In the non-drums section, it's actually Adam that starts on Guitar. Justin only comes in with the "heavy" sound after 4 iterations and then stops after 4 iterations. Adam's the one keeping the melody going through that section.
I gotta say I much prefer the studio version of this song. Maybe if Tool ever does a live concert recording with pro level equipment, the live stuff will have excellent sound. But for now, there's nothing better than the real thing.
I agree with you for the most part. However, once in a while, you can find a gem where it's the captured mic feeds from the soundboard directly and not some crappy phone or camcorder audio. This one is pretty old, and it's unfortunate the person who released it didn't do a good job of balancing the levels of all the instruments well, but it's still pretty damn good to listen to. Little nuances you can hear in the live version. Check out the sequence at 4:30 (ruclips.net/video/KG4OA3oKA-M/видео.html) in particular. After 2 iterations of Adam's riff, I *LOVE* when Justin's bass comes in with the octave pedal, something you don't hear on the album version. :) ruclips.net/video/KG4OA3oKA-M/видео.html
One of my favorite parts of this song is when he sings " finding beauty in the dissonance". Chills!! Fucking Tool 🔥

Patience is a factor for Tool
