Someone left a comment that Chris Hillman is an underated musician. Oh come on now are you kidding??? Chris has been one the largest influences on an entire generation of people from the 1960s. He's an Icon for gosh sake. The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas, Desert Rose Band, and beyond. I don't know what someone is thinking with comments like that. He may not be a household name to later generations but to us born during the 1940s and 1950s we all know who Chris Hillman is very well.
@@752brickie Apparently it's a matter of perspective. To my generation who grew up on The Byrds ( along with all else Chris did afterwards) in the middle 60s I don't see him as underappreciated. I'm not sure how he is viewed as such considering all he has accomplished as a musician from a young age to his elder years. Funny how Chris never played bass when he bluffed his way into the byrds. He improved so quickly that his bass playing a little over a year in on eight miles high was iconic.

My first rock show was Roger Mcguinn and then Chris Hillman in Colonie NY - "Papa Bear Lounge" 1976. They were friends of Bobbie Levine, (long time Eddie Money percussionist and multi-instrumentalist for several 60s acts) and my boss. They came in to help him save a floundering nightclub. I was mesmerized, music became my life...who knew at 17, get to work with such acts, and then later work with and even sing with, a long line of music legends. Thanks Chris.
After listening to this song .... I feel really bad that I've missed decades of Herb Pedersen's songs and performances ! Thanks to both for the recording ..... for some strange reason I could not stop crying while listening to this tremendous song !! I'm just glad I discovered Herb while he is still ALIVE !!
I heard them play this live at the Triple Door in Seattle in 2010 and within few seconds my eyes were flooded with tears. Even to this day I rarely can muster the self control to hold back tears when I play this video. The song is even more powerful when started off with Chris harmonizing the chorus.

I grew up in Southern Orange County in the 50’s and 60’s a moved to Sonoma county in the 70’s….you’d think that might have happen….as I have met and seen artists and bands over the years…. It would be great to see You and Herb live…. Bay Area? When I was in Viet Nam I used to listen to ‘The Notorious Byrd Brothers’ album a lot. It was amazing! Thank you for it All !

It makes sense that our two countries enjoy the same music, as America has its roots in Irish music and bluegrass, which I believe is rooted in Irish music. You can sense it in our music, especially in the Sourth and the Appelacians.
Nothing better than the Seldom Scene's original version, however the remake they made in 2014 is awfully close. Auldridge's dobro took it to a new level.
The original studio version has Starling singing lead and the magnificent Duffey singing tenor which no one does it better. Duffey doing the lead after Starling left was certainly magnificent but to me there was something special about that original version with Starling.

I think I love Chris Hillman's mandolin, which to me is the best style I;ve ever heard. It's not perfect; it has the slightest imperfection, but that's what gives it character. When I say imperfection, I don't mean careless. He's very talented. Such a great mandolin player. I love his melodies.and that harmony can't be beat. It has just a slight taste of meloncholy.

had the pleasure of seeing Chris ,Herb and John Jorgensen in Sellrsville Pa. in Sept. the opening show of their fall tour what an absolutely wonderful show the highlight was hearing them do Wait a Minute fantastic musicians.
you've gotta love this song and this version. i've love this song since i first heard the seldon scene nail it. i've been listing to bluegass since the late 40's when is was just hillbilly music. sadly, many great singers and bands, that i loved, have passed on. according to my wife, i'm getting old but not too old to still love bg. thanks for the post.
