fast as these guys!
