About the glyphs, they were used to mark where a commercial break would air, intended for syndication and international use since originally the show aired without commercial breaks as a part of a pilot program (season 1 only) Of course, the showrunners could have used anything as markers (even a plain fade to black), but instead, they used the glyphs to add to the mystery and lore of the show as well as to engage the audience (glyph design, what do they mean,? do they mean something?) The glyphs have a base image (hand, apple, etc.) and a yellow dot placed somewhere. The base image can be mirrored. Depending on the combination (base image, dot location, mirror) a glyph can be translated to a letter. The glyphs do spell out a five or six-letter word that hints at something relevant to the episode plot (except for the pilot which was OBSERVER, 8 letters, sorry about the "spoiler") Sometimes the word chosen was intentionally chosen to make sense for the next episode, the entire season, or the show (for example: the glyph word for episode 5 makes sense for episodes 5 and 6, and OBSERVER clearly has meaning beyond the pilot episode) Anyway, enjoy the ride, Miss Jayne

And I love how we start to learn more about Olivia in this one. One small connection between episodes - in episode 3, she told Peter she knew what she wanted to do as a job when she was 9. And now we find out why.

"It's something that we're doing for people who care to figure it out and follow it, but it's not something that a viewer has to consider when they watch the show.
