Just got back in the country and noticed you had several new videos on your channel over the past couple of months. Loved each and every one! Glad you mentioned AI. Currently we're so different. Our existence revolves around food, shelter, money, pain, love, religion, our bodies, sleep, transportation, family... - none shared by AI. But a bigger problem is that soon, AI will be be able to mimic reactions without having to experience the underlying motivations, i.e. Commenting on the weather, yawning without being sleepy, excited over making money despite its total irrelevance. My problem is rebuying! I just read 3/4 of the first book of a trilogy, got suspicious and sure enough, had the entire trilogy on my shelves. Guess I'm drawn to certain ty[pes of books.

I love the Finish the Series idea. It helps me to plan particular reads for the month of May when I'm normally bouncing around aimlessly with my reads. Thanks Whitney for all your hard work and great ideas.

Love your videos. Totally confused by your distinguishing between "this" May and "last" May - I dont think ive come back from that just yet. Your enthusiasm and professionalism in making your content are beyond comparison. Just off the scale. I mean, if they ever changed "10" to mean "11" it would be to make room for your work.

I applaud you for working through all these series. I am NOT a series reader; out of 58 books I've finished this year, I've only read one sequel XD. The last series I read from front to back was Machineries of Empire, last year, only because Ninefox Gambit was so mindblowing.
Also, Suarez was recently announced as the winner of this year's Prometheus Award (He had won previously in 2015 for Influx). Haven't read any of his works, but you're doing a good job bumping him up the TBR.

It's so rewarding when you finish a series, specially if it's long. I also finished the forever trilogy which I enjoyed (specially this concept of time gap because of travelling), and His dark materials trilogy,, which I didn't enjoy hehe. I also finished a duology called Falkenberg's legion, by Jerry Pournelle, which is a militar series, but I felt it more political than real combat. It was ok, I didn't get bored hehe, but just that.

You've reinforced my decision not to read 'Children of God'. I LOVED 'The Sparrow' and there are so many negative reviews about the sequel, I'd rather end the story on a high note. I'm a series binger so I'm pretty much always caught up with the ones I love because once I start I can't stop myself until I get to the end 😂

I read Gateway and Beyond the Blue Event Horizon... I'm curious if the series keeps up. Sometime I hear about more vintage era SF authors keeping a series going beyond their original vision after their original novel becomes a smash, and someone said the Gateway series might have been one of those. Nowadays I hear that a lot of modern authors do plan out their series of books ahead of time. I've got LOTR and the Ancillary series to finish myself... then I've got book 2 and 3 of Silo waiting, and Fall of Hyperion on my shelf as well.

I will get to Sea of Rust someday. Service Model is the best standalone Adrian Tchaikovsky has written.
Empire of Silence (Christopher Ruocchio): everyone raves about this series, but I'm not sure about committing to 7 books.
    The Sparrow .Brutally bad.
    Love the channel.

So now you have to start a new series.
    *Merchant Princes* by Charles Stross
A bold contemporary fantasy from a science fiction star, Merchant Princes is a thrill-a-minute saga of multiple worlds. Miriam, a high tech journalist from Boston, discovers she has alternate world relatives, and with them an elite identity she never knew was hers. But her very well-connected family is a little too much like the mafia for comfort.
It starts off looking like fantasy but it turns into science fiction similar to the Paratime stories by H Beam Piper. Stross hoodwinked his publisher. This is one of the few times I eagerly awaited the last book in a series and it got delayed by COVID.
It is either 6 or 9 books depending on the format you buy.
    Merchant Princes Universe
    by Charles Stross
    The Bloodline Feud:
    The Family Trade &
    The Hidden Family
    The Traders' War:
    The Clan Corporate &
    The Merchants' War
    The Revolution Trade:
    The Revolution Business &
    The Trade of Queens
    The Next Generation:
    Empire Games
    Dark State
    Invisible Sun

I would strongly suggest starting with *The Family Trade.* The nukes need to be explained.
Or *Bloodline Feud* same thing, different package.
      What is sci-fi without Nukes?

The SSoSYDUKC( Yah, Deal, UK Club) heartily endorse all your recommendations, and will follow up asap. We have, however, read a short, pithy and undemanding novel recently: Starter Villain, and are reluctant to take on serious-minded, serially grim stuff (we read Stephen Baxter for the first time and buried his book with the fishes - which is quite tricky), any time soon; unless you insist. Thanks so much for your efforts; more space cats!
