I'll say it without hesitation, Sponge out of Water is better than 2004 movie just because all the cast had a significant role. SpongeBob and Plankton journey was a unique experience and that trippy scene of them going to space dolphin is really underrated compared to "Now that we're man". 3D is fantastic, hard to believe 2015 CGI is much, MUCH better than what we've got in recent Sandy movie. It's crazy how much ideas creators put into this to make their interactions with real world hilarious, Patrick's ice cream power is just the best out of all of them. Antonio Bonderas actually feels like better and funnier villian than Plankton in the first movie. It's pretty fitting that SpongeBob and the Krusty Krew would take on exactly the same pirate that we saw on that picture asking "Are you ready, kids?" for 25 years already. Wish his ship wasn't destroyed that easily and turned into something more dangerous and bizarre, but all these cannons were pretty impressive. "Squeeze Me" was the most fitting song for SpongeBob: light-hearted and chill, but sprinkled with some adult lines and jokes just like the show. I'm surprised creators went really hard with all these new songs for this movie and it's a shame they didn't react to them cause all of them are bangers. Too bad Sandy wasn't given her original superhero outfit in the movie, we were robbed of witnessing kingdom come for her. Sponge out of Water is the best and most "SpongeBob" movie out of all and I hope this underrated gem gets more appreciation in the future.
I agree with just about everything you said. Haven't seen the Sandy movie yet since I'm waiting for it to come out, but I don't think we should be too hard on the animation there. Is it worse than this one? Yes, but then again it's not a theatrical release (or one that was made to be theatrical, like 'Sponge On the Run', which also has amazing animation throughout). I'm also especially glad you share my point with this being a 'SpongeBob' movie. Even if I ever decided that the first or the third movie is the best one, SOoW is the only one that has a plot that's straight up 'SpongeBob'. The quest to get the crown and the whole Plan Z thing was great in the original, but in the end of the day it follows a similar plot to what you've probably seen before or will see after. Again, not saying that's a bad thing.
@thepandorica1660 I'd say Sponge out of Water simply works the best because it revolves about the basis of SpongeBob universe: Secret Formula. It's hilarious yet understandable why Bikini Bottom would go in chaos if it suddenly is lost(not the first time for Bikini Bottom to go in flames because of some minor problem). And all characters are tied to this list of paper and other way around, that's why I love the message behind "The secret to the formula" song in Sponge on the Run: just like the Formula is a key to Krabby Patty SpongeBob main cast was a key to show's success and other way around. Plus, I thought the first movie was presenting itself way too seriously. I know SpongeBob had a lot of emotional episodes and moments and I love them dearly, but it was balanced with comedy and insanity. If I was looking for seriousness in SpongeBob I'd rather wait and finally watch fan SpongeBob anime by Narmak or read that hilariously dark story about Patrick becoming a monster and eating everybody in Bikini Bottom P.S Lucky for them they put thoughts on the movie in separate video or else the comment section would've gone wild for them prefering the second movie over the first.
@natepark8359 "Only 3 first seasons and a movie are worth watching" Like who the hell are these people to tell me what should I like or dislike? Post-movie SpongeBob has a lot of great and funny episodes and it's a shame "Hillenberg SpongeBob true fans" keep people away from experiencing it themselves and forming their own opinion. If I had stopped watching SpongeBob after 2004 movie, I wouldn't have seen one of my favorite "modern" episodes "Squid Noir" which has a lot of good jokes on detective genre and Squidward is the perfect choice for that role.
@@ashesGeek you'd think the spongebob community would be a safe space to freely discuss your love for anything spongebob-related content but in truth it's dominated by loud motormouth elitists who want you to like the same stuff, recite the same lines and jokes, discuss the same oh-so-deep moral lessons of seasons 1-3 + movie

I’ve only seen this and the first so I can’t comment on the other one(s), but I (personally) consider the first movie to be a better “movie”, but this is a better “SpongeBob movie” if that makes any sense.
Sponge Out of Water is a worthy successor to the first movie, it’s silly, hilarious, well-animated and treats every character with respect. It’s Stephen Hillenburg’s return to the series and it shows. Plankton being in the majority of the film is a definite plus, he’s my favorite character after all. 35:01 this isn’t actually why the formula disappeared, but I DO believe this movie is why the show has so many inconsistencies.
Such an overhated movie. No near as good as the first but it’s still a great movie in its own right. Only On The Run which is third movie is bad. This movie is probably the funniest outta the three main SpongeBob movies. I think because of the how the show dipped after Hillenburg left is when people started to and still to this day despise everything after the first movie so nobody was ready to give it a chance. But this is when Hillenburg returned because he was heavily involved in the production of this movie. Andrea Banderas killed his role. I’m just happy this movie is getting the love it deserves and I find it to be very underrated. Overall an 8/10 for this film.

You say brief but it lasted as much as pre-movie (S9B-12 considering that 9B + 10 is a full season lenght)

1:00 yeah we have for the episode pressure back in I believe season two.
Yes, although the island is way less detailed in that episode.
20:46 PATRICK YOU JUDAS
Matt Berry in any role is amazing, especially with such a voice like his.
*LE GASP OH MY GOD FINALLY YES BEST MOVIE EVER!*
SpongeBob movie 2 let’s freakin gooo!
10:54 Plankton could have save a lot of money if he just threw that penny on the ground in front of the restaurant and Mr. Crab pick it up
17:13 imagine of Burger King or McDonald’s disappeared😮

The best thing to catch me off guard 🤣
57:11 And besides, he's already been to jail at the end of the last movie.
24:19 I forgot how creepy this scene was lol 😂
7:09 I love pickles.
I don't like pickles
@@pinkprincess6136 okay.
I seen this movie in theaters and next year then this movie will be 10 years old
Fun fact: that rap sequence at the end was written and preformed by Nice Peter and Epic Lloyd (the guys from Epic Rap Battles of History)
This is my second 🧽 bob square 👖 🎥
Awesome!! Do the third Spongebob movie when you make it in the middle of season 11-12!
I'd say after Season 12. Either way, it should definitely be before 13 and they'll know exactly why by the time they get there
@@thepandorica1660 OK! In the meantime, let's be patient.
Even though this movie isn’t really good to me but the first movie will remain the true finale of the series no matter what!
That probably explains why this movie is not called "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 2" even though that was the original title of this movie used in early advertising and announcement websites from 2012.
Plankton being tortured by SpongeBob’s laughing is every kid’s parents growing up lmao
20:42 20:57 21:11 three parts is so funny!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
58:44 WHOA!!!! PAUSE!
I remember when this first came out i waited for it to premier on nick luckily watched it for free and honestly best part for me was when they got their powers 🔥
If I was looking for seriousness in SpongeBob I'd rather wait and finally watch fan SpongeBob anime by Narmak or read that hilariously dark story about Patrick becoming a monster and eating everybody in Bikini Bottom
P.S Lucky for them they put thoughts on the movie in separate video or else the comment section would've gone wild for them prefering the second movie over the first.
@@ashesGeek this is why you should avoid fandoms like the plague

That was Kevin Michael Richardson
Oh this movie brings back memories I remember going to pick up the dvd at Fred Myers’s they included a free orange juice pack SpongeBob themed of course and my favorite SpongeBob Kraft macaroni and cheese. Safe to say I had a great snack while watching my copy of this movie on dvd. Thanks for reacting to this one it’s a bit underrated it deserves more attention for sure
I’ve only seen this and the first so I can’t comment on the other one(s), but I (personally) consider the first movie to be a better “movie”, but this is a better “SpongeBob movie” if that makes any sense.
The only other one is 'Sponge On the Run'. It's on Netflix here, so chances are you'll be able to watch it there :)
@@thepandorica1660 there’s also the Sandy movie which was leaked a few months ago😅
I see what you're saying
So the pirate in the frame stole the krabby patty formula?! 🤯
no
Sponge Out of Water is a worthy successor to the first movie, it’s silly, hilarious, well-animated and treats every character with respect. It’s Stephen Hillenburg’s return to the series and it shows.
Plankton being in the majority of the film is a definite plus, he’s my favorite character after all.
35:01 this isn’t actually why the formula disappeared, but I DO believe this movie is why the show has so many inconsistencies.
Great movie 😂
40:12 what's the name of the song?
It's from the movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, the song is called: The Ecstacy Of Gold.
