  • Educators around the world are constantly encouraged to teach critical thinking skills to their students. Critical thinking is a frequent topic at professional conferences, it’s often mandated by government education departments, and it receives a lot of emphasis in learning materials. But when it comes to reading skills, students often seem to read with only the goal of finding the answers to the comprehension questions printed in their textbook. Many students read the words without considering the implications of what they are reading; critical thinking is absent. To help teachers address this problem, this webinar will describe four simple reading tasks that build students’ critical thinking skills. We’ll consider how to use each task with students of varying ages and proficiency levels. Participants leave the session equipped with classroom-ready activities to encourage critical thinking in any reading lesson.
